What are the Two Points for Success?

"He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days—and His Throne was upon the waters—in order to test which of you is best in deeds." [11:7]

Allah ta'ala created the heavens and the earth in six days and then He sat upon His throne which was upon water. Water is the foundation of everything. Humankind are made from a droplet of water.

The people of wisdom have an understanding of what Allah ta'ala has created. Allah ta'ala mentions the different forms of creation in the Quran.

Allah ta'ala has made the world, the stars, the rain and the sun for us to take benefit from. He has provided us sustenance through the world which we will be reckoned for in the Hereafter.

We are extremely valuable to Allah ta'ala that He has made various kinds of animals for our sustenance. Allah ta'ala has prepared much for us and has made us from amongst the best forms of creation. The other forms of creation were made for us.

Allah ta'ala desires that we recognise Him and prepare good deeds whilst living in this world.

Sustenance and wealth is already written in our destiny. Thus, we should rely upon Allah ta'ala to fulfil our needs. Allah ta'ala is the provider and He will keep providing for us. Our main purpose in life is to recognise and remember Allah ta'ala. This life is a test for us. Thus, we must fulfil our needs without forgetting our purpose of life.

No action of our life should be considered insignificant. Allah ta'ala has no need for our worship yet, worship is such a thing which grants us much reward and benefit. We should worship with a present heart and with utmost focus, otherwise, our worship is a waste of time.

At the end of our day, we should supplicate to Allah requesting for an easy reckoning. We should seek His mercy for the day He reckons us. During the last Sujood of the day, we should supplicate to Allah ta'ala to accept our deeds and we should consider every deed as our final deed.

We all face hurdles and challenges in life on the path to recognising and worshipping Allah ta'ala. To overcome them is our test. Nafs and Shaytan may prevent us worshipping, however, we must remain steadfast upon worship and in return, we earn the pleasure of Allah ta'ala. Those who succumb to their desires and Shaytan, are a failure.

Those who pass the test and lived within the boundaries of Shariah, will be granted Paradise. Those who disobeyed, will be destined for Hellfire.

We should never abandon prayers for any reason, otherwise we will face great loss. Prayer is the greatest form of worship. Allah ta'ala is the provider so we should not worry about leaving our businesses to pray. All other pillars of Islam depend upon prayer. Prostration is the greatest act and it is found in the greatest worship, which is prayer. This demonstrates the value of prayer.

Shaytan makes us lose the morning prayer, so we end up failing to rise for Fajr. If we repent sincerely today, Allah ta'ala will accept all our prayers we have lost in the past.

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

"As for those who struggle in Our cause, We will surely guide them along Our Way. And Allah is certainly with the good-doers." [29:69]

This verse explains that Allah ta'ala will certainly hold us to account. He expects us to try our utmost best to adhere to His commands.

Allah ta'ala desires that we obey Him and fulfil prayer in congregation. He desires that we partake in the dhikr gathering and in return, attain His forgiveness.

We must make sacrifices and stand firm with effort. We must fight against our desires and Shaytan.

We must make a firm promise towards these things. Faith refers to certainty so we must believe in Allah ta'ala with certainty and believe in His words.

When we feel weak or lazy, Allah ta'ala commands us to perform two actions which will strengthen us.

Firstly, we must work very hard upon implementing the order of Allah ta'ala. We must reject the disobedience of Allah ta'ala at all costs.

Secondly, we must not rely solely upon our efforts and carry false hope. Rather, after working hard, we must turn to Allah ta'ala and seek help from Him. This is because, we cannot guarantee results and success simply from our own efforts. For example, we may set the alarm for Fajr prayer, however, we must seek His help in actually rising for the prayer.

If we do not make effort, yet we supplicate, we cannot be successful. We must make our own effort through the resources Allah ta'ala has granted us and alongside, supplicating to Allah ta'ala. This is how a person becomes successful and is shown the paths to guidance.

After repentance and physically working hard alongside dua, Allah ta'ala makes that person from amongst the good doers. His deen will be strengthened, he attains the closeness of Allah ta'ala and he is granted a high status.

When we face hardship in life alongside implementing His orders, Allah ta'ala elevates our status.

It is useless to pray whilst sinning alongside. We must pray and abstain from sins in parallel. This refers to exercising Taqwa and safeguarding ourselves. Such a person is successful and He will be granted all kinds of delicacies in Paradise.

All the things in the world are a test for us. Everything which distances us from the love of Allah ta'ala and prevents us from fulfilling His orders becomes a source of our failure.

A true successful person is he who rises for Fajr prayers despite struggling to rise. There is no bigger oppression that abandoning prayer.

When we begin to make effort upon the path of Allah ta'ala, Allah ta'ala's mercy arrives and He opens multiple paths of guidance for us. He bestows His love, forgiveness and nearness upon us. Allah ta'ala always appreciates the sacrifices we take in obeying His commands. Furthermore, in return for our efforts, Allah ta'ala fills our hearts with the light and understanding of the Quran. The level of Allah ta'ala's closeness all depends upon a person's hard work.

It is out of Allah ta'ala's wisdom that He has created temptations and hurdles. This is because reward from Allah ta'ala is earnt through combatting these hurdles.

A person who is able to perform Hajj but fails to do so, will die as a Christian or a Jew. We must repent and turn to Allah ta'ala in regret. We must not make excuses and we must promise to perform Hajj and fulfil our responsibility to Allah ta'ala.

We must live our lives according to the desires of Allah ta'ala and not according to our own desires. If we seek to fulfil our desires, we may receive temporary worldly benefit, however, we will not receive any success in the Hereafter for following our own desires.

After we make a mistake, we must repent immediately. Before we retire to sleep, we must seek forgiveness from Allah ta'ala and be hopeful in His mercy and protection.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
