Effort then Blessing

Allah subhaanahu wa ta'ala has arranged everything according to our needs in this world. He is the Khaaliq, the Creator Maalik, the Owner and He is aware of our needs more than us.
How much we need, what we need and where.
Its is man who becomes quickly distressed but Allah is aware of all needs and bestows upon him everything that he needs and what is important for him. This world is necessary for us because it is a place where we strive to attain our Lord and the Hereafter is more important than this world. And through that effort that we make here, Allah will forever more grant us an abode to reside in which we call Paradise.
Allah has arranged for everything in this world. Allah has created such human beings in this world who constantly research and analyse and are always looking to gain knowledge, make improvements and progress further and further and this is necessary. You've probably seen both generations where people would line up to use the telephone outside the telephone booth and how did you know that a few years later you would have the telephone in your hands or in your pocket and you will use it. So this is the research of a human being.
Those things were present in the universe but due to mans research he attains it. It’s not like this certain technology wasn't available before, the resources were present in the universe, but after research and analysing, then man understood.

There are many secrets of Allah in this world. Man continues to strive and seek and he will attain them. Today the telephones are in our hands, you never know, maybe Allah will grant us an invention beyond that. So research continues and the work of the dunya continues.

So this is the world. And more important than that world is the Hereafter. Allah has also created scientists and researchers for the hereafter who are the noble Mashaikh, known as the Wali Allah or the "sufi," whatever name you want to give them. According to your understanding, people have given them different names, 'sufi', but they fulfil the same work just like how technology is researched in the world, the Wali Allah research for the hereafter. Tell me. That how can a man meet attain His lord, and how can he meet him very quickly. And just like this the research progresses and advances alhamdulillah and through new research they enable Man to attain Allah. This is the world of Tasawwuf which we call Tazkiyah. We dont name it that, Allah has. We have kept it a different name, Suffiyah, Khankah, silsilah. Whatever names people give, different names that are attributed to this science and people say, "these Sufi's are this, they’re not right etc." But look at the work of Tazkiyah that they are doing.
If it’s a hundred percent according to Shariah, then it is Tazkiyah. If there is innovations and wrong actions, then it could be incorrect, whatever thing it may be. But no one can deny or reject the system of Tazkiyah can they? How can they? When Allah's Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself said that I have come to explain the method of Tazkiyah. How to be purified. You couldn't remain in this world without Quran, nor without the wisdom of the Quran which is Fiqh, Jurisprudence, which we call Shariah and neither could you remain in this world without Tazkiyah. These three things are important for us.
Alot of research has been carried out regarding the topic of Tasawwuf.
Some points are appearing inside my head which I will share because you are students of Tazkiyah and I will try to explain according to that. This a very complicated issue. There are two levels regarding Tazkiyah when a person is rectifying himself. One is Wahdatul Wujood and the other is Wahdatush-shuhood. These are two levels for the believer. Wahdatul Wujood, that was there, all the pious predecessors the Sufi, the personalities, the Mashaikh who have passed in the history, all were on this practice and level of Wahdatul Wujood and their Maqaam would get to this point. But Allah ta'ala created His Wali. Sent him to the world and he came right to the end after all of the pious predecessors, one thousand years after the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, that's why he was given the title Mujaddid Alif Thani Rahmatullahi Alayh, the reviver of the deen, alif Thani - after a thousand years. So Allah ta'ala selected him. Sent him to the world. He illuminated the world with his presence, such mashaaAllah knowledge came into his heart that when he saw himself mashaaAllah that he was on that Maqaam, he didnt deny Wahdatul Wujood but when he researched and looked into the knowledge and when it was made apparent to him and Allah ta'ala gave him the guidance he said, "no no this is nothing. This is just one stage, there is another maqaam,Wahdatush-shuhood. Mujjaddid Alf Thani Rahmatullahi Alayh defined that. And on that there was a lot of clamour and confusion because all of the pious predecessors, people like Ibn Arabi Rahmatullahi Alayh, they said how can this be that all of the Mashaikh, how can there be Wahdatush-shuhood, this is denying Wahdatul Wujood that there's another maqaam after it? So Wahdatul Wujood was such a level that SubhaanAllah I’m just summarising this to you because technically there's a lot of points to this. So in one maqaam in Wahdatul wujood a person would stop and his emotions, even now it is there, but beyond that, a person he can go beyond that. Hadhrat Mujaddid Alif Thani Rahmatullahi Alayh, he enabled the person who is learning, to go beyond that level. So in that what the human being does is, he is immersed in the Remembrance of Allah, the knowledge of Allah and he forgets everything. And he starts to say, just like some Sufi, they say Ayn al Haq. Like Hadhrat Mansur Halaaj Rahmatullahi Alayh and Bayazeed Bastami Rahmatullahi Alayh, he also said, "I am the truth." So how can this be, that there is an example here given that just like we have the sun, it is the sun and all of the rest of the universe is detached and separate to it but the sun is separate to the rest of the universe but when a person looks at the glare and the glory of the sun, the light of the sun is so intense that he can't see anything else besides the light of the sun. Because it overwhelms