{فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ (٢٤)} 2-24
Surah al-Baqarah v24
Allah subhana wa ta'ala is addressing all of mankind here, all people. As we explained regarding the previous verse which we recited yesterday, Allah subhana wa ta'ala stated that the reason for rejection and hypocrisy, and refusal to practice, is the doubt that is embedded in the heart. In reality, there is doubt about Allah’s Habeeb, His Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam that Allah sent. Allah is saying ‘You don’t accept in your hearts that he is My Prophet, because you do not practice the Book that I sent him and the orders of that Qur’an. You reject, you refuse. You know and are aware, but you don’t accept in the right way. You practice according to how you want to do things. Whatever you like, you do, and what you dislike, you leave. According to the times and the generation, you practice what you want. You don’t implement what the Deen requires, rather you implement what you require, and what you want to do. And even if you do accept and practice, then in parallel you commit sins. You have mixed things with the Deen and contaminated it, and what is the reason for all of this? Shakk – doubt.’
Now Allah ta’ala has said that you can do something to get rid of doubt, but if you have doubt in the Qur’an it shows up in regard to practice of all three things. In this case, Allah ta’ala says ‘Bring a chapter, a Surah, that compares to the Qur’an. Bring one verse, one Surah – create it.’ Allah subhana wa ta'ala says clearly {فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ} ‘And if you don’t bring something comparable - and you can never do it anyway because you are liars. {فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ} You know that this is Allah subhana wa ta'ala’s revelation, that this is the Book that He has revealed, so you will not be able to create a verse or a Surah or any words that compare. You cannot. You will not be able to bring anything.’ This is the Sunnah of Allah, that when different nations were sent their Prophets, they would be stubborn and would reject, just as Allah says you are rejecting and being stubborn. In the same way, when previous nations were also stubborn and rejected, Allah ta’ala gave miracles to those Ambiya, to those Prophets, and these miracles were from Allah so they could not respond to them; they were not capable and had nothing to offer. Allah ta’ala gave different miracles to different Prophets alayhim salam.
Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam was given various miracles - he had his staff, and his hand that shone; Hadhrat Yusuf alayhi salam, his miracle was his own beauty, his Husn; The miracle of Hadhrat Dawud alayhi salam was his beautiful, melodious voice; the kingdom of Hadhrat Sulayman alayhi salam was unlike any other kingdom; Hadhrat Saleh alayhi salam was given the she-camel; Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam would enable people who were deceased to come back to life, bring life to birds of clay, cure the sick – these were his miracles. SubhanAllah, he was born without a father, and he spoke when still a baby. So Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam had the miracle of the hand, Hadhrat Yusuf alayhi salam had the miracle of his beauty, the melodious voice of Hadhrat Dawud alayhi salam was his miracle, the vast kingdom of Hadrat Sulayman alayhi salam was his miracle, bringing the dead to life was the miracle of Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam. These are all Mu’jizaat, miracles. So what did Allah ta’ala give to the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam?
{إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِى لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ (١) وَمَآ أَدۡرَٮٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ} 97-1,2
Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave His Habeeb the miracle of the Qur’an al-Hakeem. The Qur’an was his Mu’jiza. So all the Prophets had miracles according to the needs of their time. When each Prophet departed, his Mu’jiza would go – the miracles were restricted to that place and time. When Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam went, his miracle went, when Hadhrat Yusuf alayhi salam went, his miracle went, when Hadhrat Dawud alayhi salam went, his miracle went. The miracle of Hadhrat Saleh alayhi salam went with him, the miracle of Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam went with him. This is how it was with the Ambiya, the Prophets of Allah. So what of the Imam of the Ambiya? His miracle was such that until Qiyamah it will not disappear, SubhanAllah! Allah says of this miracle ‘I will protect this miracle. This is such a miracle that not one word of it can be changed, to the extent that I will even seal it within the hearts of children of this Ummah - a seven-year old girl can memorise it. I will seal it within the hearts of seventy-year old men and women. This Qur’an will be recited on the tips of the tongues of children.’ SubhanAllah, this is such a miracle. And further, this miracle will remain forever more until Qiyamah.
So brothers, a miracle is attached to a person, so that when Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam went, the miracle went, when Hadhrat Saleh alahyi salam went, his miracle went. But this miracle is continuing until Qiyamah, so obviously the person who was given the miracle will be present until Qiyamah. If the miracle has not disappeared, how can the person have disappeared? So what we realise is that the miracle of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam will continue until Qiyamah, and because his miracle will continue, so his Faidh and his blessings will continue until Qiyamah. His Shari'ah and Sunnah will continue until Qiyamah, alhamdulillah. No Shari’ah will come after that, no way, no Sunnah will come after the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam will come and he will implement the Sunnah and Shari’ah of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam; Hadhrat Mehdi alayhi salam will come, and he will implement the Sunnah and Shari’ah of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. They will not bring their Shari’ahs, but will follow the Muhammadi Shari’ah, SubhanAllah. The Mu’jiza continues, so his Faidh, his blessings, his effect will continue. What a fantastic miracle - amazing and surprising, by Allah.
