Blessings Depend on the Greatness in your Heart

Dhikr is a great deed. A group of people may engage in dhikr, but their ranks may differ, as it is dependant upon a person's emotions.
Certain individuals practice a deed but do not gain the benefit of that action because they don't hold the importance of that action. They work hard in implementing it, but without understanding its glory and appreciating it. Only by recognising its esteem, and doing dhikr with love, Allah ta'ala will allow His Mercy to rain down upon an individual.

We should engage in dhikr by considering it a treasure and aim to become closer to Allah through it. When a person values the action, he begins to benefit more from it. Therefore, the more respect you have for the dhikr gathering, the more Allah ta'ala gives to you. If you have negative thoughts regarding the deed, you won't gain the benefit.

Before you engage in any deed, understand its greatness first. Certain individuals would visit my Sheikh three times a day, yet, they would meet him with wudu, praying nafl, giving in charity and dhikr and by presenting a gift. They would supplicate to Allah ta'ala, "Oh Allah, I'm going to Hadhrat's gathering, save me from disrespect and from doing anything wrong and allow me to control my thinking and my movements." This is how they would attend the dhikr gathering. In such a manner, a person's emotions are transformed.

Allah ta'ala looks at the heart of a person. If you intend to partake in this gathering and attain His nearness, then you should have complete respect and love for it. If this attitude isn't natural, then one should adopt this mentality. Thereafter Allah ta'ala will makes his attitude genuine.

Wudu is a basic preparation for Quran and prayer, but if you want to attain complete benefit from it, then you must approach these worships with respect.

Whichever means you adopt to attain Allah ta'ala's nearness, you must humble yourself, show respect and focus on the condition of your heart. Aim to eliminate the hypocrisy.

The Sheikh is the source of guidance. When you sit in the company of the Sheikh, you will never leave without any benefit.

Allah ta'ala has given us many resources and means to attain His nearness. It doesn't matter how hard you work, if you don't have the greatness in your heart for that action, you won't receive its benefit. When a person engages in a dhikr gathering with glory and greatness inside his heart, he benefits from it and is saved from the severity of the Hereafter.

Forgiveness is raining down upon us in Ramadan, but we are not aware of it. On the plains of resurrection, a person will be awaiting forgiveness. Whoever is forgiven, will stand with happiness.

Everything can be compensated, but one cannot compensate missing the company of his Sheikh. This is because Allah ta'ala's special mercies and magnificence are showered down during these blessings. The greatest student is he who never misses a gathering of his Sheikh because every day there is a new emotion and blessing present in that gathering.

Every Thursday, after Duhr, I would sit on the pavement and witness people arriving in advance for the evening Dhikr Gathering. Some on donkeys, some on cycles. Some tying their bikes. Some coming from villages. They'd travel hundreds of miles because they truly appreciated the gatherings. These individuals would return with so much benefit from the gatherings. A person who partakes with such effort and caution, will never leave empty handed.

In the company of a wali Allah, you attain peace of the heart which you cannot acquire anywhere else. The condition of the heart is transformed according to your manners and effort. When you display good manners and hold esteem for an act of worship, then your heart will obtain its greatness. If you make your heart prepared to obtain it and you hold certainty and faith, then you'll benefit.

A person shouldn't be negligent regarding dhikr and delay his forgiveness. When the dhikr gathering ends, Allah ta'ala orders his angels to announce that such and such individual has been forgiven due to this gathering and his sins have been replaced with good deeds. He's also given the reward of ease for his Hereafter. Such a person will not face hurdles and challenges in the Hereafter.

Allah ta'ala considers a person's heart and his level of gratitude. When Allah ta'ala grants you the opportunity to do a good deed, then we should say to Allah ta'ala, "I was not even capable of performing that deed," so we should pray 2 nafl to be grateful for it.

On the day of Qiyamah, forgiveness is what will be most sought, over all materialistic rewards. Yet today, we hold no importance to attain forgiveness via the dhikr gatherings.

Our sins are countless. Sins aren't always demonstrated physically through actions. One may sin via his thoughts because Shaytan flows in the blood of a person. Hence, we should be cautious and take hold of these opportunities to be forgiven.
These gatherings are the preparations for our death. Even if you have to sit for an hour in the gathering and you are exhausted, Allah ta'ala loves that action.

We should approach these gatherings with caution and greatness and assess how much light we have gained by this month. We should attend regularly even if you have travel distances.

It is mentioned in hadith that, if you reduce the burden of your servant or worker during this month, then Allah ta'ala will forgive you and save you from Hellfire. It teaches us that, if we are merciful and treat His creation with kindness, we will be forgiven.

We don't have servants in this country, but we have dependants, so we should ensure that we are merciful towards them and reduce their burdens and in return, we will earn forgiveness.

It is out of good manners that you don't stare or glare at your Sheikh because it can be considered disrespectful. Perhaps by staring, Shaytan will make you think negatively or you will notice defects or something you don't like. Due to this, your life efforts would have gone to a waste. These are the principles of love and respect, not the principles of shariah because love has its own level. This is how the delicate the path to Allah ta'ala is.

Whoever has manners, will have a good destiny. Whoever has bad manners, will have a bad destiny.

If a person wastes this month, he has wasted his entire life. So, we should make the most of this month. Have respect for this month and prepare a schedule for this month. Value the blessings of this month. The gathering of Ramadan won't come back. We must pull ourselves together and work hard in this month. If you make the intention, then Allah ta'ala will send help.

One should not rise from these gatherings without being forgiven. Until our soul does not hear the announcement of forgiveness, we should not leave the gathering. Be determined and courageous and ignore whispers of Shaytan.
Even if you don't see the benefit, stay in the gathering because you will most definitely attain great benefit.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement.
