The Night of Arafah & Dhikrullah

Hadhrat Ali Radiyallahu anhu narrates that Nabi ﷺ paid attention to the companions and welcomed them three times. He then said, "Shall I tell you some good news? There are many angels descending upon the night after the night of Arafah to the extent that if a needle was to drop, it would not have any space to fall in between the gaps of the angels, rather, it would fall upon an angel."

During this night, Allah ta'ala addresses the angels and asks the angels what the people are seeking, although He knows our emotions and our requirements. The angels are our witnesses and they inform Allah ta'ala that the servants are seeking Allah ta'ala's forgiveness. Allah ta'ala does not object towards what we seek and does not question our sins despite knowing what we have committed.

Allah ta'ala responds to the angels to become witnesses to the fact that He has forgiven those who have called out to their Lord. Nabi ﷺ said that Allah ta'ala makes this announcement three times. This is the true Eid. There is no greater happiness than being forgiven by Allah ta'ala. Such servants will have their worldly needs fulfilled and their blessings and provision will be increased by Allah ta'ala.

We should look towards Allah ta'ala's mercy and not towards our sins. Allah ta'ala hides our defects with His mercy. We should take advantage of these blessed nights as death can arrive at any time and without advance warning. The biggest loser is he who doesn't take advantage.

Allah ta'ala extends His Mercy towards the sinners, the desperate people and the beggars. We have earned the fire with our sins and we would have been destroyed if it wasn't for this night.

We obey our desires and Shaytan, go against the Sunnah and we sin day and night. Allah ta'ala knows our conditions and none of our actions can guarantee Paradise.

If we waste this opportunity, we will be questioned by Allah ta'ala. We should be grateful to Allah ta'ala that He has given us this gathering to attend. He brought us here, forgave us and has distanced us from Hellfire.

We shouldn’t waste these nights. If we wish to be grateful servants, then we should establish prayer in the masjid after repenting. Whoever makes his prayer complete, has completed his Paradise.

The blessings of prayer will detach you from sins. Allah ta'ala will protect you and will forgive you, but we must take the first step towards Allah ta'ala.

We have been distanced from our Masaajid and this is a punishment from Allah ta'ala. We should accept it as a punishment and learn from it. Until Allah ta'ala is happy with us, Coronavirus will not be removed. Allah ta'ala will only be happy with us when we promise not to sin and disobey Him and when we adopt the Sunnah, otherwise the punishment will increase. When we sin and spread immodesty, punishment will descend upon us.

Allah ta'ala has given us the opportunity to repent. We should focus upon our sins because no masjid or social distancing will save us from the punishment of Allah ta'ala.

Tonight we should repent and make a promise to attend prayer in congregation, treat our relatives well, fulfil the rights of our parents and purify our homes from the wrong things. If we fail to do this, we won't be forgiven and the punishment will not be lifted from us. If we reject just like the previous nations did, we will be destroyed.

Allah ta'ala desires sincere believers. You should seek a waliAllah to learn from. You should seek advice from him and confess your sins.

It is better to submit to the Shariah and Sunnah now and not remain stubborn, otherwise we will face the same consequences as Firaun.

It is Sunnah to shake the hands of your brother upon meeting and you should ask about each other when returning from a journey.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
