What is the Preparation for Ramadhan?

This unique month has significant blessings and treasures attached to it. If we waste Ramadan, then we have wasted our entire year. The most deprived person will be the one who is deprived of this month due to failing to fulfil its objective.

Allah ta'ala has prescribed a method of preparation for every worship. Example, performing wudu before praying. Benefit lies in implementing exactly what Allah ta'ala has prescribed in its correct time, in order to fulfil its true objective. If one does not prepare according to the correct method, it means he has prepared according to his own nafs.

One succeeds from the correct initiation and preparation, so what is the preparation for this month? We prepare for food and snacks but this is not the correct preparation for Ramadan.

The greater your preparation for Ramadan, the better your worship and a higher level of Taqwa you will receive. The more enjoyment and satisfaction you will find in your worship.

The worship of fasting isn't attached to food and drink. Rather, it is attached to one's soul, so its preparation (of attaining internal purity), is also attached to one's soul.

Allah commands us to arrive in Ramadan pure, so the preparation for Ramadan is Repentance. Whoever repents sincerely before Ramadan has truly prepared himself for Ramadan. The one who enters Ramadan without repenting is like the one who prayed without wudu. Just like our prayer isn't accepted without wudu, our fast won't be accepted without our souls being purified.

Ramadan is such a month in which one is always in the state of worship. Even when you have broken your fast, you're still given the status of a fasting person and considered an important person in the heavens.
Starvation doesn't make you a true fasting person. Rather, the ultimate purpose of fasting is to attain Taqwa. We should focus on attaining this purpose and avoid excessive worship whilst neglecting the main objective of Ramadan. We should also avoid quarrelling with regards to differences which are not related to the true purpose of this month.

Ramadan begins and ends with Repentance. Successful is the one who departs Ramadan with Taubah and is a Muttaqi.

During Ramadan, excessive worship may prove difficult due to one's personal responsibilities and commitments. However, Taqwa is something which everyone can acquire at any time. Taqwa is attained via pleasing the hearts of Allah's creation and fulfilling their rights. This is the main worship of Ramadan.

Fulfil the responsibilities which are due upon you. Forgive your enemies. Remove malice and anger from your hearts. There must be no one in this world who is hurt by you.

If after Ramadan, you have no enemies, no arguments in your homes, your spouse and children are pleased with you, your mother sends prayers to you, your uncle begins to love you, your aunty embraces you, your neighbour makes dua for you, then consider that you have become a Muttaqi.

The most beloved action to Allah is when a person has full capacity to take revenge, but he forgives for the sake of Allah. When one adopts this habit, then divorces and arguments become diminished from society and the environment improves for the better.

We have considered the entire deen to be related to the Mosque, whereas, only one percent of the deen is attached there. 99 percent of deen is attached to social affairs and dealings with other people. For example, it is better for you to leave I'itikaaf and take care of someone needy instead.
وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي رَحِيمٌ وَدُودٌ

"Seek the forgiveness of your Lord and turn to Him in repentance. Surely my Lord is Ever Merciful, Most Loving." [11:90]

Allah ta'ala has used the word 'Rabb' to remind us of His favours upon us. He gives us sustenance and takes care of us, despite our sins. This is because He is Merciful and loving towards us. When we repent, He converts all our sins in to good deeds even if they're equivalent to the foam of the sea.

Parents are the greatest gift. Obey their commands with happiness. They expect kindness and mercy from their children. There is punishment for the child who gives pain to his parents hearts. If you want your children to treat you well and serve you, then assess your own treatment with your parents. How can a disobedient child expect obedience from his own children?

Allah ta'ala has given us the opportunities to repent and this is due to His mercy. We have been given the capacity to save ourselves from Hellfire. Dhikr has a direct effect upon one's heart, so the one who does dhikr properly, will never advance towards sin. Once you give your soul the nourishment of dhikr, it will revive your strength and allow you to soar in the sky.

We constantly sin and abandon prayer and expect Allah to forgive us, saying "He is Ghafur-ur-Rahim." Is there a guarantee that He will forgive us whilst we constantly sin in this way?

The sign of accepted repentance is that it brings about change in one's heart and a changed lifestyle. The conditions of Repentance are; having remorse over the sin, abandoning the sin and making a firm resolution not to repeat that sin.

Shaytan is weak and his ploys are weak even though they seem great. Do not worry because once you repent, you are guaranteed the help of Allah and He will ease your difficulties for you. He will grant you courage not to repeat the sin.

Islam doesn't promote hate or encourage enmity and differences. Rather, it teaches love and brotherhood. Take hold of one rope and strengthen the rope of Allah. Today, we have deviated so people have divided us. If we were united, then no-one would dare to divide us.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement.
