Barakah of Sadaqah

This world contains calamities, difficulties, sicknesses and dependence and for as long as one lives in this world, he must face all these circumstances. Alongside, we must ensure that our Imaan isn't at loss and affected by this, as our Hereafter depends on it.

الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاة

"Those who believe in the unseen and establish prayer.." [2:3]

Allah ta'ala has mentioned the cure for this which is having certitude. A person should first have certainty to the level where He believes in Allah and His orders without seeing and without doubt. This should promote implementation. The heart carries certainty and the body demonstrates it.

Allah ta'ala doesn't order us to pray. He orders us to 'establish' prayer and there is a difference between the both. Prayer is established through certainty and physical demonstration by the body, testifies a persons certitude. All our limbs should submit to Allah's obedience.

وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

..."and spend out of what we have provided for them." [2:3]

A Muttaqi possesses the 3 qualities mentioned above.

We live in a materialistic world so we are always in connection with wealth. Every aspect of ours, whether spiritually or physically, revolves around wealth. Wealth is either the most dangerous or most beneficial asset for our Hereafter because both, destruction and elevation is caused through wealth. Wealth often causes us to forget our humble roots and it become the biggest danger which destroys our obedience and certitude and delivers one to Hellfire.
In reality, wealth comes from Allah and had one attained wealth by his own efforts and means, then there would not be both the wealthy and impoverished amongst us. Shaytan deceives us in thinking that the result of our earnings, lie in our intellect and strength. In reality, everyone knows how to earn by working. Everyone knows how to run a shop. One does not earn and achieve through his own efforts, rather it is by Allah's will.

Wealth is given to us by Allah as a loan so it must be returned to Him. Wealth is a great source if you use it the right way. If I give you something, it becomes a trust for you. If I ask you to spend it in a certain way and you do not utilise it in that way, then it becomes a breach of trust. So Allah ta'ala grants us wealth as a trust which is why we should spend it in accordance to His desire and pleasure.

Allah ta'ala assigned wealth to us and made us responsible over it so we must keep giving to the less fortunate. Allah ta'ala provided a source of earning for us, so we shouldn't hoard and become greedy for more. If we avoid working to earn extra money, then we would not have the responsibility to spend it. But we have greed within us to earn more and more. Generally, we seek the jobs which will grant us the greatest salary and highest turnovers. Why don't we select that occupation which fulfils our needs instead?

The Noble Sahabah would not consider a right over their surplus wealth and would give it away to the needy. This is the method of spending and if applied today, poverty would be removed from our society.

One whose pocket has a hole in it, will always be wealthy due to his constant giving towards needy causes without accumulating.

In Shariah, your wealth will be inherited by your relatives which is their right, regardless if they are your enemies or you do not like them. If you withhold, you'll be punished.
Sustenance runs with a persons age which Allah ta'ala distributes across a persons life. When your sustenance ends, then the time of your death will come and no doctor will be able to save you. However, you will see the miracles of your spending through worldly problems becoming averted. If you desire longevity, removing Jinns or sickness, then spend your wealth. Cure your sick ones through charity because sadaqah becomes the barrier between death as it increases one's lifespan. We have so much love for our wealth that even when we're nearing death we don't spend our wealth.

Sicknesses are not restricted to physical health problems, rather, they include the diseases of the heart which are the greatest sickness. Physical sicknesses like cancer, may take you to the grave, causing physical death, but spiritual sickness embedded in the heart such as, anger, lying, abandoning prayer, and consuming the rights of others, will deliver you to Hellfire.

Therefore, distribute your wealth and your anger will be replaced with mercy. You will begin to pray. You will no longer steal or fornicate, nor abandon the Sunnah and be weak in practicing the deen, as the cure to every disease lies in giving charity. It will remove every sin, problem and deficiencies which you face in life.

Allah ta'ala has placed power in wealth. When one spends towards good causes, greed and love for the world is removed from his heart. He become more conscious about where he spends his money and he abandons his habit of hoarding.

The reward for spending is that Allah ta'ala rewards you 10 times multiplied. Whatever you spend for Allah's sake, He will double for you in the Hereafter.

If you don't spend in the path of Allah, then your wealth will evaporate and become a trial for you. It will make you wretched and cursed. You will have no blessings in your life. Your homes will be full of disputes, divorce and disobedient children.

We often travel for the sake of holidays but we should also fill our pockets and visit our countries with the intention of giving to the needy according to our capacity and status. We should prioritise our relatives as they have rights, but we must not forget the others too.

We should present our wealth to them with good manners and consider it Allah's order to give to them. We should beg them to accept our humble donations as we are not doing a favour upon them. Rather, the poor have favoured you for accepting your wealth, otherwise it would've been seized from you. In return, such a spender attains abundant contentment in his life because he earns and works overtime to spend on such needy people.

Extract funds everyday because death can come anytime. The best sadaqah is to fill the hungry stomach. You will receive satisfaction and prayers in return and Allah ta'ala becomes very pleased with your generosity towards His creation.

Allah ta'ala has placed the cure for every calamity in giving charity. At the face of calamity, we tend to abandon everything. We should not be upset or run away from Allah's nearness if we are suddenly placed in destitution. This is a test for us and when Allah ta'ala tests, He only tests for a short while. We should say, "Oh Allah, I'm grateful for You and I await your Rahmah." Turn to Allah and take the tasbih.

The required amount for Zakat is limited, but voluntary charity is limitless because voluntary actions are fulfilled on the basis of love. Where there is love, there are no principles. Similarly, prayer is a duty which is incumbent upon us, but one doesn't attain Allah through the compulsory deeds. Rather, Allah's nearness is attained through optional deeds. Nowadays, we become complacent doing the Fard, so if we have true love for Allah ta'ala, we shouldn’t restrict ourselves with the Faraaid.
Allah ta'ala hasn't prevented us from optional worship, which is why dhikr is performed in abundance. When we remember Allah, He remembers us and when there is a meeting between two beloveds, then why would Allah place a limit there? How can the path which introduces you to Your Beloved, be restricted?

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement.
