Jewels of Ramadhan 2026- Episode 37

What is the difference between the Muslims and Non Muslims?

The difference between Muslims and non-Muslims, after accepting faith, is reflected in many aspects of life. It shows in their lifestyle, their way of thinking, their beliefs and values, their actions, the company they keep, and ultimately the path they follow and their final destination.

We should assess ourselves if we are totally different from the Non Muslims. Only then, we have valued our faith.

The most precious gift granted by Allah ta‘ala is faith. Without it, we would not be where we are today. Faith brings a person back to reality and enables them to live in a way that pleases Allah ta‘ala.

Even if this understanding comes later in life, at seventy years old, for example, it is not a loss. A delay does not matter as long as a person eventually understands and returns to their true purpose and destination.
The real danger lies in a person leaving this world in a state of rejection, for that would be truly devastating.

Allah ta‘ala could have made everyone a Muslim and filled the mosques, leaving no disbelievers. However, this world is a test for us. He has granted human beings free will and the ability to choose. Along with this, He has sent guidance and blessed us with intellect. Mankind has been created as a complete and refined creation, lacking nothing essential. We have been made in the best form, with full consciousness and awareness. Unlike animals, human beings have been given the ability to think, understand, and exercise wisdom.

He has granted us intellect, self-control, and freedom of will. How we choose to use this intellect and wisdom is the essence of the test. If we use it only to chase worldly gain and commit oppression, then that is a choice we have made ourselves and we will face the consequences of those actions. We have been given the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. If we still choose to engage in what is impure or harmful, then the responsibility lies with us alone.

Lying carries a foul stench, so much so that when a person lies, it is said the angels distance themselves far away. Some people resort to lying in order to gain worldly success, such as acquiring wealth through unlawful means. In doing so, they fail this test. In reality, such wealth brings no true benefit.

When a person sincerely repents, they are granted awareness of their wrongdoing. As a result, they strive to remove from their lives any wealth that is doubtful or unlawfully acquired, such as money gained through interest.

Wealth can be a great test, even when it is acquired lawfully. We should pray to Allah ta‘ala to grant us wealth that does not become a source of trial or temptation. Some people may be given a million, yet it may not be a test for them because of their piety. Others, however, may face loss or ruin through the very same wealth if it leads them away from the right path.

It is unfortunate that Shaytan often deceives us into thinking that our acts of worship make us free from faults and mistakes. This is all deception.

No one leaves the comfort of their home except to earn a livelihood, making great sacrifices in the pursuit of wealth. In the same way, the one who loves Allah ta‘ala travels in His path, making sacrifices to attend gatherings of dhikr and remembrance. In return, Allah ta'ala grants them great provisions.

It is mentioned in Tabrani Shareef that a woman came to the Prophet ﷺ seeking advice. She asked for a simple deed through which she could become beloved to Allah ta‘ala and earn His pleasure. The Prophet ﷺ replied and informed her that it was the remembrance of Allah ta'ala.

Through Dhikr, a person is drawn closer to Allah ta'ala. It is the greatest deed as it directly purifies the heart so that one can be connected to Allah ta'ala and become His beloved. Thereafter, Allah ta‘ala commands the angels to proclaim His love for that servant and to spread this love among the creation. Acceptance is placed for that person on the earth, and even the creation begins to show respect towards them.
This is the strength of Imaan when it is truly utilised. We must take benefit from our faith and strive to earn the love of Allah ta‘ala in return.

Nothing will accompany us in our graves except Dhikr. It serves as a protection for a person in the grave. If we neglect Dhikr, we are wasting valuable time. Glad tidings are for those who honour Dhikr, travel for it, love one another for its sake, and dedicate themselves to it. They are the truly successful ones.

We should teach our children to have deep respect for the Khanqah. It is important that we honour such places, as the name of Allah ta‘ala is constantly remembered and recited there.
We should avoid raising our voices or engaging in unnecessary talk within the Khanqah. Maintaining proper etiquette reflects our respect for these blessed gatherings, and neglecting this respect can lead to serious consequences.

A WaliAllah can never be illiterate, for there is no one more learned than a WaliAllah. We should not begin to search for faults or scrutinise the actions of a Wali of Allah, noting down every detail and technical point. A Khanqah is not a place like a Darul Uloom for education, it is a place for spiritual growth and reformation. Therefore, one should come with humility and sincerity, focusing on personal improvement.

The true scholar is he who lives his life cautiously. He possesses greater level of taqwa and fear of Allah ta'ala than the common man.

When Allah ta‘ala grants a person the opportunity to come to the Khankah, but they fail to benefit from its guidance or improve their life, then that opportunity will very soon be taken away. This happens when one does not value righteous company or is unwilling to act due to arrogance. Such moments are a blessing, and they should be appreciated with humility, sincerity, and a genuine effort to change.

We should strive to correct our Deen through the Khanqah and hold ourselves accountable. We must enter with respect and leave with the same level of honour and dignity. The Wali of Allah should be valued, and we should visit him with the utmost manners and humility.

Before attending, we should cleanse our hearts of negative thoughts. If a person feels they are not benefiting from a particular Sheikh's company, they may leave respectfully without causing any disrespect. However, if the heart recognises that true Deen is found there, then one should attach themselves to that teacher and remain committed to learning from him throughout their life. In this way, he will achieve progress and results and his shortcomings will gradually be removed.

We should never lose hope, because when a person sincerely connects themselves to a Wali of Allah, they are not left deprived or empty-handed. Such a person is granted great spiritual benefit and security, and by the mercy of Allah ta‘ala, they are blessed to leave this world with faith.

We should attach ourselves to a righteous guide and build a strong connection with him. To do so, we should repent sincerely under his guidance. If we make Tawbah during this blessed time through a Sheikh, we will become the beloved of Allah ta'ala. This sincere repentance is in fact, rare to find. By adhering to his guidance and acting upon his instructions, a person is granted success.

We should make full use of the opportunity we have in the Khanqah. Newcomers should learn Tawbah, while those who have already repented, should strive to strengthen their Tawbah and deepen their connection with Allah ta‘ala.
They should hold themselves accountable for their wrongdoing and sins, continually reflecting and working to improve.

One receives immense reward by serving the Khanqah and attending to its travellers. Being an attendant of the Khanqah is a noble act, and those who serve sincerely are promised Paradise and intercession in the Hereafter.
Through service, a person’s pride is removed, and humility is instilled. Even simple acts, such as straightening shoes, can cultivate piety and draw one closer to Allah ta‘ala.

When a person is granted the opportunity to serve the Khanqah, it is a high honour and a great blessing. One must not become proud or show off. Instead of arguing or seeking recognition, one should approach this service with humility and sincerity.

Performing physical acts of worship is relatively easy. What is far more difficult, yet essential, is purifying the heart from spiritual diseases and instilling true humility. When we are humble, Allah ta‘ala elevates our status. If we wish to attain greatness, it should be through Taqwa - the fear and consciousness of Allah ta'ala. Considering others as superior to ourselves is one of the best deeds and a true sign of spiritual excellence.

If Allah ta‘ala grants us a treasure or an opportunity to perform a good deed, it is not our personal achievement. Rather, it is a blessing from Him, and He can take it away at any moment. We should be grateful for such opportunities and remain humble. If we are sincere in the company of the AwliyahAllah, we can attain success even in a single moment, by the mercy and blessings of Allah ta‘ala.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
