Who is at Loss?

There is a Hadith in Abu Dawud Shareef in which Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates that Nabi ﷺ mentioned, "If a person sits or lays down without remembering Allah ta'ala, then he is in great loss.

Hadhrat Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanwi Rahmatullahi alayh mentions that this Hadith proves that a person should engage in Dhikr during every given place and opportunity. One should never be negligent from the Dhikr of Allah ta'ala during any moment of his life.

When a person is devoid from the Dhikr of Allah ta'ala, he is deprived from the Mercy, blessings and treasures of Allah ta'ala. Thus, the biggest loss for a person is his weak connection with Allah ta'ala.

A person may be engaging in good deeds, but he will still be deprived from Allah ta'ala's Mercy if he abandons His remembrance. Therefore, we learn that a person loses out by avoiding Dhikr.

The reason a person is distant from Allah ta'ala is due to him being distant from His Dhikr. One's connection with Dhikr should be constant and natural, just like the way he inhales and exhales without counting each breath. The Dhikr of Allah ta'ala should become like second nature whereby a person is constantly immersed in Dhikr, knowingly and unknowingly, consciously and subconsciously. This is what Allah ta'ala desires from His servants although He Himself, receives no benefit from it. The benefit is for us. We are always dependent upon His Mercy and blessings.

It is for this reason the Great Mashãikh strengthen a person's relationship with Dhikr, so that his connection with Allah ta'ala becomes strong. When a person has a strong connection with Allah ta'ala, he become Allah ta'ala's friend and he doesn't have greed and love for the world. Thereafter, the animals and the rest of Allah ta'ala's Creation begin to recognise him and obey him. A person doesn't adopt the path of Dhikr with the purpose of gaining this benefit. Rather, these effects take place naturally. A human being becomes so valuable when he is recognised! This is our original status. Allah ta'ala desires this status for every human being, not just for some selected individuals.

When a person's heart feels inclined towards the Dhikr Gatherings, then know that Allah ta'ala loves such a person and his relationship with Allah ta'ala is being strengthened. This is a massive achievement! One who is devoid of engaging in Dhikr, incurs a big loss in this world and the Hereafter.

The connection with Allah ta'ala will remain for as long as you to continue to do Dhikr, otherwise there is no connection. The more a person engages in Dhikr, the higher the rank he will attain in the Hereafter.

The heart is a machine which must be trained and the way to do this, is to assign one's heart to a teacher. This is how a person will be in the constant state of Dhikr. We should seek a Sheikh by requesting Allah ta'ala to deliver us to him. "Oh Allah guide me towards one of Your friends so that I may learn Dhikr." The Great Sheikh will make your heart alive. In this way, you may be occupied with worldly actions, but your heart will always be occupied in Allah ta'ala's remembrance.

Hadhrat Dr Abdul Hayy Aarifi Rahmatullahi alayh said to me, "Why don't you ask from Allah ta'ala whenever you have a need? If your shoelaces break, then ask Allah ta'ala as he has prepared for its replacement." Allah ta'ala listens and gives. He removes distress and calamity, so why do we not ask Him?

Whenever we have an issue, we should first request from Allah ta'ala and then seek the resources in the world. These resources will then take us towards Allah ta'ala. This is also the method of Istikhara.

If you have any need or requirement, or if you're confused about something, then raise your hands to Allah ta'ala and recite اهدنا الصراط المستقيم three times or seven times and then present your need to Allah ta'ala and say, "Oh Allah, if this is good for me, then allow me to fulfil it and if it is not good for me, then eliminate it from me." If it is best for you, then it will begin to take place automatically. It's not necessary to you will see dreams and visions. Turn to Allah ta'ala and seek His guidance.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
