Jewels of Ramadhan 2026- Episode 20

Nabi ﷺ was asked, "What is the best prayer?" He replied, "Dhikr of Allah." Then he was asked, "What is the best fast?" He replied, "Dhikr of Allah." Thereafter, he was asked, "What is the best Jihaad?" He replied, "Dhikr or Allah."

How is Dhikr connected to the best worship?

In the Hereafter, our deeds will be weighed upon the scale of sincerity.

The pious predecessors state that Dhikr is the soul of all worship and without it, our worship is weak. Sometimes the worship may even lead us to Hellfire, particularly when it is insincere and performed ostentatiously. Such deeds will not be accepted by Allah ta'ala.

As long as children are born into the Ummah who perform Dhikr, Allah ta'ala will not allow this nation to be destroyed no matter how many enemies surround them.
Scholars are the adornment of our time. A gathering that includes innocent children and honourable scholars is a sign of acceptance from Allah ta'ala. The respected scholars are those who have crushed their desires for the sake of partaking in the Dhikr gathering. A true scholar is he who purifies his inner self and is sincere.

In a Hadith, it is mentioned that such a time will come where the other nations will come together in order to destroy the Muslim nation.

The Prophet ﷺ was asked if the Muslims would be small in number that they would be ridiculed. He ﷺ responded that the Muslims would be high in number, they will be extremely wealthy and their mosques will be full of worship. They asked him why the Muslims will be weak and full of errors. Nabi ﷺ further went on to say that it was due to their love for the world and fear of death. This will be the cause of the Ummah's downfall.

The love for this world will never allow one to prepare for death. In order to prepare for death, we are first required to detach ourselves from the Dunya.

Abandoning the world does not refer to physically leaving this world. Rather, it means to have complete reliance upon Allah ta'ala for one's sustenance and not advancing towards doubtful and unlawful means in order to earn. When we lack trust and reliance on Allah ta'ala, our faith weakens. We begin to chase the prosperity of this world and we fail to prepare for the Hereafter.

Why is it that we have love for the world and fail to prepare for death?

Our worship lacks its soul, which is the true protection of our Deen. As a result, our acts of worship do not benefit us, and other nations are given the power to toy with us and place us under their control.

Every worship should include Dhikr and in this way, our worship will be based upon sincerity. When we perform worship in this way, then no power of the world can affect us.

The Dhikr is not the objective itself. Rather, it is the means to strengthen our worship and purify it from contamination.

Performing Dhikr has a direct impact upon a person's heart. If we desire to remove the worldly love and inclination from our heart, then we should perform Dhikr in high quantity.

"O believers! When you face an enemy, stand firm and remember Allah often so you may triumph." [8:45]

تُفْلِحُونَ

The pious predecessors have stated that this is a great word with a vast meaning. It refers to a person being granted benefit and success in all aspects of life - in this world and the Hereafter. Dhikr helps you succeed in all parts of life. lt will protect you and help you progress in this world and the Hereafter.

We should recognise our purpose of life and prepare for the Hereafter with sincerity whilst we have the opportunity, otherwise, we will regret failing to improve ourselves. Soon, we will depart this world and enter the next world. We will face tests and challenges in the next life, thus, we must take heed now.

We should not engage in Dhikr with improper intentions, such as seeking status, leadership, or recognition by hosting gatherings ourselves. Those who do so are following their desires and have not understood the true purpose of Dhikr.
In reality, Dhikr is performed to better our Hereafter. If our intentions are corrupt, we will not attain the desired results, nor will we achieve true success.

We should occupy ourselves in Dhikr in the form of a gathering and even when we are secluded. It will become a cause of strengthening this nation of Islam. It will transform our lifestyle, our thinking and even our worship and will cause us to become great Muslims.

If we wish to know whether our prayers are accepted, we should assess how much we remember Allah ta'ala. If we wish to see whether our fast is successful, then we should assess how much Dhikr we perfomed during the state of fasting.

If the soul of Dhikr is not present in the fast, then how can it be developed into a proper fast.

These gatherings of Dhikr are a great gift for us. Allah ta'ala is enabling us to partake in all three Dhikr gatherings during Ramadan. It is a shame that the Dunya overwhelms us and prevents us from worshipping and even then, we consider ourselves strong Muslims.

In reality, we are the reason for the Muslim nation being under attack today. It is a form of punishment for us by Allah ta'ala due to our lack of practice of the Deen and due to our sins.

Allah ta'ala is displeased with our deeds and if we truly practiced Deen in the correct manner, we will certainly be under the protection of Allah ta'ala from war and attacks.

Behind many of our actions, even Deeni actions, we intend worldly progress and gain. Unfortunately, we fall short in performing our deeds purely for the sake of Allah ta‘ala.

Dunya will be removed from our hearts through performing Dhikr and if we perform it in abundance, we will be successful.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
