Who are the Best?

Nafs and Shaytan cause us to become distracted from the preparation for our Hereafter.

What destroys a human being?
When a person is immersed in the world, becomes ignorant and fails to prepare for the Hereafter, he is destroyed. He may receive luxuries and comfort in this world, however, this prosperity is a great challenge for him.

Hadhrat Shu'ayb عليه السلام was sent to his people and he noticed that his people were satisfied in the world and were becoming neglectful of the reality of life. They possessed power and were immersed in luxury and comfort. He warned them of the punishment from Allah ta'ala.

This is a warning mentioned in the Quran which we should also take heed from. When a person is immersed in the world, it becomes detrimental for him, as he becomes distanced from Allah ta'ala as a result.

When a person is faced with hardship, he naturally turns towards deen. When he becomes comfortable in life and his wealth increases, he distances from the deen.

ۚ إِنِّي أَرَاكُم بِخَيْرٍ وَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيطٍ

"I do see you in prosperity now, but I truly fear for you the torment of an overwhelming Day." [11:84]

Hadhrat Shu'ayb عليه السلام would pray and supplicate to Allah ta’ala profusely. His people would mock him. Similarly, today, when we try to practice and encourage our children, we are also mocked.

Whatever is written in our destiny with regards to materialism, will certainly reach us. However, we should be careful and not immerse ourselves in earning, otherwise, we will become destroyed. It is pointless having much wealth whilst being distanced from Allah ta'ala.

Allah ta'ala grants us opportunities and repeated warnings to take heed. If we fail to take heed and continue focusing on worldly progression, we will be punished. Even if one person fails to pray in our home, the entire household will be punished. Relationships with our dependants should be maintained only when the connection of Allah ta'ala is present. If a child fails to pray, ties should be severed. This is the faith which is taught to us.

If we live in balance and obey Allah ta'ala and His Messenger ﷺ, then we are permitted to drink, eat and enjoy. Such a person will progress in this world and the Hereafter.

We must live according to the lifestyle which Allah ta'ala has scheduled for us. If we live in such a way and we face problems, then in reality, we are being granted promotion and advancement. This is because a person does not face loss when he lives his life according to the desire of Allah ta'ala.

We do not have the fear of Allah ta'ala and that is why we do not have the deen at home.

Hadhrat Shu'ayb عليه السلام's people continued to mock and disobey him and they failed to reform themselves. Thus, they were given a unique punishment from Allah ta'ala. They were given three severe punishments in total and they were eventually destroyed.

True believers have fear of Allah ta'ala with every footstep they take. Abandoning prayers, immodesty, being stubborn and angry in front of our children, are major sins according to Ahadith. Unfortunately, we have no fear regarding these sins which we commit.

Success depends upon the Kalimah. The more a person recites the Kalimah with sincerity, faith and belief, the more a person will progress and advance and his face will be illuminated in the Hereafter.

The Kalimah refers to upholding the laws of Allah ta'ala and considering it to be correct and the most important thing in our lives.

It is natural for ones faith to fluctuate. However, the more we recite the Kalimah with faith, the more our faith will brighten and strengthen.

In a Hadith Nabi ﷺ describes the best person. "Hadhrat Asma’ bint Yazid reported: Nabi ﷺ said, “Shall I not tell you about the best of you?” They said, “Of course.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Those who, if they are seen, they remind you of Allah..." [Al-Adab al-Mufrad Shareef]

The best person is he who remembers Allah ta'ala and when you see him, you remember Allah ta'ala.

Nabi ﷺ also stated, “That I sit with people remembering Allah from Fajr until sunrise, is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from amongst the Children of Ismāʿīl (ʿalayhis-salām). That I sit with people remembering Allah from ʿAṣr until the sun sets is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from amongst the Children of Ismāʿīl (ʿalayhis-salām)." [Abu Dawud Shareef]

If we had full certainty in Nabi ﷺ's words, we would not be chasing the wealth of the world and materialistic things. Rather, we would be working harder to become the 'best person' and we would encourage our children upon this path too.

In reality, one who practices upon this Hadith, has gained everything in life as he is following the direction of the Prophet ﷺ.

If it was deemed crucial, Nabi ﷺ could have taught us how to acquire wealth in this world, however, he did not, as worldly wealth carries no value. Rather, he taught us to acquire the success of the Hereafter.

Instead of chasing and wishing for worldly assets, we should focus on strengthening our connection with Allah ta'ala. In return, Allah ta'ala will fulfil all our needs and take care of us.

We should not allow the comforts and blessings of the world to eradicate the fear we have of Allah ta'ala. We should not be immersed in such a state of prosperity whereby the orders of Allah ta'ala are being compromised and we are disobeying Him. If we lead such a lifestyle, we should be warned that the punishment of Allah ta'ala will soon befall us.

Islam does not prohibit running a business or acquiring wealth. Rather, His disobedience should not be contaminated with our occupations and earnings, otherwise, we will be worthy of Allah ta'ala's punishment.

If we implement this Hadith, we will gain the direct attention and mercy of Allah ta'ala. Nafs and Shaytan may attempt to deviate us which is why it is important that we strive to work hard.
The Khankah are populated for the purpose of the dhikr of Allah ta'ala and the Dhaakireen are the best human beings. Dhikr is an action which may be performed and learnt in any generation. It is a great weapon and Dajjal will not be able to defeat the Dhaakir.

Those who sit in dhikr, are the best people and acting upon the orders of the Prophet ﷺ, is considered the only true miracle one may possess. Such people are deserved of having their supplications answered and they are protected from sins. They may face temporary struggles, however, these trials are to strengthen their certainty.

This Hadith defines the best person in society. We should strive to become such a person and anticipate a beautiful death. The dhikr of Allah ta'ala is full of goodness and it distances a person from sin. Light emanates from a Dhaakir and others are influenced by them. The disbelieving person is impressed by a Dhaakir who has been protected by sins.

We should be steadfast upon dhikr and dedicate our mornings and evenings for it. We should attend both dhikr gatherings daily and in between, we should live a lifestyle according to the Sunnah. In such a way, our life will become Paradise.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