everything else. If you look at the sun and you pay attention to it, there will be so much brightness and you won't see the rest of the light around you because the intensity is too much. In reality there are other forms of light. The dunya is in existence and everything is present. So Allah ta'ala is also present. The sun is present, it is separate and everything else around it in the universe is present. In the same way when a person reaches a Maqaam, he becomes strong and he gets closer to Allah ta'ala, then he considers nothing else apart from being close to Allah ta'ala because SubhaanAllah he starts to understand everything from within his own and he is detached from the world at that time. You could say this is a dangerous maqaam where people can come off track and fatwas were written that these people have gone too far in their research etc. There are people on this level and they are in danger at the time but Allah subhaanahu wa ta'ala's grace, He showed such a clear and pure path, the Sunnah path, and that's why his call, Mujaddid Alif Thani Rahmatullahi Alayh was that he revived the Shariah and the Sunnah and he emphasised on them. He explained that when he went beyond that maqaam and it was such a maqaam, Wahdatush-shuhood that the person says, "no no Allah is this and that is the dunya." He sees everything crystal clear and separate and such a person is conscious. It is very simple for him to adhere to the Shariah and the Sunnah and it is infront of him and he cannot come off the track. Everything for him has to be the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and everything depends on the practice of the Sunnah Shareefah. So this was his research. Mujaddid Alif Thani Rahmatullahi Alayh. I'm just giving one example of his research and the work he did of the deen. So in the Naqshbandi order, such levels arise, lataaif, when you remember and you do alqabaat, and you have higher levels and you get closer to Allah. Through Allah's Fadl a person improves and improves and he goes up on the level with ease. But his feelings and emotions don’t change. He is conscious and he understands his level. He won't tear his clothes. He won't say things that are wrong. He won't make noise and he will keep himself sincere and he will go on higher levels. But very calmly, smoothly and consciously. He's in the world, working in the world, but his heart is attached to the world. His hands are immersed in the work of the dunya. He's fulfilling the rights of the dunya. At the same time, every moment he is close to Allah. Allah is with him and he is with Allah. This is the level. And such levels Allah has instilled into the human beings. This was his research. Hadhrat Mujaddid Alif Thani Rahmatullahi Alayh that such things Allah ta'ala had developed qualties within that when the believers of Allah, Wali of Allah do research then the treasures that are within the human being, they begin to develop that person. How did we know about lataaif? Lateefah Qalb, Lateefah Ruh, Lateefah, Sar, Lateefah Khafi. The different spiritual levels. Thousands and millions of people don't know this but when a person travels on the journey of Tazkiyah and he is serious as a student and he goes on the right path and his sheikh guides him, then mashaAllah the light of the deen and the reality it comes in front of him.
So research shows the inside of a person, in his inner state. These are the levels he needs to attain. And all the paths open up for the believer. So the final result is to attain the nearness to Allah ta'ala. His attachment and a believer when he improves and develops he gets closer and closer. And when he follows the principles, he attains the Maqaamaat. Just like there are many levels and when the student follows the guidelines of his teacher and he spiritually promotes then Allah's nearness increases. So the lessons of this Tareeqa are like steps. You go on the first step, then on the second and third and you continue going up and up and you have to get to the top through the stairs. Similarly, the human, first lesson, second lesson, third lesson, forth lesson and he carries on and he reaches on to the nearness to Allah.
So my brothers, the highest level of Allah's nearness which is given, remember this point.
It is called, what is it called? Allah ta'ala has given it the name Taqwa. SubhaanAllah. Allah has said that this month is superior to all other months. It is greatest because through this month of Ramadan, that work is performed through which a person reaches the highest level of Muttaqi as compared to all the other levels there are out there. The highest level and the closest to Allah on Qiyamah will be? The Muttaqi. The most successful person will be who? The Muttaqi. Who will have the highest rank? The Muttaqi because the word Muttaqi means he is the most closest to Allah. SubhaanAllah. He is most closest. Hadhrat Jaabir Radiyallahu Anhu narrates in a Mishkat Hadith that a man came to Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and asked, he asked a unique question, "a person, he does a lot of voluntary acts of worship, he does nafil, he prays Tahajjud, he fasts, he gives voluntary charity and does voluntary good deeds in abundance. And in contrast there is another person who is doing Tazkiyah, purification." Yes there are different names, Tazkiyah, he is cautious or he's very careful. When a person is on the journey of Tazkiyah then all of these things come to him, the fear of Allah, he is careful and he abstains from the wrong, all of this is Tazkiyah. So "who is better?" He asked Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Allah's Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that obviously the person who is doing extra voluntary prayer, that's fine but the one doing Tazkiyah, he can't compare to this man. These are the words of the hadith that how can he match such a person who is doing this. So imagine that this is such a great level. Whoever treads the path to Allah in order to clean himself inside, in order to recognise and understand himself. And until one doesn't clean himself, he can't recognise himself. He can't become clean. So these fasts that Allah has given to us are so that a person can purify himself through it.

