All lifelong a person strives to attain the good news which is his objective. Due to this good news, he attains Allah's blessings, His pleasure and Paradise. Therefore, our success is based on attaining this glad tiding. Attaining this will be the biggest defeat and loss for Nafs and shaytan as its their mission to prevent a person from achieving this good news. Thus, we have been commanded in the Quran repeatedly to focus on attaining it because if we don't receive the glad tiding in this world, we will be destined for Hellfire.
What is this Good News?
This special glad tiding is Allah ta'ala announcing forgiveness for a person.
Everything is based upon forgiveness. Whoever Allah ta'ala announces forgiveness for, he is successful. He will be free from punishments in the grave. He won't have any scorpions or snakes. He will experience no fear or distress. Rather, he becomes the guest of Allah ta'ala. He will experience good visions and receive sustenance. In his grave, he will be sleeping like a bride sleeps. He will experience the breeze of Paradise and his grave will become expanded for him.
The greatest worship is to pray. We pray and fast with the anticipation that Allah ta'ala will forgive us through our worship. Whoever doesn't have this desire, hasn't understood the objective of that worship. We often pray in a rush and with distractions, which is why we don't feel the enjoyment and pleasure of prayer. It's not necessary that you will attain forgiveness through merely praying. This is because we are not able to fulfil the due rights of Salaah. So when we complete our prayer, we should recite istighfaar 3 times according to the Sunnah. This is to fulfil what is lacking from our prayer and so we can attain forgiveness.
Before you engage in any worship, make an intention to seek Allah's forgiveness through it. This is because we do not require anything else in this life besides forgiveness. Allah ta'ala has already written down sustenance for us. Even if you travel to the corners of the world, you will only receive what Allah ta'ala has ordained for you. As long as you are alive, your share of sustenance will arrive to you.
Nowadays we don't have certainty in this fact. I studied all my life and didn't have the knowledge of running a shop. I attained a small shop and made the intention to remain there regardless of other great offers and promotions which came my way. I only left that place when I retired. I attained this certainty through Tawbah at the hands of my Sheikh. He taught me not to worry over sustenance but to keep remembering Allah and I would receive my sustenance. He advised me to never consume the unlawful.
One may run after mansions and desire to become a millionaire, but remember that you will only receive what is in your destiny.
The real concern which you should harbour, is attaining forgiveness because this is the one thing you will succeed from. We should strive to engage in those acts of worship through which we will attain forgiveness, otherwise its a waste of time.
We complain that nafs and shaytan are too strong and attack us from every direction, but Allah ta'ala has granted us ease upon every footstep. Allah ta'ala is so Merciful and has opened the doors of forgiveness through many avenues and has promised to forgive us despite our constant sinning. This means that the avenues of forgiveness are much more than the evil forces.
One great source of attaining forgiveness is via sitting in the gatherings of dhikr. Even before a person rises from such a gathering, Allah ta'ala announces his forgiveness, regardless of whether he is old or young and understands the dhikr kalimaat or not. Allah ta'ala also replaces his sins with good deeds. This is due to the blessings of the dhikr gathering.
Allah ta'ala only seats that person in this gathering whom He wishes to forgive. Whoever Allah loves, he prepares the route of forgiveness for him. Allah ta'ala provides food and drink to all His creation but they are not forgiven through this. So whoever Allah ta'ala allows to sit in dhikr, know that Allah ta'ala is pleased with him and has forgiven him. Those who are attend are from the special selection of Allah!
Hadhrat Umar رضي الله عنه is reported to have mentioned, "What is that Ramadan in which there is no dhikr." Fasting in Ramadan is for attaining forgiveness so we should strive to keep that fast through which we may earn forgiveness. How great of a loser that man is, who finds Ramadan but doesn't attain forgiveness through it.
When someone gives you a blessing, then appreciate and value that blessing. So when Allah ta'ala has granted you the great gift of dhikr, then perform it. When a teacher teaches you the dhikr of the heart, then you should utilise it and engage in Muraqabah.
When 2 people sit together in dhikr, it becomes a dhikr gathering for them, even if they are sat at home. So make a habit to sit with your children and your wife occasionally and engage in dhikr together. This action will bring beautiful effects to your home and fill it with Mercy.
We fail to have certainty that we will be forgiven through this action. Allah ta'ala does not have a set system and conditions that only if a person performs such and such, he will be forgiven. Rather, there is no sin difficult for Allah ta'ala to forgive. Even if we come to him with sins filled between the heavens and the earth, or we have worshipped idols for 70 years, He will still forgive us.
It is through Allah' ta'ala's Grace that He has established the dhikr gathering for us daily morning and evening. Allah ta'ala has prepared our forgiveness in such a way that He forgives the sins we commit between these 2 gatherings so we should flee to these gatherings.
We should invite and encourage others towards this great gathering because the one who partakes in it, will be forgiven, even if he is listening online sitting in countries far away. Those who are performing Tawãf do not have the guarantee that Allah ta'ala will forgive them via their worship, but the one who sits in dhikr gatherings are guaranteed forgiven.
Shaytan runs with technology, he uses new poisonous arrows and videos to corrupt us. Therefore, Allah ta'ala has enabled people to partake in this gathering worldwide via the system of technology.
When you bring your children to these gatherings, you as a parent, also attain forgiveness. Allah ta'ala has provided us with the luggage of attaining forgiveness and He assesses how much effort we make to attain it.
May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement and take maximum benefit from these precious gatherings.
