Which is the Straight Path to Jannah?

To have belief in Paradise is compulsory and it is part of our faith.

We engage in worship but we remain unaware of the route to paradise. For this we are first in need of conviction in Paradise that we will receive it. Those who hold true conviction in Paradise, strive for it and avoid wasting time. The purpose of a believer's life is to attain paradise and only if he treads the correct path, he will attain it.

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه said, "I have not seen the likes of the Fire in which the one who runs from it sleeps, nor the likes of Paradise in which the one who seeks it sleeps." [Tirmidhi - 2601]

Meaning, how can one know of Paradise and still not strive to attain it and how can one know of Hellfire but still not strive to avoid it. Only those who have the enthusiasm and passion for paradise will strive for it.

Majority of our supplications are made for worldly gains but we should make a habit to pray for Paradise and for the eternal things.

It was narrated that Anas (رضي الله عنه) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times, Paradise will say, ‘O Allah, admit him to Paradise." [Tirmidhi]

So we should Ask Allah to increase our yearning for paradise.

Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه reported that, "Nabi ﷺ drew a line in the sand with his hand and he said, “This is the straight path of Allah.” Then he ﷺ drew lines to the right and left, and he said, “These are other paths, and there is no path among them but that a devil is upon it calling to its way.” [Musnad Ahmad]

اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Allah ta'ala used the word صراط. One path.
There is only one pathway which will take us directly to jannah. That is the pathway of emulating Nabi ﷺ's Sunnah. The other pathways are the pathways of Shaytan.

One can engage in many deeds but if he is opposing the Sunnah and not implementing it, then all his deeds are rendered futile.

Our deeds are presented to Nabi ﷺ and he becomes pleased that his Ummah is emulating his Sunnah despite the corrupted environment which they are living in. When he is pleased with such a person, then consider the glad tidings for that person.

And similarly, Nabi ﷺ becomes distressed upon those who have abandoned his ways. When we sin we should seek the Waseela of Nabi ﷺ as a medium and repent to Allah.

When studying and teaching knowledge, one's intention should be to learn and educate in order to implement and attain Paradise through it, otherwise one’s knowledge won't benefit him.

Make your children Huffadh so that they will act upon the Quran and intercede for you in the afterlife. If you have any other intention, you will receive nothing but punishment and curses. Every intention and action which is not connected to the Hereafter is futile no matter how much the world praises you for It.

It is a great blessing to be invited for Hajj and Umrah. It is a responsibility because Allah ta'ala gives you an opportunity to change your ways before your death. If you disregard this opportunity, then this error and deception will cause a person to become disgraced in the Hereafter.

Nowadays we use the Deen to earn self respect whether it is through our Umrah or through engaging in good deeds and worship, but Allah ta’ala is the one who gives a person respect.

When one implements the Sunnah through every single action, whether it's drinking or eating or conversing, then Allah makes him His beloved.

لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
"Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example." [22:31]

One who adopts the Sunnah in every aspect of life, will be admitted to Paradise when he departs this world and Allah ta’ala will be pleased with Him. Never be deceived that your worship will grant you success. The more you act upon the Sunnah, the more you will flourish in the Deen.

Particularly when going to the masjid, one should never dress opposing to the Sunnah and attend the masjid.

Never fear death. But remain prepared for it. This is a quality of a true believer.

The one who listens but doesn't reflect and act, nor change his ways, he becomes deserving of Allah ta’ala sealing his heart.

Emulate the ways of the Sunnah, attend the gatherings of those who adopt the Sunnah. Search for those people. Go to a Sheikh who follows the Sunnah. Don't search for big titles.

My beloved Sheikh once mentioned, "the dhikr of Allah is what will help one to adopt the Sunnah. Everything has a quality within it. Water quenches the thirst. Milk provides one energy. Fruit gives you certain vitamins and minerals. Similarly, dhikr is to remember Allah's name and Allah has kept two qualities within his name. Sincerity and love.

Through dhikr, these qualities will become a means of guidance for you. You'll be given the love for Allah. Love for Deen. Love for Nabi ﷺ
Dhikr will grant you the love for everything.
And likewise the quality of sincerity cannot be attained from anywhere besides through dhikr and sincerity is essential in order to have your deeds accepted and protected from hypocrisy. That's why Allah says,

وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ
"And Allah's remembrance is of even greater merit." [29:45]

May Allah ta’ala help us to implement what has been mentioned.