لعلكم تتقون

So he can become a Muttaqi. Nothing else Allah has said. Despite doing all of this, and passing through Ramadan Allah says I clean and refresh you and do your maintenance so through this you can get closer to Allah. And this is called the Muttaqi person. Muadh ibn Jabal Radiyallahu Anhu one hadith I will share with you. Various times you would've heard this hadith from the respected scholars, maybe I've shared this hadith with you a few times. But it is according to our topic so I'll share it with you
Muadh Ibn Jabal Radiyallahu Anhu was a great sahabi amongst the sahabah and such was his status as I mentioned that he was the best in differentiating between the Halal and Haraam. He knew the most in this topic. Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said he was the best differentiator of this. He was being sent to Yemen. He was dispatched to Yemen. “Go to Yemen,” and he was given the responsibility and made the leader to go and teach the deen to the people. What deen? Halal and haraam.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sat him on the camel and Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself was walking by the side of the camel taking him to the outskirts. He wanted to disembark and get off the camel but Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said no. And whilst Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was walking alongside him to see him, he was giving commands and advice to him. To the extent that they reached the outskirts of Madinah, outside Madinah and they continued like this and Muadh ibn Jabal Radiyallahu Anhu kept listening to the orders and instructions and the final words of the hadith, Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, "Muadh," Unique statement." You might not see me after today, maybe when you come back after today then you will have to pass by the masjid and you will have to pass by my grave." Amazing great words of Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Muadh ibn Jabal Radiyallahu Anhu was finished and began to cry that "I wont be able to see you again." He was told. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam loved Muadh ibn Jabal Radiyallahu Anhu so much that he said "I love you". It was a statement where Muadh ibn Jabal Radiyallahu Anhu said ,"Oh Prophet of Allah I love you and then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam also said I love you." And then Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam turned his face to Madinah and then after turning his face he said a unique statement, He said Muadh,

إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِي الْمُتَّقُونَ مَنْ كَانُوا وَحَيْثُ كَانُوا

These are the final words of the hadith. Such a great message he said, أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِي الْمُتَّقُونَ
I'm with every Muttaqi and every person who does Tazkiyah. Doesn't matter who he is من كانو wherever he is حَيْثُ كَانُوا, in other words it doesn't matter who he is and how far he is but if he's a Muttaqi and he's doing tazkiyah, he's careful and he purifies his inner state, then give that person the message that he's not far from me, rather he is close to me. SubhaanAllah. What a great piece of news. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
said between me and the Muttaqi there is no distant, the distance is between the hearts, due to his sins, due to the hurdles that he puts up himself, the darkness that is within him, the one who does wrong. But Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that although you are going, if he distances himself from sins and purifies himself then he's not far from me, because the distance is not due to the gap in terms of the space or measurements but the distance is due to the darkness of the heart. That’s what closeness is. If you love someone then always that person is close to you. Isn’t it? Always you'll be thinking about that person. If you love a child so much, then he will never be detached from you. You have no need to keep his photo. Every moment in your heart you will think about that child. In your thoughts, whoever you love, he is stuck to you in your emotions and in your heart. He's stuck to your heart. A poet said, "he was very close to my heart, I was going far in distance but he was very close to my heart." Allah ta'ala was very close inside my heart. And Allah says I'm closer to you than your jugular vein, so how foolish was I that I thought my Lord was far from me, when I saw He was close to me in reality. How can it be that He's far from me. When I loved Allah then all the veils were removed, and when my defects came out, my sins came out, all the oppression came out, alhamdulillah I started to receive the light that Allah's nearness is with me. SubhaanAllah. So the distance was due to myself and my sins. Due to my disobedience. So it is not due to Allah ta'ala being far. So imagine the high Maqaam of Taqwa and Tazkiya. Here Mufti Shafi Rahmatullahi Alayh who wrote the tafseer of the Quran, Ma'ariful Quran, he was a great sufi, a great scholar, he was one of the deputies of Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanwi Rahmatullahi Alayh and Mawlana Ashraf Alif Thanwi Rahmatullahi Alayh sent him as a Khalifah to Pakistan.
He had 3 Khalifah, one was Mufti Muhammad Hassan , one was Khairud deen and one was Mufti Shafi Rahmatullahi Alayh. 3 deputies went to Pakistan and the biggest Darul ulooms in Pakistan, these 3 initiated and established them.
Mufti Muhammad Hassan founder of Darul Uloom Jamiah Ashrafiyyah Lahore, Khair Muhammad Jalandhari founder of Jamia Khairul Madaris Multan, Mufti Muhammed Shafi founder of Darul Uloom Karachi