How can a person reject now? So Allah says ‘Bring forth something like this now! { فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ} And if you don’t, if you can’t bring something forward, then you have to accept. You are forced to accept. You lose if you cannot meet the challenge, and you are forced to accept, because it becomes apparent that what We are saying is correct.’ Until Qiyamah, Allah ta’ala has challenged, saying ‘Bring the poets, bring people of cunning, bring anyone you want, but you will not be able to do it. You will not be able to compete. If you are humble and sincere, then you will accept that this is right.’ The surprising thing is that even after this, we reject. Even after this, we reject and shun. So what then? Even if we say that we accept, we reject the orders. We openly reject the Ahkams and do the opposite. We live our lives contrary to those orders, we rebel against the Ahkams of the Qur’an and the Shari'ah and Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, and then we claim that we love Allah and that we are hopeful of Allah’s Mercy and of the intercession of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Can there be a bigger deception of shaytan than this? Can there be? All our actions and lifestyles are against the religion. Our actions follow our desires, our Deen follows our desires, we are drowned in our desires. So what is this? This is shaytani delusion, deception and deviation. Allah says ‘You cannot make a Kalam comparable to this, and so you have lost the challenge and you have to accept.’
Allah ta’ala is asking ‘What Deen do you have then? What are you doing?’ So now, SubhanAllah, Allah states ‘You are practicing a satanic lifestyle and are following your desires. Those who reject and practice against My instructions { فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ } then prepare yourselves and guard yourselves against the fire. Due to your disobedience and your stubbornness, a punishment awaits, which is what? Fire!’ What kind of fire? Allahu Akbar - { ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ }. Look, we need to understand this. If you don’t have Iman and faith in this and you reject, or if despite your faith, your deeds and practices are opposite to this, then remember and prepare, for Allah says ‘You are going towards that fire.’
Allah says { ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ }. Allah has made a very beautiful and clear point here, which we may find strange, but a fire needs a fuel, whether coal or wood or petrol or oil. You need a fuel to burn in the fire, and the stronger the fuel, the more intense the burn of that fire. Yes? It depends on the energy and intensity of that fuel. If you want an intense, hot fire, then you need to burn fuel that has enough energy to give that intensity. The stronger the fuel, the more intense the combustion that will occur. Allah ta’ala says ‘Let Me tell you about the fuel of this fire of Jahannam. What will that fuel be? { ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ } Allahu Akbar – the fuel of the fire of Hell will be what? { وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ} - Its fuel will be human beings { وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ } and stones.’ Allahu Akbar – imagine the intensity of that fire.
Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated in an agreed-upon Hadith related by Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anh that “نَارُكُمْ جُزْءٌ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ جُزْءًا مِنْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ” - ‘Your fire is one seventieth fraction of the fire of Jahannam.’ For whom is this fire being prepared? For those people who reject, and those people who, despite knowing, live their lives opposite to the orders of Allah, who openly belittle the Shari'ah and Sunnah. Their whole lifestyle rejects the pattern of the Shari'ah and Sunnah. The pattern of their life is against the Shari'ah and Sunnah. They only follow the few things that they like. In other words, they adopt that which suits their whims and desires, and they leave the rest. They say ‘No need for more.’ They follow their own ways and desires – they have made their own Deen. Allah ta’ala states that this fire has been prepared for them. Allah ta’ala has created this fire for them.
{ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَا} 9-68
Allah ta’ala has prepared the fire of hell for the Munafiq men and the Munafiq women, and for the disbelievers. Allah is saying ‘I will definitely put those people therein. { وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَا} I have clearly made this promise to any Munafiq man or Munafiq woman.’ Who are those Munafiqs? Those who lie, saying that they love Allah and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, but their whole life is against the Sunnah and Shari’ah – their living, eating, drinking, walking, outside, inside the home, business, their whole life! Go to their homes and see – they are totally against the Shari’ah. They speak openly against the Shari’ah. So the Qur’an has announced { وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ} - Allah ta’ala has made a clear announcement and has put both groups together.
{ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَاۚ هِىَ حَسۡبُهُمۡۚ وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ۬ مُّقِيمٌ۬}9-68
And for those people, Allahu Akbar, the punishment of hell will be sufficient punishment for them. Allah ta’ala will make them distant from His Mercy. { وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ} Allah will make them distant from His Rahmah { وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ۬ مُّقِيمٌ۬} and they will have a permanent punishment. Who is this for? For hypocrites, men and women, who play games with the Deen, who mock the Deen, and for disbelievers. These people will have a such a reckoning that { وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ} the curse of Allah will be upon them. Allah will make them far from His Mercy, and Adhab will be permanent for them.
كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمۡ قُوَّةً۬ وَأَكۡثَرَ أَمۡوَٲلاً۬ وَأَوۡلَـٰدً۬ا فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعُواْ بِخَلَـٰقِهِمۡ فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم بِخَلَـٰقِكُمۡ ڪَمَا ٱسۡتَمۡتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُم } بِخَلَـٰقِهِمۡ وَخُضۡتُمۡ كَٱلَّذِى خَاضُوٓاْۚ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَـٰلُهُمۡ فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُون} 9-69
Allah says ‘Your situation is like those who came before you. Your condition is like that of people who came before you. How? { ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمۡ قُوَّةً۬ وَأَكۡثَرَ أَمۡوَٲلاً۬ وَأَوۡلَـٰدً۬ا} Allah says ‘You are happy due to your cars and your mansions in Pakistan, one house in Kashmir, a mansion here, another one there. The previous Munafiqeen were like this as well. Due to the Dunya, you have left the Shari’ah. Due to the Dunya, you have undertaken Haram actions. Due to not accepting Shari’ah, this Dunya is all for you.’ Allah ta’ala explains ‘You know that this is the Haq – Allah ta’ala’s Shari’ah is Haq, Allah ta’ala’s Deen is Haq.’ Allah ta’ala first explains the situation: ‘You accept everything, yet you are with those who reject, because if you reject after accepting, that is more dangerous. This is creating a new Deen. And why do you do this? Because the Dunya is your aim, your objective, so you lie to obtain Dunya, you trick people to obtain Dunya, you consume Haram to obtain Dunya, you make gatherings for Dunya - everything is for this. In your homes, immodesty and wrong actions can be seen.’ But Allah ta’ala says ‘Munafiqs are not a new thing. { كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ} The people before you were like this, without doubt.’
You think a lot of the world, due to this Deen of yours, Allahu Akbar. { كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُم} Qarun had so many keys to his treasure chests that it took many people to carry them. And he had metal keys, and wooden keys, and leather keys loaded onto camels – imagine how many keys he had. He was the cousin of Firawn. Allah ta’ala says ‘Will you amass more wealth than him, with your huge long cars? Oh foolish people, you know that you are wrong!’
{ كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمۡ قُوَّةً۬ وَأَكۡثَرَ أَمۡوَٲلاً۬ وَأَوۡلَـٰدً۬ا} Do you not see that the people who did this before you took a lot of benefits from the Dunya, which is what you are also doing.’ Then Allah ta’ala says { فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعُواْ بِخَلَـٰقِهِمۡ فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم بِخَلَـٰقِكُمۡ ڪَمَا ٱسۡتَمۡتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُم} Just as those people tried to take benefit from the world, you are also trying to benefit from the world. You will also immerse yourselves into wrong words and statements. They would always be drinking alcohol and acting immodestly and displaying their nakedness, and you too have screens and boxes so that you can sit at home and immerse yourselves in passions during the night. Just as they had gatherings in the night, you too have such gatherings, Allahu Akbar. Weird parties and celebrations and marriage parties and wedding anniversaries – these are all excuses for people to do wrong things. Allah ta’ala has no link with this. These are all excuses. They say ‘Today is my daughter’s this and tomorrow is my son’s that, and this function has this cake, and we are going to this person’s house and sitting there.’ And then, Allahu Akbar, look at the sins that follow in their attire, and their actions, in the music that plays.
Allah ta’ala says { أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَـٰلُهُمۡ فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ}. It is so sad that the actions of these people come to nothing in both this world and the life to come. Allah says ‘Where is your Salah and the Deen that I gave you? Where is your Hajj and your Umrah, through which you thought that you had succeeded, oh Munafiqs?’
{ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَاۚ } Allahu Akbar. Allah says ‘Look at your enjoyment and your parties and the things of the world that you run after. Open your eyes! You are wasting your Iman.’ Allahu Akbar. What is Allah ta’ala saying here? ‘Due to your deeds, you are wasting the biggest thing that Allah ta’ala has given to you – your Iman. You have belief. Why are you wasting this Iman that I have given to you? You are destroying your Dunya and your Akhirah.’
{ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ } Allah ta’ala says ‘Remember, you will be in a big loss. What you are trying to earn in the world is nothing. Allah ta’ala has clearly mentioned that fire compared to which the fire of the world is one seventieth fraction in intensity, whose fuel is what? Allahu Akbar. { فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ } Humans and stones! Have you ever seen a fire of the world whose fuel is men and stones? But Allah promises that this is the fire of Hell into which He will send the Munafiqeen and the Munafiqaat.
What is this fire? Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anh relates that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated: “أُوقِدَ عَلَى النَّارِ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ حَتَّى احْمَرَّتْ”. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated that first, Allah ta’ala burnt this fire for one thousand years until it became red, and then burnt it for another thousand years until it became white, and this was followed by another thousand years of burning after which it was burnt to blackness. Today it is black, intensely black in Jahannam. Allah ta’ala says that people will be thrown into this fire due to their disobedience. This Hadith is in Tirmdhi. This is the fire that Allah ta’ala has promised.
So my brothers, this so-called ‘enjoyment’ is not enjoyment. These games we play are temporary – this life is temporary. No’man bin Rashid radhiAllahu anh presented a beautiful Hadith. He relates that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam once declared loudly and passionately, and for a long time ‘I request you: fear the fire of Hell, fear the fire of Hell, fear the fire of Hell!’ He repeated this loudly and repeatedly and continuously until the cloak that he was wearing fell to his blessed feet due to the passion and intensity of his declaration. This is how passionately and clearly the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam explained this. So we see from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam that this fire whose fuel is men and stones is intense in its rage and heat. Allah ta’ala is trying to explain the uniqueness of that fire.
