حضرت ابو ھریرہؓ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریمﷺ نے فرمایا، میری امت قیامت کے دن بلائے جائیں گے تو وضو کے اثر سے ان کے چہرے اور ہاتھ اور پاؤں روشن اور منور ہوں گے۔ بس تم میں سے جو کوئی اپنی روشنی اور نورانیت کو بڑھا سکے اور مکمل کر سکے تو ایسا ضروری ہے کے صحیح طریقے سے وضو کیا جائے۔ صحیح بخاری و مسلم
Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah radhiallah anhu narrates that the Blessed Prophet ﷺ said, “When my Ummah is called on the Day of Qiyaamah, their faces, hands and feet will shine with light from the effects of performing wudhu in the Dunya. If you wish to increase that shine (on the Day of Judgement) then perform wudhu in the correct manner.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
حضرت عثمانؓ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے ایک دن وضو اس طرح فرمایا کہ پہلے اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں پر تین دفعہ پانی ڈالا، پھر تین دفعہ کلی کی، تین دفعہ ناک میں پانی لے کر اس کو نکالا اور ناک کی صفائی کی، پھر تین دفعہ اپنا پورا چہرہ دھویا، پھر اس کے بعد داہنا ہاتھ کوہنی تک تین دفعہ دھویا، پھر اسی طرح بایاں ہاتھ کوہنی تک تین بار دھویا، اس کے بعد سر کا مسح کیا، پھر داہنا پاؤں تین دفعہ دھویا، پھر اسی طرح بایاں پاؤں تین دفعہ دھویا۔ اس طرح پورا وضو کرنے کے بعد حضرت عثمانؓ نے فرمایا کہ میں نے رسول ﷲ ﷺ کو دیکھا کہ آپؐ نے بالکل میرے اس وضو کی طرح وضو فرمایا اور ارشاد فرمایا جس نے میرے اس وضو کی طرح وضو کیا پھر دو رکعت نماز پوری توجہ کے ساتھ ایسی پڑھی کہ دل میں ادھر ادھر کی باتیں نہیں سوچیں تو اس کے پچھلے سارے گناہ معاف کر دئیے جائیں گے۔ صحیح بخاری و مسلم
It has been narrated that one day Hadhrat Uthman radhiallah anhu performed wudhu in this manner: First he poured water on both hands three times. Then he rinsed his mouth three times, took water three times into the nostrils and cleaned them and then washed the whole of his face three times. Then he washed his right hand up to and including the elbow three times, then repeated that same action with the left arm and then did masah (wiping over) of the head. Then he washed the right foot three times and then the left foot three times. Then after completing wudhu in this manner Hadhrat Uthman radhiallah anhu stated, “I saw Allah’s Messenger ﷺ perform wudhu in this exact same manner.” Then he added, “If someone was to perform wudhu in this manner and then pray two rak’at Salaah with full concentration (without being distracted by random thoughts) then all his previous sins will be forgiven. (Bukhari and Muslim)
وضو میں اٹھاراہ سنتیں ہیں ان کو ادا کرنے سے کامل طریقے سے وضو ہو جائے گا۔
There are eighteen Sunnahs pertaining to wudhu, if one was to adopt all of them then his wudhu would be perfect.
وضو کی نیت کرنا، مثلاً یہ کہ میں نماز کے لیے وضو کر رہا ہوں۔
To make intention for wudhu. I.e., ‘I am performing wudhu for prayer.’
بسم ﷲ الرحمٰن الرحیم پڑھ کر وضو کرنا۔
To recite ‘Bismillah-ir-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem’ before starting wudhu.