SubhaanAllah Very great Madaaris alhamdulillah. Massive. And it was in Multan which is why all of the Mufti's even the scholars, including Mufti Abdus-Sattar Sahib, Rahmatullahi Alayh who was the Faqi Asal, the real jurist, he had a lot of knowledge in regards to Fiqh, Islamic Jurisprudence and he was known as "Faqi Asal." Hadhrat Mufti Abdus-Sattar Sahib Rahmatullahi Alayh, when he took bay'ah with my Sheikh, Hadhrat sahib, I was there with Hadhrat sahib. It was an amazing unique scene to witness. He was such a great personality, a Mufti and no one could imagine his rank. In Hadhrat sahib’s small private room, he had a big group of respected scholars with him who had come from Multan. It was a very large group and this humble servant was there by chance I went. So I asked, "who is this?" And they said " Mufti Abdus-Sattar Sahib Rahmatullahi Alayh," he is the Mufti A'azam, the head Mufti of Khairul Madaaris and he is the Faqi Asal, the highest Faqih of his time and he had a very high status and he came to take Bay'ah from my Sheikh for Tazkiyah. And when he came inside there wasn't even that much space that everyone could sit, so some people went outside and sat in the shoe area, some sat on the street, because that was the Darveish environment mashaaAllah, simple humble environment, wherever you get space, you sit. So I was in the corner looking at the people, that look at me and look at these great personalities mashaaAllah, i was sat on the shoes right in the corner, because every man sits where he deserves to sit. SubhaanAllah. So he went close to Hadhrat sahib and Hadhrat sahib gave him bay'ah and gave him the lessons and the coaching. For which reason did he come? What was his need? He came for the purpose because Taqwa is another level. Until you don't go and meet a man of Taqwa, you cannot attain Taqwa. Because he has studied all the books, he possessed all the knowledge, infact he would teach others. But he didn't have that light, and that knowledge of Taqwa. So then after that when I saw his situation and his improvement, and how the change comes to a person and I could tell you his events, you would be amazed and shocked. May Allah grant him the highest stages in Jannah. We had so much love for each other, extreme love between us. SubhaanAllah
So these are also the events of life which pass, life continues to pass by and these memories one continues to remember. SubhaanAllah. You don't forget them. So this is Taqwa. To attain this level, research was made and what was the conclusion of the research? That’s why I'm telling you today that all the lessons of Tazkiya, these are the levels that a person has to pass through to get to Taqwa. That’s why the Sufi's and the Wali of Allah have researched and done the hard work for us. So this is one research. One subject of Islam. The respected Sufi's have told us that to attain Taqwa, there's a very basic thing that we need to do which I'd like to share in your service today, due to the blessing of this Ramadan. That remember one thing. Without this, this is the research these things are within us, the capacity is within in, but we don't utilise it so we cannot get to that level. That understanding. If you don't utilise it, for example, I have my eye, if I don’t use my eye and say I can't see. So is it my foolish behaviour or the eyes? It is my foolishness isn't it? If I open my eyes and use it correctly then I can see isn't it. Allah has given me a mouth and I can eat from my mouth, but if I don't use my teeth and say, "I can't eat." I'll only be able to eat if I use my teeth. Today if we put our hand upon our hands and we give up, listen to what I am saying attentively, and not one person or two, but the whole world is full of people claiming and complaining that it is very difficult to become close to Allah. This cannot even happen. Our sins cannot be removed. Its impossible for me to leave the sins. Not one or two people, the whole society is complaining of this. Our Muslim society and even the high level of Taqwa is given up today. They say, 'I can't do this, I can't leave this wrong.' And for example, "maybe this part of the deen leaving the sins it is for special people and we can't do this