Allah ta’ala’s examples are beautiful and unique and fantastic so that we can understand. The fuel will be stones and men, so why has Allah ta’ala combined stones and men as the fuel for the fire of Hell? Why are both these fuels combined, and not just one or the other used? Stone is stone, and rock is rock – it can’t be a normal stone or rock, can it? These will be dark, intense, black stones, rock solid. So why have human beings been linked to them? Because the fire will be made of human beings who were themselves a combination of human and stone. The explanation of the Qur’an is ‘Ajeeb and beautiful! They were stones because things did not penetrate their hearts. Let us see how many people will reform themselves and improve themselves after hearing this verse that has been recited. How much will they adopt the Shari'ah and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and emulate his life? Nobody will do so because we are like rocks and stones. That is why this Adhab is given, because our hearts were like rocks and stones in the world, so we will be burnt with the rocks and stones in the fire. We were rocks and stones; we were barren.
And another meaning comes out. SubhanAllah, Allah’s examples are amazing. The disbelievers used to worship rocks and stones. They would carve and sculpt them into idols with their hands, and then prostrate to them. So due to those rocks and stones that they would carve, Allah ta’ala says ‘I have attached you and combined you with stones due to your worshipping of stones and rocks.’ These were those who had rejected and had no faith. And as for the Munafiqs, the Qur’an says { وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ}. Allah ta’ala is explaining to both. The people who rejected are combined with stones because they worshipped stones, and the Munafiqs, the others, have been attached to the stones because Nafs and base desires were present in their hearts, and this was also an idol. The disbelievers would make stones into idols and worship them, and the Munafiqs would make their hearts into idols and worship them by following their desires. That is why human beings will be the fuel along with the stones and the rocks in Jahannam. So those who had no faith would make idols out of stone and worship them, while the Munafiqs would make idols of their Nafs and desires in the depths of their hearts and worship that. In their hearts was the idol of the Nafs. The fire will be prepared with these - and what an amazing fire it will be; how intense it will be.
It comes in another Hadith narrated by Hadhrat No’man bin Rashid radhiAllahu anh that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated that the smallest punishment of Hell would involve putting on slippers whose intense heat would be such that the brain would boil like a cauldron boils over. Just imagine! Can a person remain like that for long? And he will be certain that his punishment is the worst type of punishment, but the Hadith states that this is the smallest punishment of Hell. This Hadith is in both Bukhari and Muslim. So what of the fire that Allah has promised whose fuel will be men and stones? What will be the condition of that fire? Why is Allah ta’ala giving these examples? So that our hard hearts, our rock-hard hearts, do not melt in that fire. May Allah ta’ala grant us His Mercy, so that we listen to this Qur’an and our hearts melt now!
{ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ} Allah ta’ala says ‘I have prepared this for the disbelievers, for those who have no Iman.’ How clearly and how severely Allah ta’ala has, in this verse, addressed those people who don’t believe in Allah, who don’t accept Allah – those who disbelieve – and also those people who do accept, but despite knowing Allah’s orders and Holy Prophet’s Shari'ah and Sunnah, they live their lives opposite to this. Allah ta’ala has given us a lesson here that Iman should be complete.
Listen again: one group are those who do not have faith; they reject, they disbelieve. The other group are those who have defective Iman; they have belief, but it is defective. Despite having Iman, despite the Shari'ah and Sunnah saying that they should follow the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, they live their lives against this. They follow their desires. The third group are those with complete Iman, Kamil Iman. What is that? It is to embrace the Sunnah and Shari’ah in all aspects of life. All profit and loss is based on Sunnah and Shari’ah. Profit and loss hinges on the Sunnah and Shari’ah. Obviously, a human being makes mistakes in life; obviously, he is prone to sin, to stumbling. If he slips and falls down and makes a mistake, then what do they do straight away? They repent, they do Tawbah, they ask Allah for forgiveness. These are those with Kamil Iman. If they slip or fall or make a mistake, they don’t hesitate. Immediately, they do Tawbah and ask Allah for forgiveness and say ‘Oh Allah, we won’t do this again.’ Who are these people? Those with Kamil Iman. Allah stated that these people, this Jamah, will be deserving of Allah ta’ala’s rewards in the Akhirah.
Let us pray to Allah ta’ala that Allah allows us to live our lives according to this verse of the Qur’an, that He gives us the Tawfeeq, the ability, to do so. Every single verse of Allah ta’ala’s Qur’an is reminding us and teaching us, and in this day and age, although there is a storm of non-religion, of no Deen, it is very easy to follow the Shari'ah and Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. How easy is it? We just need to put a knot in our desire. It doesn’t matter what happens, and it doesn’t matter who says what, whether somebody meets me or not, whether somebody comes close to me or not, even if everyone leaves me isolated, still I will implement and obey Allah ta’ala’s orders and I will live my life like this. Male or female, that is how easy Islam is. That is all we have to do. Remember this, and then Allah ta’ala’s help will descend, Allah ta’ala’s help will come and will take you forward. Allah ta’ala won’t let you get trapped or stuck in any difficulty. Have courage, determination and make the Niyyah, and inshaAllah, Allah’s assistance will come.
May Allah ta’ala give us all the ability to understand this Qur’an and the ability to practice upon it.
