Preparation for Death

Our love for this world does not allow us to realise that every moment in life is precious. Death is a reality for everyone which we fail to prepare for. If we accepted it as a reality, we would prepare for it, instead of wasting our time.

We should utilise this time in the world to prepare. Those who prepare for the Hereafter, are considered the people of intellect. They work hard to amass deeds for the Hereafter and they refrain from wasting time. They eliminate the hurdles which restrict them from the preparation for the Hereafter. For example, they pause their worldly duties to fulfil the orders of Allah ta'ala, such as observing prayers.

Such people will become successful and when they depart this world, their graves will embrace them and they will be welcomed with the fragrance of Paradise.

Furthermore, only the one who prepares for the Hereafter, will be able to answer the questions of the grave successfully.

Allah ta'ala has commanded us to abstain from evil and those things which distance us from the Hereafter. Moreover, He has commanded us to perform good deeds with eagerness. This is a test for us in this life. However, Allah ta'ala has granted us the AwaliyahAllah as pillars of support to help us in this mission.

In order for a person to become steadfast in preparing for the Hereafter, he must adopt the company of a Sheikh who will encourage him towards good deeds and help him to shun evil deeds.

By sitting in his company, it becomes easier to protect ourselves from sins and we are able to overcome the hurdles preventing us from good.

The most foolish person is he who fails to prepare for the Hereafter.

The grave is the first abode of the Hereafter. It is the first phase after death. If we are earned comfort in our grave, then until Qiyamah, we will be comfortable and successful.

What is the preparation for the grave?

Nabi ﷺ said, "The son of Adam does not act with a deed better to save him from the punishment of Allah than with the remembrance of Allah.” [Musnad Ahmad Shareef]

It is unfortunate that many of us are devoid from performing dhikr and consider it an innovation due to the influence of Shaytan upon us.

In fact, Allah ta'ala selected His own name and taking His name to remember Him is a much loved action in the eyes of Allah ta'ala. Dhikr is the greatest preparation for the graves for which we should not make excuses for abandoning.

We should make a promise to love dhikr and be grateful to Allah ta'ala for granting us a teacher of dhikr. Allah ta'ala has made dhikr easy for us and made us able to recite His personal name wherever we are, sitting, standing and lying down. His name carries many blessings and it brings mercies in to our home.

Prayer is better than sleep. Allah ta'ala commands us to rise in the morning from our sleep and attend the Masjid for Fajr prayer.

We should try our best to at least recite two rakat in congregation, even if it means reciting short surahs in our prayer.

Allah ta'ala selects a special group of angels who descend at this time to assess those who have answered the invitation of Allah ta'ala. The angels come with the message that those who attended the masjid, have been forgiven and Allah ta'ala has increased their provisions.

Those who ignore the call, succumb to various evil actions. Their children end up following suit and consequently, all of them will be punished.
We should focus on reciting the name of Allah ta'ala in our heart if we desire success and we should abstain from wasting time. In such a way, if we are constantly mindful of our heart, we will be protected from sins and wasteful discussions.

If we perform dhikr of the heart, morning and evening, then the heart will continue beating throughout the day.

We should eliminate all hurdles which prevent us from the preparation for the Hereafter, such as the five times prayers.

We should make a promise to be steadfast upon praying five times prayer in congregation. We should partake in the morning and dhikr gatherings. Through these blessed gatherings, our sins are eliminated and Allah ta'ala sends His mercies upon us.

By adhering to both actions, we will be successful and prosperous.

When we are faced with some worldly gain which prevents us from our preparation for the Hereafter - such as the act of prayer, then we should consider this a test from Allah ta'ala and shun it immediately. If we do not, then we have failed.

No worldly restriction should stop us from attending the prayers in congregation.
If the prayer is missed, we should punish ourselves, give in charity and display remorse over our actions.

It is pointless that one adorns himself in the Sunnah garments outwardly whilst abandoning the Sunnah ways, abandoning prayers and consuming Haraam. Such a person will not be forgiven. In reality, by fulfilling our prayers, we are protecting our Imaamah Shareef and Sunnah garments.

We should warn those who do not pray in our homes. If we connect ourselves and display love towards those who disregard prayers, then we will be punished and reckoned in the Hereafter alongside them. We should break ties with those who abandon prayers.

We should attend both the dhikr gatherings daily and if we are not able to attend in present, we must partake via online.

Just as we partake in the dhikr gatherings, similarly, we will be gathered together in the Hereafter due to our love for the WaliAllah.

We should learn dhikr from the Sheikh and revive our hearts in order to attain forgiveness. We should not be hopeless over our sins as dhikr eliminates all sins.

Those who have learnt dhikr should ensure they perform five times prayers and perform dhikr morning and evening, otherwise they will be punished. This is the way to be successful.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