But deen isn't for special people deen is for all of us. Whoever Allah says in the Quran, لعلكم تتقون,
Has Allah ta'ala mentioned in the Quran a special selected group of people? Tell me. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,مَنْ كَانُوا وَحَيْثُ كَانُوا
Whichever individual it is, black, white, African, Punjabi, whatever offspring, whatever tribe, whatever lineage, whatever part of the world he lives in, wherever he is from, there is only one condition. That if he is a Muttaqi, then he is close to me. Oh yes, I left that event in between which I was sharing with you, that how a person get close. Mufti Shafi sahib Rahmatullahi Alayh, I was talking about that and I went off on another discussion, so this same incident, he was a great sheikh himself mashaaAllah, he was a Khalifah of Hadhrat Thanwi sahib Rahmatullahi Alayh from the pious elders. You know his history. So how much work of the deen Mufti Shafi sahib Allah took from him and mashaaAllah his children that are alive now, the work that they are doing now. So he said, "I used to go to Umrah or for Ziyarah to Madinah and
I couldn't dare to go close to the blessed Raudah." SubhaanAllah everyone has their own passion, not that those who go close are doing wrong but some people are such that out of their respect they don't dare to get close to the blessed Rawdah. So they go to convey Salaam, you know that wall at the back, they stand their from afar and they recite durood and salaam. Everyone has their own status and emotions and conditions that they are feeling. Some people are on such a high level of Taqwa that they don't feel worthy to advance and be close to the blessed Rawdah and convey their salaam over there. Nevertheless, I can't explain the depth, every person can only share and explain regarding their own conditions. I can only share my own feelings. I can't share the feelings of others with you. So his condition was such that when he would go to do Ziyaarah, to the blessed Raudah, he would go from far and he would close his eyes and cry and recite salaam and he said in my heart one thought passed that ‘where am I and where is Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.’ SubhaanAllah that look how these people are close to you, they are stood infront of your blessed Raudah, if only I had the fortune to be close to you. But I'm not capable. I'm not on that level that I can advance closer to you. And he mentioned, these are his words which I am narrating to you. He said two things. I heard a voice rise up in my heart. Alqa - you know sometimes Allah makes these things apparent, sometimes in heart, sometimes a person hears with ears, sometimes the heart makes you hear, sometimes you see it with your eyes, when Allah ta'ala shows something to a person. He was a very great personality so when a person's Tarbiyyah is being done and Allah wants to select someone for the work of the deen that you are going to do this work and this work, then according to his capacity, this person is prepared. That prepare for this work. He had to give training to hundred and thousand and millions of people and he had to write books, so this is why he experienced this condition. Not that it, "it happened to him and why isn't it happening to me?" Why is it happening to him and not to others? This is not the case. Allah ta'ala grants a person according to his status but nobody is less. The real thing is that Allah ta'ala becomes close to that person. SubhaanAllah do you understand what I'm saying or is it hard to understand? He said "at that time I heard a sudden call in my heart and I stood there firm." What was his condition at the time imagine. He said, "two 2 messages were given to me, one, that Mawlana Shafi sahib Rahmatullahi Alayh. This is not him. Rather he shares the hadith,

