We should be prepared for death as we can depart this world at anytime. Whoever prepares for his death, the sorrows, the love and the enjoyment of the world is removed from him and he only acts according to necessity. He runs his business according to necessity and alongside, he is aware that Allah ta'ala can call Him back at any time.
Nabi ﷺ addressed his companions on the last day of Sha`ban, saying, "Oh people! A great month has come over you; a blessed month; a month in which is a night better than a thousand months...[Ibn Khuzaymah]
This month is full of immense blessings. It covers every faucet of a person's life. 'Oh people,' refers to all mankind. This indicates that all people regardless of their religion, will receive the blessings and benefit of this month
Allah ta'ala has placed a special quality within this month, which is enabling the non believer's heart to become soft. This is because Allah ta'ala desires to save the non believers and invite them towards the truth too.
Ramadan is a great sign of Islam and it is not restricted to Muslims. The non believers respect this month and some of them also keep fasts during this month. It is our responsibility to invite them towards Islam and remind them that this is the true deen. Even if they do not embrace Islam, they will at least be impressed and accept it as the true deen within their heart.
We must improve ourselves first in order to reform and propagate the deen to others. Sadly, we are too immersed in earning wealth and accumulating assets and we fail to perform the work of the deen in the form of being a good role model. In reality, our character, our appearance and lifestyle can perform the work of da'wah.
We should demonstrate the deen by simply greeting others, sharing gifts and dates. We must plant the impression of a positive deen through our words and mannerism.
Repentance refers to promising to fulfil the five prayers of Islam and practicing the Sunnah. In such environments we face today, it is compulsory to practice the deen as we are promoting the deen alongside.
Repentance refers to being an outward example of Islam through our appearance, our beard and turban. We should not be ashamed in adorning the Sunnah wherever we go, even in a western environment. Our appearance should invite others towards Islam. Furthermore, we should clothe our children in Islamic clothing even in educational settings.
Our religion is complete and Nabi ﷺ taught us regarding every part of our life in detail. Despite this, we fail to teach our children, although there are great wisdoms behind practicing the Sunnah ways. A person who is a true lover of Islam, practices his ﷺ examples externally and so do his children.
We should adopt the Islamic dress code and we should not worry if we fall in to sin. Allah ta'ala is aware of the evil and temptations in the world, however, we must not oppose the obedience to the Prophet ﷺ. If we obey him ﷺ and end up sinning, Allah ta'ala will forgive us. If we fail to imitate him, Allah ta'ala will destroy us and cause our earnings to go to waste. There will no value to our deeds if we fail to imitate the Prophet ﷺ.
Nabi ﷺ stated that this month is made blessed through our repentance, reformation, living according to the Prophet's ﷺ's lifestyle and presenting ourselves to others in that manner.
Allah ta'ala has placed wisdom during the night time. The night of Qadr is special because nights in general, are valuable particularly for the lovers. They wait for the night to meet their beloveds. This is why Tahajjud is a time of enjoyment for the believers. This is also why Allah ta'ala invited Nabi ﷺ towards Tahajjud. We should also imitate his ﷺ practice.
This night is greater than a thousand months, thus, whatever good deed we perform, will be multiplied for us. Whoever repents tonight, will receive the rewards equivalent to more than a thousand months.
We must encourage our children to practice the deen through love and affection and after improving ourselves first. We must seek the Sheikh for his guidance and learn the deen from him just as the Quran mentions,
فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
"So ask the people of the message if you do not know." [16:43]
The Sheikh plants the names of Allah ta'ala within the heart. We should make the most of this night and learn dhikr, men and women equally. Sisters are also in need of dhikr so we should encourage them too. They are precious pearls. Whoever strives to get close to Allah ta'ala, will find Him for sure as He is closer to us than our jugular vein. The Sheikh seeks to remove the veils between us and Allah ta'ala. When he plants the name, the veils are removed through dhikr and Allah ta'ala's magnificence enters the heart of the student.
We should be honest and have Halal earnings. We should have good character and be sincere and then we will attain goodness. This is how we perform the work of the Prophet publicly and even through our professions. Every man has the capacity to spread the deen, even it means saving his wife from Hellfire.
Allah ta'ala grants health, wealth and children and He enables everything. Our success and provisions is due to Him. When we have this mind-set, we trust He will provide for us no matter what. Thus, we abandon work at the time of the call to prayer. In such a manner, we should implement the laws of Allah ta'ala as He is in control over everything.
We should make a promise to pray in the mosque and adhere to the Sunnah. We must improve our appearance according to the Sunnah and in return, Allah ta'ala will accept our efforts and enter us in to Paradise.
Physical implementation is what is compulsory. Those scholars who have studied but fail to practice the Sunnah will entire Hellfire. On the other hand, the illiterate who imitate the Sunnah will enter a high level Paradise.
Whoever repents today and follows the Sunnah, he will become a scholar who is practicing. We must strengthen this repentance by visiting the company of a Sheikh. This will strengthen our faith and make us a Muttaqi.
We must fulfil the promises of repentance. The condition of a woman's repentance, is that she should have modesty and observe purdah through adorning the Niqab. Those who repent and make this intention, Allah ta'ala will accept their forgiveness whether they are old or young.
He will remove the traces of their sins from the earth and no witnesses to his sins will remain. He will convert their sins in to good deeds, He will remove their darkness and bring them towards the light.
Furthermore, Hadhrat Jibraeel عليه السلام will make an announcement and announce their Wilaayat amongst the creation. Thereafter, Nabi ﷺ will pray for their forgiveness. This is the real essence of Islam. This is how to make a connection with the Prophet ﷺ.
Without moving the tongue, we should practice focusing upon the name of Allah ta'ala through Muraqabah. We should perform this morning and evening and throughout the day. The condition is that we must pray five times and follow the Sunnah.
We should be prepared for death as we can depart this world at anytime. He runs his business according to necessity and alongside, he is aware that Allah ta'ala can call Him back at any time.
