The Blessed Tehmad
بسم اللہ الرحمٰن الرحیم
نحمدہ و نصلی علیٰ رسولہ الکریم ، اما بعد
Today we will look at the blessed Sunnah of the Tehmad shareef. It has been related in Hadeeth that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would consistently wear a mantle (sheet of cloth used as a wrap) and the tehmad which is also known as ‘lungi’ in our language.
In another Hadeeth it is related that when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would wear the tehmad shareef, it would hang a little lower at the front than at the back.
Umm Salmah radhiallah anha relates that three items of clothing most regularly worn by the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam were: the Qamees, the Tehmad and a mantle (chaadar).
I pray that Allah subhana wa ta’ala grants us the taufeeq to have amal upon all the beautiful Sunnahs with true love from the depth of our hearts and souls. It is a great blessing of Allah that He has given us the opportunities to listen to the Sunnahs of His Habeeb sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and all this because there is no benefit to be taken from this world without the ways of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Hence we must bring these blessed actions into our lives.

تہمد شریف
بسم اللہ الرحمٰن الرحیم
نحمدہ و نصلی علیٰ رسولہ الکریم ، اما بعد
آج ہم نبی پاک ﷺ کی تہمد شریف والی سنت کو دیکھیں گے۔ حدیث میں آتا ہے کہ آپ کا اکثر لباس یعنی اکثر حالتوں میں آپ کا لباس چادر اور تہمد ہوتا یعنی دو چیزیں اکثر آپ پہنتے تھے چادر بھی اور تہمد بھی جسے ہم لنگی بھی کہتے ہیں۔
ایک اور حدیث میں ہے آپ ﷺ تہمد شریف کو اس طرح پہنتے تھے کہ سامنے کی طرف لٹکاتے تھے اور پیچھے کی طرف اونچحا رکھتے تھے۔ یہ آپ کا تہمد شریف پہننے کا انداز تھا کہ سامنے کے طرف جھکا ہوتا تھا اور پیچھے کی طرف اونچا ہوتا تھا۔
ام سلمہؓ فرماتی ہیں کہ آپ کا بکثرت لباس تین چیزوں پہ مشتمل ہوتا تھا: قمیص ، تہمد اور چادر۔ یہ آپ کا اکژ ہر وقت کے ساتھ لباس ہوتا تھا۔ اللہ سبحانہ و تعالیٰ ہمیں نبی پاک ﷺ کی ساری پیاری پیاری سنتوں پر دل و جان سے عمل کرنے ی توفیق نصیب فرمائے۔ اللہ اپنے کرم سے ہمیں یہ سنتیں سننے کا موقعہ عطا فرما رہے ہیں تو یہ صرف اس لیےکہ یہ وہ فعل ہے کہ بغیر عمل کے اس کے فائدہ نہیں تو ہمیں اس کو اپنی زندگی کے عمل میں لانا چاہیے۔
