What is the Real Objective of Dhikrullah?

A person is rewarded for his good deeds based on his intentions. We should understand why we perform dhikr. Many of us perform dhikr primarily because we want to earn rewards.
In reality, if a person performs a righteous deed according to the Sunnah, he will certainly be granted reward. However, our deeds should not be performed for the sake of worldly gain.

The conditions for an action to earn reward are that it is performed solely for the sake of Allah ta'ala and that it is in accordance with the Shariah. When these conditions are fulfilled, a person will certainly be rewarded.

Similarly, if dhikr is performed solely for the sake of Allah ta'ala, a person will be rewarded.
There are many Ahadith which mention the rewards of dhikr. We should therefore develop a passion and love for performing dhikr.
A person who abandons the prayer in congregation and has no concern whatsoever regarding this is suffering from a severe spiritual illness and is in need of a cure. Without treatment, his condition will only worsen.

We should visit the AwliyahAllah and request them to help remove the spiritual sicknesses within us. Those who abandon prayer may be overcome by the influence of Jinn and Shayateen, which incline them towards evil and prevent them from performing good deeds.

"O believers! Enter into Islam wholeheartedly and do not follow Satan’s footsteps. Surely he is your sworn enemy." [2:208]

The devils seek to prevent us from performing good deeds and lead us towards wrongdoing. This is their mission. This is why we should seek a cure rather than allow ourselves to remain in this state. A person may become spiritually weakened by neglecting the prayer due to these influences. When these influences are removed, a person naturally begins to develop a desire to pray.

Nabi ﷺ mentioned:
"Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun has risen, then he prays two Rak'ah, then for him is the reward like that of a Hajj and Umrah." He said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Complete, complete, complete.'" [Tirmidhi Shareef]

The ability to perform such a beautiful deed is granted through the company of the AwliyahAllah. A person begins to value the action of dhikr through this company. He does not feel compelled to remain for dhikr; rather, he develops the desire to perform dhikr himself.
This is because a special quality develops within a person through the company of the AwliyahAllah: love.

The quality of the Awliya
hod upbringing and teach them to become good human beings.
Similarly, the Sheikh has an even greater love for the creation of Allah ta'ala and shows care, compassion and concern towards his students.
Those who are connected to a Kaamil Sheikh will make the effort to remain in the Masjid after Fajr until sunrise and perform the Ishraq prayer before leaving. This habit is instilled through the company of the Sheikh.

We should follow the guidance which has been mentioned in the Ahadith. We should pray Fajr in this Masjid, perform dhikr, pray Ishraq and then leave. We should join the dhikr gathering after Fajr prayer on time. We should not delay and arrive ten or fifteen minutes later. Those who are ungrateful may eventually be deprived of such actions. Allah ta'ala takes away the love and passion for a deed from a person who is ungrateful.

If we have love for the deeds which Allah ta'ala has enabled us to perform, it means that we have recognised and valued those deeds. As a result, Allah ta'ala grants a person even greater love for them.
A person is granted tremendous reward for performing this beautiful action. We should have no doubt regarding the reward of a complete Hajj and Umrah, as this is a guarantee mentioned by the Prophet ﷺ himself.

Ladies can sit with wudu at home and participate in the Majlis. They can also perform the two Rak'ah of Ishraq. Even if a woman is sitting on her bed with wudu while engaging in dhikr, it is permissible. If she is feeding her child, she can listen to dhikr at the same time, and the child will also benefit from being exposed to the remembrance of Allah ta'ala.

Nowadays, many of us experience pain in our joints, knees and ankles. There is a cure for this.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Verily, every human being among the children of Adam was created with three hundred and sixty joints. Whoever exalts Allah, praises Allah, declares Allah is one, glorifies Allah, removes a rock from the roads of people, or a thorn, or a bone from the roads of people, and enjoins good and forbids evil by the number of those joints, he will walk on that day delivering himself from the Hellfire." [Muslim Shareef]

A person receives great benefit for his joints through performing dhikr in the morning. This is an excellent means of seeking relief from conditions such as arthritis.

