Short advice

Nabi ﷺ would often give advice to the noble companions and would present examples for them. In such a way, he would give advice not just to the Sahabah, but to the whole ummah.

Once Nabi ﷺ was present with the Sahabah and he said,

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or else keep silent." [Bukhari & Muslim]

خَيْرًا -
refers to good speech, good word or a good discussion.
Some people have a habit of disrespecting and dishonouring people. They say as they please in the state of anger. This is because they believe that no-one is watching them and they are free to do as such.

So we should learn from this Hadith and speak good words. The reason for this is, when a believer speaks, then the angels say "Ameen" upon his speech and it becomes accepted. This is a big thing because if the angels say "Ameen" then that situation is out of your control.

Example - if you speak to someone harshly or speak with anger, and then cool down afterwards, you'll feel regret and pain if that curse or calamity was actually inflicted upon them. You wouldn't be able to bear it. Hence, we should be cautious regarding every matter of our lives as we do not have free will to do as we please in this world. We are always closely watched and monitored by Allah and the angels.

Every movement and action of ours is valuable. Even upon anger, we should try and say good things like, "Oh Allah, rectify this persons thinking, he has done something incorrect." Or, "Oh Allah grant him wisdom." You can say many good statements.

Tomorrow we will regret swearing and cursing at others so speak good even when you're angry.

There is a hadith mentioned in Bukhari Shareef where a funeral procession was taking place amongst the Sahabah. In regards to the deceased man, they remarked, "this man was a very good person."
The Prophet ﷺ said, "then Paradise is compulsory upon him." They asked, "how?" He ﷺ replied, "when you said he was a good man, the angels replied saying 'Ameen' and Allah ta'ala made paradise compulsory upon him and you became witnesses of this goodness."

One should remain cautious upon two occasions.

1) When a person is sick and you go to visit then. You should comfort and reassure them with supplications and avoid rubbing salt to their wounds and causing them to feel despondent over their situation. When a person faces a negative or desperate situation, and the angels say ‘Ameen’ to the negative words you utter, then even if such a person is to become healthy, he will not fully recover from his sickness.

Hence, be careful when visiting a sick person and even such a person whom the doctors claim that he will not live beyond a few days. Avoid negative talk, "You look weak!" Rather, encourage him and reassure him that he looks well and everything will be okay. When you do this and the angels say 'Ameen' to your good words, it will make a difference to his health and he will improve through your words. For a sick person, you can become a means of their shifa.

This is also considered worship. We can develop a society by doing these great actions.

2)When one is close to death.
When a tragic incident occurs, never say negative statements like, "So and so person has died but he used to do bad things."

When you're cautious with your words, you receive many rewards due to your caution.

May Allah ta'ala grant us the ability to implement.
