What Deeds Should be Done in the Asharah of Dhul-Hijjah?
Allah ta'ala has granted us three specific acts of worship during these blessed days - Hajj, Qurbani and Dhikr.
There are no other days and nights that can compare to the rewards given during these days. These ten days of Dhul Hijjah are very blessed to Allah ta'ala which is why we are rewarded even more for our good deeds.
Hadhrat Jabir رضي الله عنه narrates that if a person keeps one fast during these days, then Allah ta'ala grants him the reward of fasting for an entire year.
Similarly, those who perform worship during the nights of Dhul Hijjah, will be granted rewards equivalent to Laylatul Qadr. This shows how beloved these nights are in the eyes of Allah ta'ala.
Hadhrat Aishah Radiyallaha Anha narrates that if a person worships all night long, he will be granted the reward of one years worth of continuous Hajj and Umrah. This is the greatness of these days
Some pious predecessors have stipulated certain acts of worship for these blessed days. One of these actions is to perform four rakat of prayer. In every rakat, a person should recite Surah Falaq, Surah Naas, Surah Ikhlaas thrice & Ayataul Kursi thrice. After this prayer, he should recite durood shareef 100 times and then supplicate to Allah ta'ala. Allah ta'ala will accept all his requests.
Whomsoever fasts on the day of Arafah, will have his sins forgiven from the previous year and the following year. These rewards are restricted to these blessed days of Hajj only.
With regards to Qurbani, a person is forgiven for all of his sins upon the first drop of blood from his sacrificial animal. Furthermore, good deeds are recorded to him equivalent to every hair upon the animal. There is also a statement that a person will use his sacrificial animal as a means of conveyance to cross the bridge in the Hereafter.
Those who cannot perform Hajj physically should imitate the Hujjaaj by refraining from cutting their hair and nails. One who implements this, becomes beloved to Allah ta'ala just as the Hujjaaj are beloved to Him. They will be rewarded just as the Hujjaaj are rewarded for their actions.
If we follow the Sunnah of Allah ta'ala's beloved, Allah ta'ala Himself will begin to love us. This is the message of these blessed days.
Adopting the Sunnah includes persevering against mockery of society and difficulties. In reality, no Wali Allah became such without loving and imitating the Sunnah. It is a shame that we believe that we can take shortcuts in deen by bypassing the Sunnah.
No matter how many good deeds we perform, if we are not emulating the Sunnah alongside, we will not b rewarded for them.
If the menfolk intend to keep a beard and the womenfolk begin observing purdah during these ten days of Dhul Hijjah, they are given abundant reward and Allah ta'ala makes them His beloved.
Allah ta'ala grants us these days as a form of reward and gift for us so that we may rectify ourselves . If we take heed, then Allah ta'ala completes what is lacking from us and compensates for our laziness throughout the rest of the year.
Those who are immersed in the love of the world, consider these days as a burden. They are not able to distinguish between what is good and bad. They have no regard for the deeds which will grant them rewards in the Hereafter.
On the other hand, those who have fear of the Hereafter, repent for their laziness and immediately turn back to Allah and submit to Him. They adopt the Sunnah ways and the principles of deen and they make changes in their life.
Dhikr performed during these days is very powerful and valuable action. By reciting one dhikr kalimaat, the doors of Paradise are opened for a person.
We should flee to attend these dhikr gatherings otherwise, we will regret it later when we are desperately trying to acquire the genuine deen.
Those who took bay'ah and are lazy from dhikr, will be granted double punishment. Those who used dhikr for worldly benefits will not be saved in this world and the Hereafter. They will be wretched in both worlds.
Bay'ah refers to making a firm resolve to attend the dhikr gatherings regularly. We should not make excuses from attending.
We should repent during these days and observe these days in the best way possible.
May Allah ta'ala allow us to appreciate these days and improve our lives. Ameen
