Why is Tazkiyyah Important? - Part 11

The scholar has the highest status in Deen if he fulfils the rights of this title. The more a person has knowledge, the more humility he should adopt. If he maintains this title, then he will be granted a high status. Shaytan attacks the scholar through his knowledge and creates pride within the scholar, so either he will become an evil person or a beloved person to Allah ta'ala.

Humility is created in the Khankah. One learns to assign himself to Allah ta'ala and become humble. The real effort for a scholar is to submit himself to a waliAllah and to serve others.

Hadhrat Sheikh Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanwi Rahmatullahi alayh states that the scholar is he who lowers himself and considers others to be superior, he is gentle and calm. One does not become a true scholar simply through books.

The true scholar is he who does not even consider himself a scholar. He will not refer to himself as an "Aalim." Allah ta'ala then elevates the status of such a scholar and spreads and strengthens his knowledge. This humility and sincerity is learnt in the Khankah.

When one serves his Sheikh, he is granted the spiritual blessings.

Guidance is granted to a person when he has a desperate desire to be guided. If one has this intention whilst sat in the gathering, Allah ta'ala will make him WaliAllah as he departs this gathering.

I visited my Sheikh with a sincere desire and yearning. I was sat with my Sheikh for most of the day and those who attended the Majlis were surprised at my appearance and amazed that my Sheikh gave me permission with regards to all four Naqshbandi orders without attaining any lessons. They were surprised that I had achieved a high status very quickly. My Sheikh addressed the gathering and informed them that he had crushed my desires and removed the poison of the world from within, therefore, the Dunya will not impact me negatively. He instructed me to propagate the Deen in England so that I could impact and teach others to perform good deeds and earn Paradise. My Sheikh also instructed me to keep supplicating for him and his family.

The great student is he who supplicates for his Sheikh.

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا. وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا

"Successful indeed is the one who purifies their soul and doomed is the one who corrupts it!" [91:10&11]

It is not through lessons and Dhikr that one is made successful. Rather, it is through hard work that a person is elevated.

Successful is the one who has crushed his desires. The person who extracts his desires, he becomes such a human being that the impact of the world is eliminated from him. He has no concern with poverty, wealth. He is never impressed with the luxuries and comfort of the world.

If we visit the company of a teacher with such a yearning, then Allah ta'ala will remove the poison of our desires immediately. The Sheikh first assesses the passion and yearning of the student and he gives according to that.

Thus, we should assess our yearning and our desires. Unfortunately, we contaminate the objective of life whilst we chase the world. We assess the defects of others instead of our own. This is because we are full of ego and jealousy. We should have no concern with others and we should correct our intentions. We should form an honest desire and thereafter, it will not take long to become successful. It is us who delay meeting Allah ta'ala.

We should continue seeking Allah ta'ala and desiring to become closer to Him. We should never lose hope, whether we find Him or not. In both conditions, we should be happy and keep supplicating to Him. We should be steadfast upon the deeds Allah ta'ala has prescribed to us and whatever is not in our control, we should detach them from our lives and assign them over to Allah ta'ala.

Our focus should be upon what is in our control and capability whilst supplicate to Allah ta'ala requesting to become righteous. Whether we attain piety or not, we will be successful as long as we remain performing the good actions.

The Sheikh is the ocean of knowledge and he opens up the soul and heart of the student and allows the truth to be spoken.

We should record the words of our Sheikh and make this a habit. This will become a treasure for us and it will guide us. Whenever we have an issue in our life, we can resort to the precious gui
dsolved.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