Even if a person experiences bodily pain, through performing these actions he may experience a reduction in the severity of that pain compared to what he experienced previously. Allah ta'ala grants a person the ability to bear the pain and provides him with relief. This is a promise mentioned by the Prophet ﷺ.
The true objective of performing dhikr is not simply to earn reward, because through the mercy of Allah ta'ala, a person will be rewarded anyway. Rather, a person performs dhikr to prepare himself for the Hereafter.

Hadhrat Mu’adh ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Among which deeds are most beloved to Allah?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “That you die while your tongue is moist with the remembrance of Allah.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Ḥibbān Shareef]

The purpose of living in this world is to prepare ourselves to leave this world successfully. This i
s the real test. Our success will depend upon how well we prepare ourselves. At the time of death, a person will have no concern for worldly matters. He will despise even listening to worldly talk, and his only desire will be to attain salvation. He will wish for more time so that he can prepare himself further.

A person's state at the time of death is influenced by the way in which he prepared for the Hereafter throughout his life.

Praying, reciting the Qur'an and performing dhikr are not the ultimate objectives in themselves. Rather, developing love for these deeds and for worship will benefit us.

The love of Allah ta'ala will help us worship Him sincerely and transform our deeds into genuine acts of worship. With love for Allah ta'ala, a person can attain success. Our tongue being moist with dhikr at the time of death means that we should prepare ourselves throughout our entire lives by remembering Allah ta'ala.
At the time of death, it is the love of Allah ta'ala which will assist us.

Our focus in this life should be to acquire the love of Allah ta'ala and allow that love to permeate every aspect of our lives.
This is the true preparation for the Hereafter and for death. It is also the means through which we can perform genuine deeds solely for the sake of Allah ta'ala. In this manner, our worship becomes truly beneficial for us. Our prayers should prevent us from sinning, and our fasting should make us Muttaqi. These actions and habits should no longer be mere customs or routines for us; rather, they should transform our hearts and our lives.
How to Gain a Successful Death?
Whatever a person loves in this world is what will occupy his heart at the time of death.

If we establish a connection with Allah ta'ala in this world, it will benefit us in the Hereafter.
By performing dhikr abundantly, a person develops the love of Allah ta'ala, and this love assists him at the time of death.
How to Embed Allah ta'ala's Name Exclusively Within Our Hearts?
The more a person engages in dhikr, the more content he becomes with what he has.
He works the hours necessary to earn enough to suffice him rather than excessively pursuing wealth.
It is a shame that we can become so consumed by greed for the world. We chase after this world and become obsessed with earning wealth.
These worldly desires only come to an end when the love of Allah ta'ala overtakes the heart.
By constantly reciting the name of Allah ta'ala through Muraqabah, a person is continually reminded of who his Creator is.

A person cannot memorise the Qur'an simply by reading it once. He must repeat the verses constantly and continually revise what he has memorised. If he does not revise, he may make mistakes when reciting his memorisation during Taraweeh prayer when leading others.
Thus, success is achieved through repetition.
In the same way, it is necessary to continually repeat the name of Allah ta'ala in order to embed His remembrance within our hearts.

We must strive to become the Haafidh of dhikr and make an effort according to our capacity.
The more we revise and repeat His name in this world, the easier it will be for us to remember Allah ta'ala at the time of death.
The less dhikr a person performs, the weaker his state may become at the time of death. He may become increasingly attached to the world and fall into all kinds of wrongdoing.

The Ummah is facing a difficult s
tkr despite Allah ta'ala commanding us to remember Him constantly.

A person who is rich in worldly wealth may, in reality, be extremely poor if he cannot sleep peacefully at night, even if he worships throughout the day.
On the other hand, a poor person who is obedient and pious attains the mercy of Allah ta'ala.
Conversely, a person who remains distant from Allah ta'ala exposes himself to His punishment.
Every person, even if he is a grave sinner, can benefit by attending a gathering of dhikr.
We must learn dhikr from a Sheikh and begin making an effort according to our capacity.
We should not become discouraged because of our sins. Committing sins can occur, but we must constantly pick ourselves up after falling into sin.
There is a great solution to sinning: sincerely repent to Allah ta'ala and continue performing dhikr alongside that repentance.
We should never allow our sins to become a reason for abandoning dhikr. Rather, we should return to Allah ta'ala, repent sincerely and continue striving towards Him.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls of wisdom.
Ameen.
