What is the Reality of Dunya?

Nabi ﷺ said "The world is a field for cultivating the Hereafter."

We must understand the objective of the world we are living in. This world is the place of deception and the biggest deception is that a human being considers that he will always remain in this world. He doesn't state it verbally, nor does he express it physically, yet, his style of living in this world, indicates that this world is his permanent abode.

We make plans in this world as if we will remain forever here. However, this isn't the reality of this world. The reality is that when Allah ta'ala wills, He will call us back to Him without a fixed appointment.

If we were convinced that this world isn't our permanent abode, we wouldn't build a solid house here. This is the lifestyle which the noble companions lead. Many of them had the riches of the world, yet the company of Nabi ﷺ taught them that this world is not a permanent place of living. Due to this, the love of the world was removed from their hearts. This is also what a person acquires in the company of a Sheikh today, as the Great Shuyookh spread the same Deen which Nabi ﷺ spread. If we cannot attain this Deen from our Sheikh's company, then we have failed.

During the time of Nabi ﷺ, an expedition once arrived and the people were carrying goods alongside some silk material. When the noble companions saw the goods, they became happy. Nabi ﷺ witnessed this and immediately asked, "Do you like this?" They replied in the affirmative. Nabi ﷺ then stated, the people of Paradise will receive a much better cloth than this! The companions left the cloth and began to cry.

The heart of a person is very much attached to the world. We see our relatives passing away, yet, we don't have certainty that we will leave this world too. If we had true certainty, then our lives would be transformed.

This world is barren. It is not our duty to construct houses, shops and runs businesses here. Rather, this world is valuable. It is a cultivating land where we must sow our seeds and reap the fruits of our harvest in the Hereafter. This world is not a place to waste. We should use our time to fulfil our objective in this world.

Our occupation, wealth and businesses will remain behind us whilst we are transferred to the Hereafter. Let it not be that we leave our land barren without sowing our seeds. The people of wisdom begin ploughing upon this very fertile land. It is Shaytan and Nafs which takes a person away from this task and diverts him.

When Nabi ﷺ travelled during the night of Mi'raaj, he said: "I met Ibrahīm on the Night of Ascension and he said to me: 'O Muhammad, convey my greetings to your nation, and tell them that Paradise has pure soil and sweet water. It is a vast plain land and its seedlings are: glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is Greatest." [Tirmidhi]

We must cultivate in this world so that we can become very wealthy in the Hereafter and earn great palaces. The more we plough here, the better our Paradise will be for us. If we don't construct now in this world, then we will receive nothing in the Hereafter.

There will be some in Paradise who will regret why they didn't do more in this world. They will regret the time and opportunities wasted in this world in which they failed to earn even more rewards for the Hereafter.

Not a second should pass in this world whereby we are not cultivating for the Hereafter and building our abode in Paradise.

Our prayer enables us to build a mansion in Paradise and Dhikr also enables cultivation in this world for the Hereafter.
We should strive to attend the Masaajid in which the Dhikr Gatherings take place. For every footstep you take towards the Masjid, you will have a good deed recorded for you, a sin removed and your status increased. A person earns a considerable amount and does not incur loss by attending the Dhikr Gatherings, as these actions were granted to us so that we may earn for the Hereafter through them.

When a person attends the Masjid, he should make the intention for Sunnah i'itikaaf. For as long as he remains in the Masjid and whilst waiting for the other prayers, he will earn rewards.

سبحان الله والحمدلله ولا إله إلا الله والله اكبر
This Kalimah is a seed which will cause trees to be planted for a person in Paradise. This is why we should remember Allah ta'ala without limit. Through constant Dhikr a person is constantly building his abode in Paradise.

We should learn the Dhikr of the heart from a Sheikh, because a person will tire from doing Dhikr of the tongue and then his rewards will also cease. When we abandon the act of Dhikr, then the construction of our Palaces in Paradise also cease.

We should spend our money and travel in search of a Sheikh in order to earn Paradise. Once a Sheikh teaches you the Dhikr of the heart, then your heart will continue to be occupied in Allah ta'ala's remembrance.

There are 8 doors of Paradise and one door is for those who remember Allah ta'ala. They are the special people who will enter Paradise with ease.
There is no greater blessing upon this Earth than the Dhikr Gatherings. This is why we should be grateful to Allah ta'ala for this opportunity to remember Him.

Shaytan and Nafs will aim to divert us from remembering Allah ta'ala, but we should keep focused on Dhikr no matter what. There is no loss in learning Dhikr from a Sheikh so we should take benefit from these beautiful avenues.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement.