حضرت ابو ھریرہؓ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول ﷲ ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ اے ابو ھریرہ جب تم وضو کرو تو بسم ﷲ و الحمد للہ کہہ لیا کرو اس کا اثر یہ ہو گا کہ جب تک تمہارا یہ وضو باقی رہے گا اس وقت تک تمہارے فرشتے یعنی کرامن کاتبین تمہارے لیے برابر نیکیاں لکھتے رہیں گے۔ معجم الصغیر طبرانی
It has been narrated by Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah radhiallah anhu that Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “O Abu Hurayrah, when you start wudhu recite ‘Bismillahi walhamdulillah’, for the effect of that will be such that the angels Karamin and Kaatibin will write good deeds in your account for the duration of that wudhu.” (Al-Mu’jam As-Sagheer Tabarani)
دونوں ہاتھوں کو پہنچوں تک تین بار دھونا، مسواک کرنا، اگر مسواک نہ ہو تو انگلی سے دانتوں کو صاف کرنا، تین بار کلی کرنا، تین بار ناک میں پانی چڑھانا، تین بار ناک چھینکنا، ہر اعضا کو تین تین بار دھونا، چہرہ دھوتے وقت داڑھی کا خلال کرنا، ہاتھوں اور پیروں کو دھوتے وقت انگلیوں کا خلال کرنا، ایک بار تمام سر کا مسح کرنا، سر کے مسح کے ساتھ کانوں کا مسح کرنا، اعضا وضو کو مل مل کر دھونا، پے در پہ وضو کرنا، ترتیب وار وضو کرنا، داہنی طرف سے پہلے دھونا، وضو کے بعد کلمہ شہادت :
It is Sunnah to wash both hands (and wrists) three times, to brush with miswaak, and if no miswaak is available then to clean the teeth by rubbing them with the finger, to rinse the mouth three times, to put water in the nostrils three times and then blow the nose three times, to wash each body part (required for wudhu) three times, to do khilal of the beard while washing the face, to do khilal of the fingers and toes when washing the hands and feet, to do the masah of the head in one complete action, to wipe the head and ears in one action, to rub the body parts of wudhu properly when washing and to do wudhu in sequence in the correct order. Always wash from the right first and on finishing wudhu recite the Kalimah Shahadah:
اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَّآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللہُ وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُوْلُهُ
Thereafter recite the following dua:
اَللّٰہُمَّ اجْعَلْنِیْ مِنَ التَّوَّابِیْنَ وَاجْعَلْنِیْ مِنَ الْمُتَطَھِّرِیْنَ
حضرت ابو موسٰی اشعریؓ سے مروی ہے کہ میں جناب رسولﷲ ﷺ کے پاس وضو کے وقت حاضر ہوا تو میں نے آپؐ سے وضو کرتے وقت سنا کہ آپؐ دعا کر رہے تھے:
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي وَوَسِّعْ لِي فِي دَارِیْ وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي رِزْقِی
زاد المعاد
Hadhrat Abu Moosa Ash’ari radhiallah anhu relates that once I was in the presence Allah’s Messenger ﷺ when he performed wudhu and he was reciting the dua:
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي وَوَسِّعْ لِي فِي دَارِیْ وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي رِزْقِی
(Zaad-ul-Ma’aad)
ابن شدادؓ سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے رسول ﷲ ﷺ کو دیکھا آپؐ جب وضو فرماتے تو ہاتھ کی سب سے چھوٹی انگلی یعنی چھنگلی سے پاؤں کی انگلیوں کو یعنی ان کے درمیان کو ملتے تھے یعنی خلال فرماتے تھے۔ جامع ترمذی، ابو داود، ابن ماجہ
Ibn Shaddaad radhiallah anhu narrates, ‘I saw Allah’s Messenger ﷺ performing wudhu and he was doing khilal of the toes by rubbing between the toes with his little finger’. (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud & Ibn Majah)