وأخر دعوانا أن الحمد لله رب العالمين
{فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ (٢٤)} 2-24
Surah al-Baqarah v24
Allah subhana wa ta'ala is addressing all of mankind here, all people. As we explained regarding the previous verse which we recited yesterday, Allah subhana wa ta'ala stated that the reason for rejection and hypocrisy, and refusal to practice, is the doubt that is embedded in the heart. In reality, there is doubt about Allah’s Habeeb, His Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam that Allah sent. Allah is saying ‘You don’t accept in your hearts that he is My Prophet, because you do not practice the Book that I sent him and the orders of that Qur’an. You reject, you refuse. You know and are aware, but you don’t accept in the right way. You practice according to how you want to do things. Whatever you like, you do, and what you dislike, you leave. According to the times and the generation, you practice what you want. You don’t implement what the Deen requires, rather you implement what you require, and what you want to do. And even if you do accept and practice, then in parallel you commit sins. You have mixed things with the Deen and contaminated it, and what is the reason for all of this? Shakk – doubt.’
Now Allah ta’ala has said that you can do something to get rid of doubt, but if you have doubt in the Qur’an it shows up in regard to practice of all three things. In this case, Allah ta’ala says ‘Bring a chapter, a Surah, that compares to the Qur’an. Bring one verse, one Surah – create it.’ Allah subhana wa ta'ala says clearly {فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ} ‘And if you don’t bring something comparable - and you can never do it anyway because you are liars. {فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَلَن تَفۡعَلُواْ} You know that this is Allah subhana wa ta'ala’s revelation, that this is the Book that He has revealed, so you will not be able to create a verse or a Surah or any words that compare. You cannot. You will not be able to bring anything.’ This is the Sunnah of Allah, that when different nations were sent their Prophets, they would be stubborn and would reject, just as Allah says you are rejecting and being stubborn. In the same way, when previous nations were also stubborn and rejected, Allah ta’ala gave miracles to those Ambiya, to those Prophets, and these miracles were from Allah so they could not respond to them; they were not capable and had nothing to offer. Allah ta’ala gave different miracles to different Prophets alayhim salam.
Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam was given various miracles - he had his staff, and his hand that shone; Hadhrat Yusuf alayhi salam, his miracle was his own beauty, his Husn; The miracle of Hadhrat Dawud alayhi salam was his beautiful, melodious voice; the kingdom of Hadhrat Sulayman alayhi salam was unlike any other kingdom; Hadhrat Saleh alayhi salam was given the she-camel; Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam would enable people who were deceased to come back to life, bring life to birds of clay, cure the sick – these were his miracles. SubhanAllah, he was born without a father, and he spoke when still a baby. So Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam had the miracle of the hand, Hadhrat Yusuf alayhi salam had the miracle of his beauty, the melodious voice of Hadhrat Dawud alayhi salam was his miracle, the vast kingdom of Hadrat Sulayman alayhi salam was his miracle, bringing the dead to life was the miracle of Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam. These are all Mu’jizaat, miracles. So what did Allah ta’ala give to the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam?
{إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِى لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ (١) وَمَآ أَدۡرَٮٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ} 97-1,2
Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave His Habeeb the miracle of the Qur’an al-Hakeem. The Qur’an was his Mu’jiza. So all the Prophets had miracles according to the needs of their time. When each Prophet departed, his Mu’jiza would go – the miracles were restricted to that place and time. When Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam went, his miracle went, when Hadhrat Yusuf alayhi salam went, his miracle went, when Hadhrat Dawud alayhi salam went, his miracle went. The miracle of Hadhrat Saleh alayhi salam went with him, the miracle of Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam went with him. This is how it was with the Ambiya, the Prophets of Allah. So what of the Imam of the Ambiya? His miracle was such that until Qiyamah it will not disappear, SubhanAllah! Allah says of this miracle ‘I will protect this miracle. This is such a miracle that not one word of it can be changed, to the extent that I will even seal it within the hearts of children of this Ummah - a seven-year old girl can memorise it. I will seal it within the hearts of seventy-year old men and women. This Qur’an will be recited on the tips of the tongues of children.’ SubhanAllah, this is such a miracle. And further, this miracle will remain forever more until Qiyamah.
So brothers, a miracle is attached to a person, so that when Hadhrat Musa alayhi salam went, the miracle went, when Hadhrat Saleh alahyi salam went, his miracle went. But this miracle is continuing until Qiyamah, so obviously the person who was given the miracle will be present until Qiyamah. If the miracle has not disappeared, how can the person have disappeared? So what we realise is that the miracle of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam will continue until Qiyamah, and because his miracle will continue, so his Faidh and his blessings will continue until Qiyamah. His Shari'ah and Sunnah will continue until Qiyamah, alhamdulillah. No Shari’ah will come after that, no way, no Sunnah will come after the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Hadhrat Isa alayhi salam will come and he will implement the Sunnah and Shari’ah of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam; Hadhrat Mehdi alayhi salam will come, and he will implement the Sunnah and Shari’ah of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. They will not bring their Shari’ahs, but will follow the Muhammadi Shari’ah, SubhanAllah. The Mu’jiza continues, so his Faidh, his blessings, his effect will continue. What a fantastic miracle - amazing and surprising, by Allah.
