Bayan Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ

Tonight is the night of Jumuah during this blessed month of Rabi ul Awwal. It is also the blessed night of the birth of the Prophet ﷺ. We are fortunate that Allah ta'ala has granted us a dhikr gathering on this blessed night.

The greatest moment in history, is the moment Nabi ﷺ arrived in to this world. This moment is filled with the most blessings and joy. It is a time when Allah ta'ala’s grace and blessings filled the entire universe.

It is the most valuable moment in the history of Mankind and his ﷺ birth itself has illuminated this entire month. When Nabi ﷺ was born, intense light spread around the world and the stars were scattered everywhere. Hadhrat Aminah narrates that at the time of his ﷺ birth, the palaces of Syria became visible. The commentators say that this vision was due to Islam being spread through Busra. Syria is a very blessed land. In fact, it is the most holiest land after the Haramain Shareefayn.

On the other hand, disbelief was present in the world. At the time of the birth, an earthquake came and the palaces of the disbelieving Kings shook. The fire of Persia which was burning for thousands of years suddenly extinguished. The idols were crushed and the truth overcame falsehood.

قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ

"Say, ˹O Prophet ﷺ,˺ “In Allah's grace and mercy let them rejoice. That is far better than whatever ˹wealth˺ they amass." [10:58]

Every believer should feel happiness tonight, because this is that moment in which we attained the deen and we attained Imaan. If it wasn't for the Prophet ﷺ, we would have received nothing. We should rejoice upon this blessing from Allah ta'ala, as this the greatest gift ever to be bestowed upon us.

Before his ﷺ arrival in the world, there was extreme oppression, immodesty, disbelief, fighting, alcohol, criminality and violation of other's rights, widespread amongst the people. Through his arrival Allah ta'ala displayed His mercy upon the world. Upon Nabi ﷺ's arrival, we attained everything.

وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ ۖ

"And patiently stick with those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His pleasure." [18:28]

Allah ta'ala commanded the Prophet ﷺ to visit the company of the companions. The noble companions had dishevelled hair and were facing poverty. They had not eaten anything for a while and were not fully clothed. They were in severe need and hunger, yet, they had left every worldly thing to remember Allah ta'ala.

Allah ta'ala instructed the Prophet ﷺ to sit with these companions who were remembering Allah ta'ala. He ﷺ arrived in their company and asked what they were doing. They were taken aback and were worried that they had done wrong. They responded that they had sat to remember Allah ta'ala out of gratitude for His favour of being granted Islam through His Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ praised the companions upon the action they were performing.

The noble Sahabah remembered Allah ta'ala due to their love for Him and did not complain about their personal situations. They did not beg, rather they were thankful of their situations. They recognised that they had the greatest treasure which is the name of Allah ta'ala.

Similarly, when we partake in a dhikr gathering today, we also receive great rewards.

It is a shame that Shaytan has placed a veil over those words that Allah ta'ala holds beloved to Him and those actions through which we can attain Allah ta'ala's closeness and connection and Paradise.

Instead, Shaytan has tempted us to chase wealth. We hold no importance towards dhikr gatherings. Rather, we hold importance over wealth. We migrate and make tremendous sacrifices for the sake of earning, however we cannot sit to remember Him for 30 minutes after Fajr. By abandoning the dhikr gatherings, we are only oppressing ourselves.

Those who imitate the deen of the noble companions, will certainly receive the same rewards which the companions were granted. We should have the willingness and determination and we should crush our desires.

When we sit in dhikr after Fajr prayer, we are given the reward of performing one Hajj and Umrah. This act is superior to worshipping Allah ta'ala all night long, as dhikr is an action which is dearly beloved to Allah ta'ala. It is a shame that we follow our nafs and perform various acts of worship whilst abandoning dhikr.

Allah ta'ala has prescribed for us short and easy actions to imitate. We must fight against the whispers and evil temptations of Shaytan constantly. We must follow the instructions of Allah ta'ala and submit to Him instead of submitting to Shaytan.

Whenever we experience a negative thought from Shaytan, we must assess it against the Quran and Shariah to see if we will gain benefit or loss from it.

Once we reject the temptations, Shaytan will become weakened and defeated. Furthermore, Allah ta'ala rewards us for opposing Shaytan solely for His sake. Allah ta'ala desires to see our battle with Shaytan. This is our challenge of life.

When Allah ta'ala grants us a gift such as allowing us to partake in the dhikr gathering, we should be extremely pleased and we should rejoice upon it. This is because no thing which we seek to amass in this world can compare to this great treasure of Allah ta'ala upon us.

Worldly wealth is not considered a treasure from Allah ta'ala. Similarly, leaving dhikr for the sake of our jobs and earning is not a form of goodness for us.

The money which we chase, will be distributed after we depart this world and eventually, our wealth betrays us. This world only gives us temporary satisfaction.

Allah ta'ala's blessings are permanent and we should be joyful upon the real treasures like the treasure of being gifted Islam and Allah ta'ala's remembrance. The people in the Hereafter will be envious of the rewards of the Dhaakireen.

Those who abandoned the dhikr gatherings are wasting their lives and have attained nothing to their name.

The WaliAllah transforms your life, he enables you to implement the Sunnah, he changes your appearance and shifts your focus of life and your ideology. The company of the waliAllah is the greatest bounty and mercy from Allah ta'ala upon us during this era of corruption and evil.

If we find a waliAllah who is imitating the Prophet ﷺ, then he is the greatest treasure upon the earth. We should be pleased with those blessings which take us towards the deen such as the waliAllah.

The greatest treasure of Allah ta'ala is found in that place where a person attains the deen of Allah ta'ala and the Hereafter. Allah ta'ala announces that the Prophet ﷺ is the greatest treasure on this universe and the companions were grateful to Allah ta'ala for the presence of the Prophet ﷺ.

This is the correct way to commemorate the birth of the Prophet ﷺ. There is no greater treasure than his arrival. After his arrival, the greatest bounty for a believer is to become a follower and true lover of the Prophet ﷺ.

Celebrating his birth does not refer to marches and speeches. Rather, we should celebrate his birth the way the noble companions did through the dhikr of Allah ta'ala. This was their way of demonstrating gratitude for the treasure of Islam brought by the Prophet ﷺ.

The Prophet ﷺ approved their celebration and joy and appreciated it.

Many people belittle and reject the Sunnah and for this they will be questioned. However, glad tidings have been mentioned in Ahadith and Quran for those who practice the Sunnah. We must have belief and trust in the verses of Quran and Ahadith.

How should we rejoice for being from his Ummah?

We should revive our Imaan tonight as the Prophet ﷺ. was sent to us an excellent role model.

Allah ta'ala sent us the Prophet ﷺ so that we may imitate him through our love for him. Allah ta'ala loves the Prophet ﷺ so He unveiled him and sent him to the world. Allah ta'ala even revealed his private affairs through his blessed wives so that we can maximise our imitation of his lifestyle.

Allah ta'ala sent us to the world solely so that we can imitate His beloved. Allah ta'ala is very pleased with the one who imitates His beloved and the one who goes against his teachings will be destined for Hellfire.

There is no benefit to the Prophet ﷺ in our imitation. Rather, it is us who will benefit Through this action, Allah ta'ala will forgive our sins as this is our sole purpose of life. Allah ta'ala will make us His beloved, as following the Sunnah is the greatest action performed upon this universe.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
