Every moment of Ramadan is extremely valuable for us. Now that we have entered the final part of the month, we must be even more mindful of how we spend these days, as they are the days in which we will receive the results of our actions.
We should pray for our Hereafter during these last ten days.
During the day we may be occupied with our worldly responsibilities, however, we should not allow our moments to go to waste. The best way to make every moment of the day valuable is to engage in the Dhikr of the heart. This form of remembrance does not require a person to close their eyes or be present in the mosque. Rather, it can be performed at any time and in any situation.
When we say “Allahu Akbar” at the beginning of our prayer, we set aside all worldly actions and thoughts in order to focus completely on our worship. By doing this, we are able to experience a deeper connection and greater enjoyment in our prayer. In the same way, we should strive to live our entire lives with our hearts focused on Allah ta‘ala. To help us achieve this constant awareness, we have been granted Dhikr.
The heart has been created with the ability to remember Allah ta‘ala constantly. Dhikr is performed within the heart and the heart controls the entire body.
The Dhaakir remains focused on his heart even while being physically occupied with worldly matters. Dhikr may be performed at any given time and a person is able to perform this Dhikr even without being in the state of wudu.
No matter in what condition we recite the name of Allah ta‘ala - whether with wudu or without, lying down or sitting, or even in a state of negligence or laziness, it will certainly have a positive effect on a person.
Dhikr is the easiest and accepted deed in the eyes of Allah ta'ala. We should try our best to attend the three gatherings of Dhikr which take place daily. We should sacrifice everything in our way, our time and efforts to attend these Dhikr gatherings.
We should try to be in constant state of Dhikr during the day and this is achieved by constantly focusing our attention upon Allah ta'ala. When our thoughts begin to wander, we should constantly focus upon our heart. We should imagine the presence of our Sheikh and this is known as Tasawwur-e-Sheikh.
Allah ta'ala has granted us tools to attain His nearness. Practicing Tasawwur-e-Sheikh helps us to achieve the consciousness of Allah ta'ala. It is the first step to attaining His nearness and love.
We should learn the Dhikr of the heart and repent at the hands of a Sheikh. It is the best opportunity for ladies and children to also learn Dhikr. Tawbah performed during Ramadan is a thousand times more valuable than Tawbah performed in any other month.
لا اله الا الله نستغفر الله نسألك الجنه ونعوذ بك من النار
These are the four deeds which the Prophet ﷺ emphasised upon during this month.
Before performing Muraqabah, we perform the Dhikr using the rhythm of the beads. This method was introduced by Hadhrat Sheikh Fazal Ali Quraishi Rahmatullahi alayh and this act is essential. It is an act associated with the Naqshbandi order. We must fulfil the number of Tasbih according to the number given by our Sheikh and there are blessings in this action.
We should not be lazy in performing the Tasbih before engaging in Muraqabah. We must first fulfil the prescribed Tasbih given by the Sheikh. Thereafter, in order to perform Muraqabah, we should focus on our heart and recite “Allah, Allah” within our hearts.
May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