How can a person reject now? So Allah says ‘Bring forth something like this now! { فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ} And if you don’t, if you can’t bring something forward, then you have to accept. You are forced to accept. You lose if you cannot meet the challenge, and you are forced to accept, because it becomes apparent that what We are saying is correct.’ Until Qiyamah, Allah ta’ala has challenged, saying ‘Bring the poets, bring people of cunning, bring anyone you want, but you will not be able to do it. You will not be able to compete. If you are humble and sincere, then you will accept that this is right.’ The surprising thing is that even after this, we reject. Even after this, we reject and shun. So what then? Even if we say that we accept, we reject the orders. We openly reject the Ahkams and do the opposite. We live our lives contrary to those orders, we rebel against the Ahkams of the Qur’an and the Shari'ah and Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, and then we claim that we love Allah and that we are hopeful of Allah’s Mercy and of the intercession of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Can there be a bigger deception of shaytan than this? Can there be? All our actions and lifestyles are against the religion. Our actions follow our desires, our Deen follows our desires, we are drowned in our desires. So what is this? This is shaytani delusion, deception and deviation. Allah says ‘You cannot make a Kalam comparable to this, and so you have lost the challenge and you have to accept.’
Allah ta’ala is asking ‘What Deen do you have then? What are you doing?’ So now, SubhanAllah, Allah states ‘You are practicing a satanic lifestyle and are following your desires. Those who reject and practice against My instructions { فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ } then prepare yourselves and guard yourselves against the fire. Due to your disobedience and your stubbornness, a punishment awaits, which is what? Fire!’ What kind of fire? Allahu Akbar - { ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ }. Look, we need to understand this. If you don’t have Iman and faith in this and you reject, or if despite your faith, your deeds and practices are opposite to this, then remember and prepare, for Allah says ‘You are going towards that fire.’
Allah says { ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ }. Allah has made a very beautiful and clear point here, which we may find strange, but a fire needs a fuel, whether coal or wood or petrol or oil. You need a fuel to burn in the fire, and the stronger the fuel, the more intense the burn of that fire. Yes? It depends on the energy and intensity of that fuel. If you want an intense, hot fire, then you need to burn fuel that has enough energy to give that intensity. The stronger the fuel, the more intense the combustion that will occur. Allah ta’ala says ‘Let Me tell you about the fuel of this fire of Jahannam. What will that fuel be? { ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ } Allahu Akbar – the fuel of the fire of Hell will be what? { وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ} - Its fuel will be human beings { وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ } and stones.’ Allahu Akbar – imagine the intensity of that fire.
Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated in an agreed-upon Hadith related by Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anh that “نَارُكُمْ جُزْءٌ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ جُزْءًا مِنْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ” - ‘Your fire is one seventieth fraction of the fire of Jahannam.’ For whom is this fire being prepared? For those people who reject, and those people who, despite knowing, live their lives opposite to the orders of Allah, who openly belittle the Shari'ah and Sunnah. Their whole lifestyle rejects the pattern of the Shari'ah and Sunnah. The pattern of their life is against the Shari'ah and Sunnah. They only follow the few things that they like. In other words, they adopt that which suits their whims and desires, and they leave the rest. They say ‘No need for more.’ They follow their own ways and desires – they have made their own Deen. Allah ta’ala states that this fire has been prepared for them. Allah ta’ala has created this fire for them.
{ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَا} 9-68
Allah ta’ala has prepared the fire of hell for the Munafiq men and the Munafiq women, and for the disbelievers. Allah is saying ‘I will definitely put those people therein. { وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَا} I have clearly made this promise to any Munafiq man or Munafiq woman.’ Who are those Munafiqs? Those who lie, saying that they love Allah and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, but their whole life is against the Sunnah and Shari’ah – their living, eating, drinking, walking, outside, inside the home, business, their whole life! Go to their homes and see – they are totally against the Shari’ah. They speak openly against the Shari’ah. So the Qur’an has announced { وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ} - Allah ta’ala has made a clear announcement and has put both groups together.
{ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَاۚ هِىَ حَسۡبُهُمۡۚ وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ۬ مُّقِيمٌ۬}9-68
And for those people, Allahu Akbar, the punishment of hell will be sufficient punishment for them. Allah ta’ala will make them distant from His Mercy. { وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ} Allah will make them distant from His Rahmah { وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ۬ مُّقِيمٌ۬} and they will have a permanent punishment. Who is this for? For hypocrites, men and women, who play games with the Deen, who mock the Deen, and for disbelievers. These people will have a such a reckoning that { وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ} the curse of Allah will be upon them. Allah will make them far from His Mercy, and Adhab will be permanent for them.
كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمۡ قُوَّةً۬ وَأَكۡثَرَ أَمۡوَٲلاً۬ وَأَوۡلَـٰدً۬ا فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعُواْ بِخَلَـٰقِهِمۡ فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم بِخَلَـٰقِكُمۡ ڪَمَا ٱسۡتَمۡتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُم } بِخَلَـٰقِهِمۡ وَخُضۡتُمۡ كَٱلَّذِى خَاضُوٓاْۚ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَـٰلُهُمۡ فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُون} 9-69
Allah says ‘Your situation is like those who came before you. Your condition is like that of people who came before you. How? { ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمۡ قُوَّةً۬ وَأَكۡثَرَ أَمۡوَٲلاً۬ وَأَوۡلَـٰدً۬ا} Allah says ‘You are happy due to your cars and your mansions in Pakistan, one house in Kashmir, a mansion here, another one there. The previous Munafiqeen were like this as well. Due to the Dunya, you have left the Shari’ah. Due to the Dunya, you have undertaken Haram actions. Due to not accepting Shari’ah, this Dunya is all for you.’ Allah ta’ala explains ‘You know that this is the Haq – Allah ta’ala’s Shari’ah is Haq, Allah ta’ala’s Deen is Haq.’ Allah ta’ala first explains the situation: ‘You accept everything, yet you are with those who reject, because if you reject after accepting, that is more dangerous. This is creating a new Deen. And why do you do this? Because the Dunya is your aim, your objective, so you lie to obtain Dunya, you trick people to obtain Dunya, you consume Haram to obtain Dunya, you make gatherings for Dunya - everything is for this. In your homes, immodesty and wrong actions can be seen.’ But Allah ta’ala says ‘Munafiqs are not a new thing. { كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ} The people before you were like this, without doubt.’
You think a lot of the world, due to this Deen of yours, Allahu Akbar. { كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُم} Qarun had so many keys to his treasure chests that it took many people to carry them. And he had metal keys, and wooden keys, and leather keys loaded onto camels – imagine how many keys he had. He was the cousin of Firawn. Allah ta’ala says ‘Will you amass more wealth than him, with your huge long cars? Oh foolish people, you know that you are wrong!’
{ كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمۡ قُوَّةً۬ وَأَكۡثَرَ أَمۡوَٲلاً۬ وَأَوۡلَـٰدً۬ا} Do you not see that the people who did this before you took a lot of benefits from the Dunya, which is what you are also doing.’ Then Allah ta’ala says { فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعُواْ بِخَلَـٰقِهِمۡ فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم بِخَلَـٰقِكُمۡ ڪَمَا ٱسۡتَمۡتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُم} Just as those people tried to take benefit from the world, you are also trying to benefit from the world. You will also immerse yourselves into wrong words and statements. They would always be drinking alcohol and acting immodestly and displaying their nakedness, and you too have screens and boxes so that you can sit at home and immerse yourselves in passions during the night. Just as they had gatherings in the night, you too have such gatherings, Allahu Akbar. Weird parties and celebrations and marriage parties and wedding anniversaries – these are all excuses for people to do wrong things. Allah ta’ala has no link with this. These are all excuses. They say ‘Today is my daughter’s this and tomorrow is my son’s that, and this function has this cake, and we are going to this person’s house and sitting there.’ And then, Allahu Akbar, look at the sins that follow in their attire, and their actions, in the music that plays.
Allah ta’ala says { أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَـٰلُهُمۡ فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ}. It is so sad that the actions of these people come to nothing in both this world and the life to come. Allah says ‘Where is your Salah and the Deen that I gave you? Where is your Hajj and your Umrah, through which you thought that you had succeeded, oh Munafiqs?’
{ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَاۚ } Allahu Akbar. Allah says ‘Look at your enjoyment and your parties and the things of the world that you run after. Open your eyes! You are wasting your Iman.’ Allahu Akbar. What is Allah ta’ala saying here? ‘Due to your deeds, you are wasting the biggest thing that Allah ta’ala has given to you – your Iman. You have belief. Why are you wasting this Iman that I have given to you? You are destroying your Dunya and your Akhirah.’
{ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ } Allah ta’ala says ‘Remember, you will be in a big loss. What you are trying to earn in the world is nothing. Allah ta’ala has clearly mentioned that fire compared to which the fire of the world is one seventieth fraction in intensity, whose fuel is what? Allahu Akbar. { فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ } Humans and stones! Have you ever seen a fire of the world whose fuel is men and stones? But Allah promises that this is the fire of Hell into which He will send the Munafiqeen and the Munafiqaat.
What is this fire? Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anh relates that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated: “أُوقِدَ عَلَى النَّارِ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ حَتَّى احْمَرَّتْ”. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated that first, Allah ta’ala burnt this fire for one thousand years until it became red, and then burnt it for another thousand years until it became white, and this was followed by another thousand years of burning after which it was burnt to blackness. Today it is black, intensely black in Jahannam. Allah ta’ala says that people will be thrown into this fire due to their disobedience. This Hadith is in Tirmdhi. This is the fire that Allah ta’ala has promised.
So my brothers, this so-called ‘enjoyment’ is not enjoyment. These games we play are temporary – this life is temporary. No’man bin Rashid radhiAllahu anh presented a beautiful Hadith. He relates that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam once declared loudly and passionately, and for a long time ‘I request you: fear the fire of Hell, fear the fire of Hell, fear the fire of Hell!’ He repeated this loudly and repeatedly and continuously until the cloak that he was wearing fell to his blessed feet due to the passion and intensity of his declaration. This is how passionately and clearly the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam explained this. So we see from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam that this fire whose fuel is men and stones is intense in its rage and heat. Allah ta’ala is trying to explain the uniqueness of that fire.
