How to Fulfil the Right of Servitude?

Every moment is valuable if you fulfil the objective of that time. If you live for the Hereafter even for a moment, it is greater than 100 years of life without purpose. If you live a life without a purpose, then it's a waste of time.
Our objective of life is our Hereafter. The decision of our Hereafter will be based upon the way we spent our life.

Allah ta'ala has created the entire universe and is control of the alternation of the night and day alongside the cycles of the universe. A person may attain his objective via these signs. During these periods of day and night, one prepares for his Hereafter by fulfilling Allah ta'ala's demands. He fulfils what is required from him during the day and during the night. Such a person who lives like this is a truly intellectual person. Those who only concern themselves with worldly things such as their businesses, are not considered intellectual people.

We are not free to live as we please. We are the slaves of Alah ta'ala. Allah ta'ala has granted us a daily schedule which we must fulfil just like a worker who is always alert and fulfils his duties knowing that he must be obedient to his boss. Similarly, the believer is always focused on the Hereafter and he demonstrates true servanthood during his life.

We should constantly strive to fulfil the demands set by Allah ta'ala. If we fulfil this requirement, we become the beloved servant and friend of Allah ta'ala and become worthy of intercession.

First of all, we should understand that Allah ta'ala created us and our life is solely for Him. Allah ta'ala desires our level of servanthood to be strong.

Unfortunately, many of us are servants of our desires. We worship our desires and consider them our Lord. As a result, Allah ta'ala seals such people's hearts and He punishes them such that they become unaware and destined for Hellfire. This is because they spend their time according to their own desires and they ascribe partners to Allah ta'ala. When a person opposes Allah ta'ala by obeying his desires, he becomes an idolater.

During the morning, Allah ta'ala requires us to stand in His worship. During the night, Allah ta'ala requires rest from us which is also a right of our body. However, we tend to utilise this time by engaging in futile activities and entertainment.

We should live our lives pondering over what is required from us by Allah ta'ala. In such a way, our life would become simple and purposeful and our life would become easy. The more we place our own desires to a side and obey Allah ta'ala, the more successful we will become.

We are slaves of Allah ta'ala and we should be prepared to obey Him. We should live our lives according to Allah ta'ala's guidance and demands. When we work to fulfil His demands, He immediately grants us reward, ease and comfort.

We are required to pray five times a day. Wherever we are during prayer times, we must fulfil this worship. We should never delay our prayers, otherwise it is considered as disregarding Allah ta'ala's demands.

When a servant abandons Allah ta'ala's instructions and obeys his own desires, He is punished and Allah ta'ala becomes unhappy with him.

When Allah ta'ala is unhappy with a person, He makes him more prosperous and wealthy. He grants him ease, comfort and luxuries of the world. His business starts to flourish and he begins to enjoy life in the world. This is because Allah ta'ala does not wish for him to advance towards repentance and has closed the doors of guidance for him. He will be given the permanent punishment of the Hereafter. This is the worst form of punishment given to a person in this world.

Allah ta'ala is most pleased with a person who is immersed in poverty and difficulties. Nothing goes according to his desires, yet he worships Allah ta'ala. He strengthens his relationship with Allah ta'ala despite the challenges he faces. He increases his patience and his earnest supplications to Allah ta'ala. The more challenges he faces, the more he worships. As a result, Allah ta'ala addresses the angels to prepare Paradise for him so that he can witness the rewards for his actions.

Allah ta'ala tests the wealthy and the poor person, however, a person attains Allah ta'ala's pleasure by spending his life according to the desire of Allah ta'ala and according to His set schedule. When a person lives like this, Allah ta'ala rewards him even before he has fulfilled the action.

For example, we pray Fajr in the morning and thereafter, Allah ta'ala desires that we do not leave the masjid without remembering Him in dhikr. Allah ta'ala desires that we remain in the masjid and fulfil His requirement.

A person who obeys his desires, leaves the masjid without remaining for dhikr. He attempts to fulfil his sleep even though his sleep cannot be fulfilled.

On the other hand, the true believer fights his desires and fulfils the desire of Allah ta'ala, despite knowing that it is not a compulsory act. Because of his fulfilment of Allah ta'ala's requirement, Allah ta'ala places blessings in his sleep and he wakes up refreshed even if he sleeps for a short duration of time. Everything is in Allah ta'ala's control.

We are not compelled to engage in voluntary actions, however, a person receives more reward when he performs deeds based on love for Allah ta'ala and not due to compulsion. The journey of love goes a long way.

When a person remembers Allah ta'ala. Allah ta'ala remembers Him. If a person remembers Him whilst he is alert, it requires less effort from him. When a person sits in dhikr after Fajr and he is sleepy whilst doing so, Allah ta'ala grants him more reward because he is fighting his desires whilst remembering Allah ta'ala. This is considered a true act of servanthood.

Allah ta'ala desires that we remain remembering Him until sunset so that the sun bears witness to our dhikr. The sun is a sign of Allah ta'ala's power and this is a spiritual message which Allah ta'ala delivers through the cycle of nature.

Allah ta'ala has commanded us to perform two rakat Ishraq as a sign of humility and gratitude to Him for allowing us to remember Him, without possessing the ability to engage in dhikr ourselves.

A person expresses His gratitude to Allah ta'ala through his prayer. Thus, whenever we are happy about something, we should perform two rakat voluntary prayer as a token of gratitude to Allah ta'ala. Allah ta'ala appreciates this act of gratefulness (two rakat Ishraq) and He grants us the reward of one Hajj and one Umrah although we did not physically perform the action. This is the reward given due to Allah ta'ala's love for us.

If we fulfil those actions which Allah ta'ala expects from us during the day and night, He will shower His mercy upon us and grant us many rewards. This is the way to become a wali Allah.

If we are free during the day, we should develop our hearts to remember Allah ta'ala as we should always be occupied in His servanthood.

Nabi ﷺ engaged in dhikr at all times. Thus, we should remember Him all the time and not waste any time. True servanthood is strengthening our connection with Allah ta'ala by every second.

Allah ta'ala has not prevented us from our businesses. However, nothing in the world should cause us to detach from dhikr. We may be occupied in the world, however, we should remember Allah ta'ala alongside. After prayers, we should not waste time gossiping and scrolling on our phone. This is not considered servanthood.

Allah ta'ala desires us to remember Him even whilst we are asleep. Such dhaakir, depart from this world with success. They will rejoice upon their death and will be granted whatever they desire in Paradise as a reward. This is because they lived their entire life according to the desire of Allah ta'ala.

We should never consider ourselves free. When there is physically nothing to do, we should engage in dhikr. We should visit the Wali Allah and request him to teach us dhikr so that our heart can become alive. Once the heart is alive with dhikr, nothing can stop the heart.

If a person's heart is not alive, he's not able to engage in dhikr in all states and circumstances as his heart is dead. Without dhikr, he leads his life like a deceased person. He is soulless.

One cannot perform dhikr without learning it, which is why learning dhikr of the heart from a Wali Allah is very essential.

When a person enters Paradise, he will regret the moments he spent in his life without engaging in dhikr. This will be his biggest regret in the Hereafter.

We should engage in dhikr earnestly and develop our lives. In this way, we will keep attaining for our Hereafter.
