بسم اللہ الرحمٰن الرحیم
نحمدہ و نصلی علیٰ رسولہ الکریم، اما بعد
آپ ﷺ کھانے سے پہلے ہاتھ دھوتے اور پھر ابتدا میں بسم اللہ پڑھتے اور پھر سیدھے ہاتھ سے اپنے سامنے سے کھانا شروع کرتے اور آخر میں حمد فرماتے۔ زاد المعاد
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would wash his hands before eating. He would first recite ‘Bismillah’ and then eat with the right hand from the food that was in front of him. And at the end (of the meal) he would (recite words) to praise Allah (Hamd). (Zaad-ul-Ma’aad)
جس نعمت کے اول میں بسم اللہ اور آخر میں الحمد للہ ہو ، اس نعمت سے قیامت میں سوال نہ ہو گا۔ ابن حبان
A person will not be questioned in Qiyamah regarding that Ni’mah (favour from Allah) that is commenced with ‘Bismillah’ and concluded with ‘Alhamdulillah’. (Ibn Hibbaan)
بسم اللہ کہنا بالاتفاق سنت ہے اور داہنے ہاتھ سے کھانا جمہور کے نزدیک سنت ہے ، بعض کے نزدیک واجب ہے۔آپ ﷺ کا حکم ہے کہ داہنے ہاتھ سے کھاؤ اور داہنے ہاتھ سے پیو اس لیے کہ بائیں ہاتھ سے شیطان کھاتا ہے اور پیتا ہے۔ خصائل نبویؐ
It is unanimously agreed that to recite ‘Bismillah’ (before eating) is the Sunnah and it is the consensus (of the Ulama) that to eat with the right hand is also Sunnah, and some are of the opinion that it is waajib. The Prophet sallallahu alyhi wa sallam instructed, “Eat with the right hand and drink with the right hand because Shaytaan eats and drinks with the left hand.” (Khasaa’il-e-Nabawi)
عمر و بن ابی سلمہؓ حضور پر نور ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے ، آپ ﷺ کے پاس کھانا رکھا ہوا تھا ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا بیٹا قریب ہو جاؤ اور بسم اللہ کہہ کے داہنے ہاتھ سے اپنے سامنے سے کھانا شروع کرو۔ شمائل ترمذی
Amro bin Abi Salmah radhiallah anhu once visited the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam who had a meal before him. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Son, come closer, recite ‘Bismillah’, then start eating from the (section) of food that is in front of you.” (Shamaa’il-e-Tirmidhi)
اللہ سبحانہ و تعالٰی ہمیں نبی کریم ﷺ کی تمام سنتوں پہ عمل کرنے کی توفیق نصیب فرمائے۔
I pray to Allah subhana wa ta’ala to grant us the taufeeq to have amal upon all the Sunnahs of the Blessed Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
