Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrated Nabi ﷺ said to me "Oh Abu Hurayrah, become a Muttaqi (possessor of Taqwa) and you will be the person who worships the most."

A worshipper is one who engages in voluntary deeds besides the faraaidh, such as Quran recitation, nafil Salah and fasting.
Worshippers may be deemed as "pious" due to thier constant worshipping Allah. Here Nabi ﷺ mentioned a "muttaqqi" so it tells us that muttaqi and a constant worshipper are 2 different things and here the higher grade given by the prophet is ﷺ to the Muttaqi.

If you desire the title of a constant worshipper it is not attained by continuous worship, rather if you attain taqwa and become a Muttaqi then you will also receive the position of being a constant worshipper.
The real objective is Taqwa! Every believer should strive to adopt Taqwa.

Worshippers aren't necessarily righteous, but the righteous are definitely worshippers even if they do not engage in abundance of worship.

We are passing through the moments of mercy and Allah swt has adorned ramadan with a great worship, known as fasting. How beautiful is it that that our entire daily routines have been altered (abstaining of food etc) due to coming of this beautiful month.

Thus, It is manifested that a great objective lies behind waking up for suhoor at dawn and breaking our fast at sunset.

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (those who have taqwa, the pious).

Here Allah has told us the objective of fasting. And until we understand and reach that purpose our fasts remain futile.
Allah swt says that the command of fasting was not only given to us, but also to the previous nations. So fasting is Obligatory upon us in order to achieve taqwa.

If we achieve taqwa through our fasting then we have achieved our objective and if we do not achieve our objective then we have simply wasted our fast.

The Condition and objective of fasting is to become Muttaqi and fasting isnt fulfilled merely by abstaining from food or drink , in reality we must also abstain from lying backbiting, consuming haraam and protecting our eyes, ears etc from Haraam.
And all of these collectively are defined as fasting and excersising these abstentions are known as taqwa!

The pious predecessors said that taqwa is a fear that is created within a person whereby acknowledging that he will eventually be present before Allah swt and will have to recompense for his deeds, and thus he does not commit a deed which may displease His lord. Developing this recognition within is called taqwa. And the one who possesses taqwa receives a great reward

Engaging in ibadah is one thing but possessing taqwa is something essential and necessary.
Just like a sick person is given a medicine and with that medicine it is essential to be cautious in order to restore health.
We engage in many worships yet we disobey Allah whilst doing so, which is incorrect.

Anyone can fast, non muslim or muslim but the distinguishing factor for us is our imaan and our abstention from haraam actions whilst fasting.

Once a woman backbited and Nabi ﷺ commanded her to vomit and all the pieces of flesh came out as she had backbited. So such big punishments are kept for lying backbiting gossiping etc. These grave sins must be abstained whilst fasting otherwise we end up spoiling our fasts.

These 30 days are a course in which the outcomes of fasting (if done in obedience) help us to achieve taqwa.

Nowadays we sin and we say "Allah is Ghafur Ar Rahim." But His qualities of Forgiveness serve as such when one actually seeks His repentance.
Taqwa is when one fears displeasing Allah.
The one who is successful is the one who has taqwa not the one who does the most worship.

From fajr till magrib we must abstain from committing sins using our ears eyes hands etc and Allah has given us a worship to support us in abstaining from such!
Allah assists us to achieve piety especially in this month, by imprisoning the devils. Allah grants us hunger to diminish our passions and desires and as a result we become weak and have no energy or passion to sin. This is in order for us to become righteous SubhaanAllah!

If we consider today, various types of food are available to us there is no shortage but we are prevented from eating as Allah swt has prevented us from doing so. likewise when the avenues of sins are available to us we must abstain from them knowing Allah has forbade us to do so. This month is a training ground for us and a practice of how to spend the rest of the year and to adopt this throughout our lives. And this is an example of how we should spend the rest of our lives.
Just as we comprehend that Allah is watching If we nullify our fast by eating something, we must create this awareness throughout the rest of our lives.

Success and paradise are only attained through taqwa/piety.
May Allah allow us to implement.
