Farewell Ramadhan

We assess how much we earned after a day of hard work and labour. If we do not receive a great turnover, we assess the causes, and what could be changed for next time, in order to gain greater profits.

Similarly, Ramadan is a month of earning. The target for Ramadan was to become a Muttaqi. As we come to an end, we should assess ourselves and our actions. Those who prepared themselves for Ramadan, entered with concern for the Hereafter and the grave. If Ramadan was spent correctly, then, Allah ta'ala grants them the biggest reward, which is Taqwa.

Taqwa is to develop awareness of Allah ta'ala and to leave sin. To fear Him, and be close to Him. We fast correctly, with the awareness that Allah ta'ala watches us. Similarly, if we can develop this awareness that Allah ta'ala watches us when we sin, it will enable us to be safe from sin and become a Muttaqi.
Nobody can compare to the rank of a Muttaqi. The rewards for the Muttaqi are countless and they are the only ones who will be close to Allah ta'ala.

Shaytan is the greatest restriction from attaining Taqwa and success. He is our enemy, and he prevents us from good and takes us towards evil. If one enters his house without reciting the Dua, then Shaytan enters with him and disagreements and dispute arise in the house, as a result. He joins in with your discussions, he sleeps with you, eats with you, and is present with you when you have relations with your wife. This is how Shaytan works. The more a person is distanced from the Sunnah, the more he is attacked by Shaytan. He destroys homes and inserts negative whispers. The cure for this is to follow the Sunnah.

The more you practice the Sunnah, the greater power you have to be detached from Shaytan and become closer to Allah ta'ala. By following the Sunnah, you'll feel the enjoyment in your prayer and by engaging in dhikr, you will be safeguarded from his evil, as dhikr is the greatest weapon against him.

We should recite some Quran daily, with attentiveness, even if it is three lines, with the intention to improve and implement. We often recite in abundance, in order to earn reward, instead of trying to fulfil the objective of the Quran.

There is reward in worship, but the purpose is to become a Muttaqi through our worship. And these 30 days alongside I'itikaaf are to train us and help us to develop this quality. In reality, when we fulfil the objective of the worship, then we receive all its rewards.

The objective of Tasawwuf and visiting a Sheikh, is for the sole purpose of instilling the fear of Allah ta'ala within us.

Whoever repents today, has acquired Ramadan and whoever failed to repent, has lost out from Ramadan. Allah ta'ala does not call out to His creation every night, inviting them to worship. Rather, He invites them to repent.

True repentance is to have sincere regret and remorse over your sins. Without this, a person cannot seek forgiveness. We should not be arrogant and stubborn. True regret and shame within a person, is displayed through a person's tears. The more shame he feels, the more he weeps. If you present these tears to Allah ta'ala in Ramadan, He will open up all eight doors of Paradise for you and wipe away all your previous sins.

1) Repent sincerely with remorse, 2) Reject and stop the sin immediately, 3) Make a promise not to repeat the sin.

This is how to attain Allah ta'ala's love and assistance and even when you become tempted to sin, Allah ta'ala will save you.

Shaytan will make you hopeful over your deeds and present them as beautiful. He will make your sins appear insignificant. However, in reality, your sins prevent you from having blessings in your actions.

Paradise is destined for the Scholar who understands the objective of his knowledge.
In reality, the objective of seeking knowledge, is not to teach, nor provide lectures and speeches or open Madaaris. The greatest objective of knowledge, is that you use that knowledge for your own rectification and become close to Allah ta'ala, otherwise you are wasting your knowledge.

Whoever doesn't use his knowledge to benefit himself, then how can he give benefit to others and deliver goodness to them?

My Hadhrat Sahib would say, that "our knowledge is not positively impacting us because our intentions for seeking knowledge are not correct."
Allah ta'ala encourages us to seek refuge from seeking knowledge, which will not benefit us.

There are a few signs to determine if a person possess Taqwa.

1) He considers himself to be the worst and the lowest from others. He only focuses on himself and does not consider himself superior. He does not find himself befitting for titles, nor does he expect honour and regard from the people.

2) When he recites the Quran, he takes learning and admonishment from it. He pauses and ponders over the verses. He cries and reflects. He considers himself deserving of punishment and takes heed from the lessons of the previous nations. Such an individual, has learnt to recite the Quran properly.

3) He emulates the ways of the Sunnah all lifelong.

4) Every time lust and desires tempt him, his heart trembles and he asks Allah ta'ala to save him.

5) He is still a human, so, he makes mistakes, yet, he immediately repents to Allah for his misdeeds and he doesn't delay. His good deeds replace his sins.

The worship of the Muttaqeen are accepted because they have attained the true purpose of Ramadan.

We should analyse ourselves during the final moments of Ramadan, repent to Allah ta'ala and ask Him to instil these qualities within us. The person who loses out in Ramadan is a total failure and his heart is sealed, so by seeking these qualities, we will attain Ramadan.

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ أَقْفَالَ قُلُوبِنَا بِذِكْرِكَ

"O Allah! Open the locks of our hearts through Your Dhikr."

Nabi ﷺ would make this supplication regularly after prayer. He taught us to open our hearts via the action of dhikr, because the locks are not opened via any other worship. In such a manner, a person develops the love for the Sunnah and reflects over the Quran.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement.
