Why is Tazkiyyah Important? - Part 25

Allah ta'ala grants us the opportunity to worship with ease and a person should make the most of this opportunity by performing worship in a beautiful manner.

Jumu'ah is the best day of the week. The right of this day, is that a person spends it with caution and respect.

On this day, a believer should take a bath, trim his nails and moustache, apply oil to the beard, apply perfume, apply Surmah and adorn himself with good clothes according to the Sunnah attire. It is also according to the Sunnah that a person arrives on time for Jumu'ah and recites Surah Kahf. A person should also try to recite Surah Jumu'ah if he is able to.

We should dress well for the sake of Allah ta'ala only and then thank Him for the opportunity of wearing nice clothes on this special day. We should give preference to the colour white, as it is from the Sunnah.

The sanctity of this day is unique and deserves special respect. A person should guard himself against sins, minimise worldly activities, and devote the day to worship. Amongst the best forms of worship is to recite Durood Shareef in abundance, between three hundred and three thousand times. Even if one is occupied with worldly affairs, he should keep a tasbih with him and continue reciting Durood Shareef. It is beneficial to set a specific target and strive to complete it.

The pious predecessors would begin preparing for this day from the night before. They would engage in abundant Dhikr.

Whatever Allah ta'ala likes, the value of that thing increases. Thus, the greatness of Jumu'ah is increased in comparison to all other days. This is due to the divine selection of Allah ta'ala.

Allah ta'ala has made this day great and has increased the rewards of Jumu'ah.

A person should arrive on time so that he may be present for the Khutbah. It is a Sunnah act, to listen attentively and look towards the Imaam when he is delivering the Khutbah, as this is part of showing respect for it.

We should display respect with others and avoid quarrelling. We should prioritise seating for the elderly, the weak and the pious people.

In return, a person is granted the rewards of all those who are sat in the row ahead of him because he sacrificed his own seat.

After the prayer of Jumu'ah, a person should not flee from the Masjid. Rather, he should remember Allah ta'ala, perform Muraqabah and then spread out in the world to seek the grace of Allah ta'ala.

فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَانتَشِرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَابْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ

"Once the prayer is over, disperse throughout the land and seek the bounty of Allah." [62:10]

If a person who goes out to earn after performing Jumu‘ah in this manner will find his earnings filled with blessings and the grace of Allah ta‘ala, even if the amount he earns is little.

We should be thankful to Allah ta'ala for allowing us to partake in Dhikr and Muraqabah during this special day. In the Hereafter, we will regret not making the most of our worldly opportunities to remember Allah ta'ala. We should make it a point to travel to those Masaajid in which the Dhikr gatherings take place. Such gatherings are considered a portion of Paradise, thus, we should put our pride aside and learn to crush our desires. We should make sacrifices to attend and as a result, we will never earn a loss.

We should prioritise benefit for our Hereafter and stop considering ourselves superior to others.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls of wisdom. Ameen