حضرت انسؓ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول ﷲ ﷺ کا طریقہ تھا کہ جب وہ وضو فرماتے تو ایک ہاتھ سے پانی لے کر ٹھوڑی کے نیچے ریش مبارک کے اندرونی حصے میں پہنچاتے اور اس سے ریش مبارک میں خلال فرماتے یعنی ہاتھ کی انگلیاں اس کے درمیان سے نکالتے اور فرماتے کہ میرے رب نے مجھے ایسا ہی کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے۔ سنن ابی داود
Hadhrat Anas radhiallah anhu narrates that it was the blessed habit of Allah’s Messenger ﷺ to take water in one hand and to pour it deep into his blessed beard below the chin and would perform khilal of the beard by passing his fingers through the beard and he would say, “My Lord has commanded me to do this.” (Abu Dawud)
وضو میں نبی کریم ﷺ پانی اچھی طرح استعمال فرماتے لیکن پھر بھی امت کو پانی کے استعمال میں اسراف سے پرہیز کی تلقین فرماتے۔ زاد المعاد
The Blessed Prophet ﷺ would use a sufficient amount of water to perform wudhu and would warn his Ummah against using surplus/excessive amount of water. (Zaad-ul-Ma’aad)
نبی کریم ﷺ اکثر خود ہی وضو کرتے تھے اور کبھی ایسا ہوتا کہ دوسرا آدمی پانی ڈالتا۔ زاد المعاد
The Blessed Prophet ﷺ would most often perform wudhu by himself. Occasionally someone would pour the water for him. (Zaad-ul-Ma’aad)
حضرت عبد ﷲ ابن عمرؓ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول ﷲ ﷺ نے فرمایا: جس شخص نے طہارت کے با وجود یعنی وضو ہونے کے با وجود تازہ وضو کیا اس کے لیے دس نیکیاں لکھی جاتی ہیں۔ جامع ترمذی
Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Umar radhiallah anhu has narrated that Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said: “Any person who performed fresh wudhu despite already being in a state of purity will have ten good deeds written for him.” (Tirmidhi)
آنحضرت ﷺ نماز میں اکثر نیا وضو فرماتے اور کبھی کبھی کئی نمازیں ایک ہی وضو کے ساتھ پڑھ لیتے۔ زاد المعاد
The Prophet ﷺ would often perform fresh wudhu for Salaah and on rare occasions perform many prayers with one wudhu. (Zaad-ul-Ma’aad)
وضو کرتے وقت قبلہ رخ کسی اونچی جگہ پر بیٹھنا چاہیے تا کہ پانی کی چھینٹیں نہ پڑیں۔
To face the Qiblah and sit at a height from the ground is preferable to avoid splashes of water.
جب ہاتھوں کو دھویے تو انگلیوں میں ہاتھوں کو ڈال کر اچھی طرح خلال کر لو۔ عورت اگر انگوٹھی پہنے ہو یا چوڑی یا جو کچھ پہنا ہو اس کو ہلا لے تا کہ سوکھا نہ رہ جائے۔
When washing the hands, do khilal properly by inserting the fingers of one hand between the fingers of the other. If one (particularly for women) is wearing a ring move it so that no part of the hand remains dry.
پاؤں ٹخنے سمیت تین بار دھویے اور بائیں ہاتھ کی چھنگلیا سے پیر کی انگلیوں میں خلال کرے۔ داہنے پیر کی داہنی چھنگلیا سے شروع کرے اور بائیں پیر کی چھنگلیا پر ختم کرے۔ یہ وضو کا مسنون طریقہ ہے۔
Wash the feet up to and including the ankles and do khilal of the toes with the little finger of the left hand. Start khilal from the small toe of the right foot and finish with the small toe of the left foot. This is the Sunnah method for wudhu.
اعضائے وضو کو خوب مل مل کر دھونا، وضو مسلسل کرنا یعنی ایک عضو دھونے کے بعد دوسرے عضو کے دھونے میں وقفہ اور تاخیر نہ ہونا چاہیے۔ وضو ترتیب وار کرنا یہ سنت ہے۔
Rub the wudhu parts well when washing. Perfom the wudhu in sequence and do not pause between washing one part and the next and it is the Sunnah to wash in the correct order.
THE SUNNAHS OF WUDHU
نَحْمَدُهُ وَنُصَلِّيْ عَلَى رَسُوْلِهِ الْكَرِيْمِ

Rub the wudhu parts well when washing. Perfom the wudhu in sequence and do not pause between washing one part and the next and it is the Sunnah to wash in the correct order.