Allah ta’ala’s examples are beautiful and unique and fantastic so that we can understand. The fuel will be stones and men, so why has Allah ta’ala combined stones and men as the fuel for the fire of Hell? Why are both these fuels combined, and not just one or the other used? Stone is stone, and rock is rock – it can’t be a normal stone or rock, can it? These will be dark, intense, black stones, rock solid. So why have human beings been linked to them? Because the fire will be made of human beings who were themselves a combination of human and stone. The explanation of the Qur’an is ‘Ajeeb and beautiful! They were stones because things did not penetrate their hearts. Let us see how many people will reform themselves and improve themselves after hearing this verse that has been recited. How much will they adopt the Shari'ah and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and emulate his life? Nobody will do so because we are like rocks and stones. That is why this Adhab is given, because our hearts were like rocks and stones in the world, so we will be burnt with the rocks and stones in the fire. We were rocks and stones; we were barren.
And another meaning comes out. SubhanAllah, Allah’s examples are amazing. The disbelievers used to worship rocks and stones. They would carve and sculpt them into idols with their hands, and then prostrate to them. So due to those rocks and stones that they would carve, Allah ta’ala says ‘I have attached you and combined you with stones due to your worshipping of stones and rocks.’ These were those who had rejected and had no faith. And as for the Munafiqs, the Qur’an says { وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡكُفَّارَ}. Allah ta’ala is explaining to both. The people who rejected are combined with stones because they worshipped stones, and the Munafiqs, the others, have been attached to the stones because Nafs and base desires were present in their hearts, and this was also an idol. The disbelievers would make stones into idols and worship them, and the Munafiqs would make their hearts into idols and worship them by following their desires. That is why human beings will be the fuel along with the stones and the rocks in Jahannam. So those who had no faith would make idols out of stone and worship them, while the Munafiqs would make idols of their Nafs and desires in the depths of their hearts and worship that. In their hearts was the idol of the Nafs. The fire will be prepared with these - and what an amazing fire it will be; how intense it will be.
It comes in another Hadith narrated by Hadhrat No’man bin Rashid radhiAllahu anh that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam stated that the smallest punishment of Hell would involve putting on slippers whose intense heat would be such that the brain would boil like a cauldron boils over. Just imagine! Can a person remain like that for long? And he will be certain that his punishment is the worst type of punishment, but the Hadith states that this is the smallest punishment of Hell. This Hadith is in both Bukhari and Muslim. So what of the fire that Allah has promised whose fuel will be men and stones? What will be the condition of that fire? Why is Allah ta’ala giving these examples? So that our hard hearts, our rock-hard hearts, do not melt in that fire. May Allah ta’ala grant us His Mercy, so that we listen to this Qur’an and our hearts melt now!
{ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ} Allah ta’ala says ‘I have prepared this for the disbelievers, for those who have no Iman.’ How clearly and how severely Allah ta’ala has, in this verse, addressed those people who don’t believe in Allah, who don’t accept Allah – those who disbelieve – and also those people who do accept, but despite knowing Allah’s orders and Holy Prophet’s Shari'ah and Sunnah, they live their lives opposite to this. Allah ta’ala has given us a lesson here that Iman should be complete.
Listen again: one group are those who do not have faith; they reject, they disbelieve. The other group are those who have defective Iman; they have belief, but it is defective. Despite having Iman, despite the Shari'ah and Sunnah saying that they should follow the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, they live their lives against this. They follow their desires. The third group are those with complete Iman, Kamil Iman. What is that? It is to embrace the Sunnah and Shari’ah in all aspects of life. All profit and loss is based on Sunnah and Shari’ah. Profit and loss hinges on the Sunnah and Shari’ah. Obviously, a human being makes mistakes in life; obviously, he is prone to sin, to stumbling. If he slips and falls down and makes a mistake, then what do they do straight away? They repent, they do Tawbah, they ask Allah for forgiveness. These are those with Kamil Iman. If they slip or fall or make a mistake, they don’t hesitate. Immediately, they do Tawbah and ask Allah for forgiveness and say ‘Oh Allah, we won’t do this again.’ Who are these people? Those with Kamil Iman. Allah stated that these people, this Jamah, will be deserving of Allah ta’ala’s rewards in the Akhirah.
Let us pray to Allah ta’ala that Allah allows us to live our lives according to this verse of the Qur’an, that He gives us the Tawfeeq, the ability, to do so. Every single verse of Allah ta’ala’s Qur’an is reminding us and teaching us, and in this day and age, although there is a storm of non-religion, of no Deen, it is very easy to follow the Shari'ah and Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. How easy is it? We just need to put a knot in our desire. It doesn’t matter what happens, and it doesn’t matter who says what, whether somebody meets me or not, whether somebody comes close to me or not, even if everyone leaves me isolated, still I will implement and obey Allah ta’ala’s orders and I will live my life like this. Male or female, that is how easy Islam is. That is all we have to do. Remember this, and then Allah ta’ala’s help will descend, Allah ta’ala’s help will come and will take you forward. Allah ta’ala won’t let you get trapped or stuck in any difficulty. Have courage, determination and make the Niyyah, and inshaAllah, Allah’s assistance will come.
May Allah ta’ala give us all the ability to understand this Qur’an and the ability to practice upon it.
