Some generations are good and some are bad through the good and bad connotations they have. As an example, all months are good but, Ramadan is a special and unique month because the Quran was revealed in this month and it consists of Laylatul Qadr. Thus, this month is elevated. It is not the achievement of the month itself, rather, Allah ta'ala has connected this month to great things. Without the connection of these blessed nights, the impact of this month is lost.
Similarly, generations came and went, however, when Allah ta'ala desired to illuminate an era which was full of darkness and destruction, he created a Prophet to be sent to the Earth. After the Prophets arrival, blessings would be placed in that era and the people would transform. However great the personality was, the greater the generation became.
Thereafter, Nabi ﷺ was sent to the Earth. Many centuries passed before that but no other generation witnessed such an arrival. No one as great came before him and will come after him.
"The best people are those of my generation, and then those who will come after them (the next generation), and then those who will come after them.." [Bukhari Shareef]
We are from the best generation however, we are moving away from it. The light was strong during the Prophet ﷺ's time through which the noble companions were raised. It was the era of goodness. No one can compare to the level of the companions. However, as the time passes further away from the Prophet ﷺ, the light will dim.
Why are our hearts black today and why have we lost our good character?
This era is further away from Nabi ﷺ. The curse and wretchedness of the era affects our heart. As the generation goes further away, more vice and more evil is present, so we must work harder to protect our heart today. We must perform dhikr in abundance.
We are in need of working upon our hearts.
Allah ta'ala wanted the Sunnah and Shariah to continue until Qiyamah so we are fortunate to be from this Ummah. Only if we grab hold of the Shariah, we will be safe from sins. Shaytan is aware of our weak points and he attempts to attack us in different ways. We should not be confident in ourselves. We should never have guarantee over our Imaan until we pass away with the kalimah upon our tongues. We should never rely upon our worship. Rather, we should always run towards Allah ta'ala and focus upon Him until we die.
When a person sins and he is sincere and works hard, then Allah ta'ala helps him. Allah ta'ala loves it when we destroy the desires of our heart for His sake.
No Prophets will come to earth after Nabi ﷺ. When the generation becomes corrupted, Allah ta'ala sends the Awliyah Allah to the earth. They imitate the Prophet ﷺ completely and they transform the era and improve that century. As long as the WaliAllah is alive, light and blessings will spread around the world due to his connection.
When he departs this world, the era will face darkness again just like when Ramadan ends, the blessing of Ramadan end and you will witness a sudden change in the environment. You wont experience that impact of Ramadan once it has ended.
Thus, as long as you have a connection with a waliAllah, that era is the greatest era! When he departs, the people will run around and they will only find darkness. He who wastes the moments with the waliAllah, he will regret it until Qiyamah. He will cry when realising what he wasted and will never be able to compensate these moments just like a person who wastes time in Ramadan.
We should value these precious moments! When Allah ta'ala light descends from the heavens, it is the connection with someone pious. The sign of this, is that the people in his time will be changing and improving. This is due to the waliAllah transforming the era.
Thus, assign yourself to a teacher. If you have a connection with a waliAllah and you're getting benefit from him, then do not waste your time. Do not waste his company otherwise, you will regret it. Attach yourself to him and never leave his company and you will attain Paradise.
We should perform the work of deen whilst adhering to the principles. Shariah is our method of guidance and it teaches us how to interact with men and women. He who does not adhere to the Shariah, will soon be impacted negatively due to his actions.
We must observe segregation from women. A Kaamil Sheikh will not go against Shariah. He is performing the work of the Prophets. He is successful because he is steadfast upon Shariah no matter how many ups and downs he faces. He propagates the laws of deen just like Allah ta'ala sent it.
It doesn't matter how great the wali Allah is, he should not sit in front of a woman and converse with her and give her bay'ah face to face otherwise, fitna will be created and Shaytan will inject desires.
We should adhere to the barriers which Shariah has defined. No strange sister is considered a sister or an aunty to you. There is purdah required between you.
The Naqshbandi order is such a great order. A student may attain the highest level just through attaining the first lesson.
Hadhrat Mujjadad Alf Thani رحمة الله عليه stated that the initiation of Naqshbandi order is where the other orders end. The student from the others orders cannot attain what the students of Naqshbandiya order attain even if they may try all life long. This is Allah ta'ala's choice. Allah ta'ala elevates whichever order He wills.
Allah ta'ala says that the greatest era was the time of the Prophet ﷺ due to the Prophet ﷺ being the beloved servant of Allah ta'ala. This era is beloved today due to the actions that are connected to the Prophet ﷺ. This order of Tasawwuf is great because it traces back to Hadhrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه. Therefore, this order will be the highest in the Hereafter!
This is the importance of taking bay'ah in this order. Allah ta'ala selects a servant to join an order. When Allah ta'ala loves a slave and desires to elevate his status, he sends him to a certain teacher as well as his company. Thus, we should never be ungrateful. We should be grateful to Allah ta'ala for allowing us to enter this order through His mercy.
We should value and appreciate this order from our hearts. We should attend these gatherings with sincerity and purity of the heart and passion.
We should be grateful. However, most of us don't have that desire and passion because we are very distant from the era of the Prophet ﷺ. We don't have the desire to perform dhikr as we have come far from the Prophet ﷺ's generation.
We are selected people by Allah ta'ala as we have a connection going back to Allah ta'ala. The more a student values this connection, the more he is elevated by Allah ta'ala.
