Tawbah in Rajab

There is خير (Good) and شر (Evil). At times, evil can bring a person closer to Allah quicker than good. It delivers one to Paradise and distances him from Hellfire and makes him the beloved of Allah. This is when the evil becomes a means of your cure and rectification, otherwise it leads you to punishment and Hell.

Allah ta'ala has not created anything without purpose. Everything is beneficial for a human being in one way or another.

Mankind is made from clay and has the capacity to err, whereas angels are created from light and are infallible. When Allah ta'ala created Hadhrat Adam عليه السلام, He ordered the angels to prostrate to him, although one usually prostrates to someone who is superior to him.

The angels were surprised at this command but they didn't disobey or reject. They questioned Allah ta'ala regarding the order and Allah responded, "you don't know what I know." These incidents didn't occur in history by coincidence. Rather, they serve to teach us. Here, we learn that we shouldn't complain or criticise about anything which Allah ta'ala inflicts or bestows upon us, whether good or bad.

Our mind does not comprehend the wisdom behind Allah ta'ala decisions. Once we accept them, we will remain happy in both worlds, otherwise we will become stuck in the world without peace and satisfaction.

Before Allah ta'ala sent Hadhrat Adam عليه السلام to earth, He prepared him. Something needed to happen for him to be able to live in this world. Therefore, the incident of the tree took place in paradise so that we can learn from it today.

Just as Shaytan influenced them to eat from the forbidden tree, he influences us today saying, "If you leave usury, you will never be successful in the world. If you remove this attire, nobody will like you. If you keep a beard, you won't find a partner. Everyone will mock you. Don't keep the fast, you will become weak." These are all from the whisperers of Shaytan.

Hadhrat Adam عليه السلام and his wife were then sent to earth and were given the cure as to how to fight the whispers of shaytan and repent through the following supplication:

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

"Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and do not have mercy on us, we shall surely be among the losers." [7:23]

The first condition of repentance is to accept the sin. One should feel remorse over disobeying Allah. Then he should turn to Allah, repent and seek His protection.

The laws and principles of Allah are not man- made. Allah ta'ala knows the benefits and the wisdoms behind His commands. When we oppose them, we are challenging Allah ta'ala directly and we end up imitating Bani Israael who disobeyed Allah and were turned into animals.

Evil is created by the nafs and shaytan. Besides the Prophets عليهم السلام, no one can be safe from sin, including the pious. When a person sins, Allah ta'ala takes away his ranks, his light and his blessings. He becomes exposed in the world. These are the consequences of disobeying Allah.

A person who worships his nafs, will never enter paradise. Only when you crush your desires, will you enter paradise. The nafs is crushed through adhering to the ways of the Sunnah.

The Awliyah Allah are not created by birth. Every Wali Allah has to pass through a process. Even those with high statuses have fallen through the whispers of shaytan. In order to be protected from these whispers, we must adhere to the orders of Allah without following our own desires.

"O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens.." [66:8]

Tawbah is a great action. When you commit sin, no matter how big it is, do not despair. Immediately repent. Have hope in Allah ta'ala that He will forgive you and he will erase all your sins and enter you into Paradise. All your actions are useless until and unless you repent.

Today is a beautiful opportunity to repent and there is no man today who is not in need of Repentance. Nabi ﷺ himself, would recite Istighfãr 100 times upon every sitting. He had no need to recite this at all but he personally demonstrated and taught us the importance of Istighfãr.

Seek the means of the Awliyah Allah as intercession for your forgiveness. Perhaps, due to their prayers, Allah ta'ala will have mercy upon you. When you repent sincerely, the direction of the wind completely changes and one's life becomes easy. Tawbah is such a power, that it takes a single second to transform your life. Sincere repentance elevates a person to the highest level and makes him a Wali Allah. Allah ta'ala is so Merciful that He also changes the people's opinions regarding the one who repents, very quickly. Even if your sins fill the space between the heavens and the earth, Allah ta'ala will draw Himself closer to you through your repentance. The world will begin to respect and honour you.

Sincere repentances creates power in your supplications. The sign of sincere repentance is that the person who repents, begins to follow the Shariah of Allah ta'ala and practices the Sunnah of Nabi ﷺ. He becomes a miracle for people thereafter.

فَبَايِعْهُنَّ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُنَّ اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
.."Then accept their pledge, and ask Allah to forgive them. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful." [66:12]

When a person seeks repentance at the hand of a Sheikh and makes a firm intention to implement the promises, then Nabi ﷺ himself prays for that person's forgiveness in Madinah Shareef and Allah ta'ala also forgives this slave and grants him His nearness.

Whatever your Sheikh has advised you to abstain from, give your life away, and sacrifice whatever comes in the way, but never break the promises you made to your Sheikh. Commit to the promises and this is called 'true repentance.'

The morning dhikr gathering is approximately 45 minutes long and in return, one receives forgiveness from Allah, the reward of one Hajj and Umrah, the love and pleasure of Allah, and all the supplications of a person are accepted. We must strive to attend the dhikr gatherings in order to show our gratitude to Allah ta'ala.

May Allah ta'ala grant us the ability to implement.