مَنْ كَانُوا وَحَيْثُ كَانُوا

That before what did I say,
إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِي الْمُتَّقُونَ

That the condition is that, (he was told this first) that, the person closest to me is that person, no matter how distant he is, no matter how far he is, now I'm narrating to you his words, not my words, it is written in the books. You can phone the darul uloom and enquire whether this incident occurred or not. He said, "Mawlana Shafi, this is not the case, that you think that you are inferior to me. Close to me is that person, whoever he is, regardless of how far he is, even if he isn't here present, he hasn't even arrived here, nor has he done Umrah, nor is he stood by me," this is what Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is saying, but that individual is very close to me compared to that individual, even if he's attached to the holy fence of the blessed Raudah, he's stood close to it, he is reciting abundant durood and salutations upon salutations, but that person who is far away is closer to me who is implementing my Sunnah. Say SubhaanAllah and this announcement reverberated. The one who is implementing my Sunnah. And he was a scholar and he had to do Tabligh and he stood there firm SubhaanAllah. Now mashaaAllah this is something that he kept inside his heart and he doesn't go and share it with people that I had this Kashf and I had the Ziyaarah of Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the Wali of Allah, they swallow thousands of things, they don't make these comments openly. They don't have no need to show off to people. They don't want status and recognition. So when he heard this, another word came, "Mufti Shafi, you hear this and you you need to tell people this subhanAllah that's why these words are coming to you otherwise this would not be shared with you. So when he used to share these facts and this incident in his speeches, in his gatherings that I was given a command that I need to share this. SubhaanAllah. I was given instruction that I share this with you that Allah's Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is not far from you. Dont consider that he's far from you but on the condition that you follow his Shariah and the Sunnah. That you consider haraam what he says is haraam. That you consider halal what he says is halaal. Every Sunnah you have a desire and a passion to follow and you want to attain that maqaam. So this is the level. So now, to attain everything, what is the condition? Tazkiyah. Purification. Caution. To get to this level, the high level, to become a Muttaqi, one has do perform Tazkiyah. So just like I was saying that those people who give up, they lose hope. This is increasing within the whole of society today and mostly within the Muslim population. As the world gets closer to Qiyamah, as the fitna becomes close to us then this group will be bigger in number. "Its too hard we can't practice this. This sunnah is too hard, how can we practice this Sunnah? How can we leave this action. Its too hard. So this group of people who complain, will be the most in the Ummah. So the beautiful cure and real solution for this diasese is that Allah ta'ala has created something inside of you which you have not utilised, if you utilised this it wouldn't be hard for you to practice. What is the point, the Wali of Allah have researched this point. That thing if you utilise that thing then it is impossible that you won't get closer or Allah and you will attain all those levels that make a person a Muttaqi. And you can attain the nearness of Allah. There no restriction for a human being. Its an open field.

مَنْ كَانُوا وَحَيْثُ كَانُوا
That whoever is he, wherever he is, however he is, whatever creed he is, there is no differentiation in Islam. Not at all. Why don't we attain this thing? This level of Taqwa? Because we are weak inside so come Allah ta'ala has given us the guts, he has given us the quality which we need to utilise. What is that? Listen to this now. Its not difficult for us to attain the nearness to Allah doesn't matter if Allah commands you to do the greatest acts of worship, you must do this, it will become so easy that you can't even imagine. This is the research of the Wali Allah. What is that thing? Listen. It is a very small thing within us. We are aware of it but we don't use it. For example, there is a house and there is everything inside it, sometimes they say, "yaar, it is very easy to cure this, do you not have turmeric inside your house?" "Oh yes we have turmeric." "So take a pinch of turmeric and the pain of your stomach will be gone." Today we use a lot of formula's don't we isn't it. "Oh you have high blood pressure? Don't you have cinnamon?" "Oh yes, we have kept jars of cinnamon." "Just utilise it, maybe half a tea spoon, mix it in the water and your blood pressure will go." Yes i am giving you medicine too. So the blood pressure is eliminated with this. So in your house you have those remedies but we don’t use them, then how can you cure yourself. You give up and say my blood pressure won't go but sometimes there are important formulas and they are there within us but we don't bother with them and we don't use them as solutions. This is our situation that inside us are great treasures but we don’t utilise them. If you want to utilise them go to a Wali Allah and he will coach your guide you, make you learn how to use them, but you must have the courage just like Hadhrat Musa Alayhis salaam and he had the event with Hadhrat Khidr Alayhis salaam that he was a Nabi and he said that I want to learn this, Allah said, "will you have patience?" It takes time to learn this, you have to have endurance. He said, "yes I will have patience." He said, "you won't be able to do it." You've heard this story in Surah Kahf which you must have read, what is the Quran teaching us here? Tazkiyah. The path of Tazkiyah. This incident occurred with a Nabi and you are a Ummati. Be careful and cautious of one thing. That on this path. This is the path where you have to be patient and endure and keep going. Don’t lose hope otherwise you will fail and that is what happened to Hadhrat Musa Alayhis salaam. He said that, "you cannot do this. You're not a student. Its not my fault I would've given you everything but you didn't have patience. You became worried so quickly." So if you want to treat this path, don't look at 5, 6, 10 years, the whole, you need to learn this path for your entire life. Dedicate your entire life to it because its not something small. If you want success in the Hereafter, you're not seeking a small treasure. Everything will be perfect for you there. We need to reach there and we never know, death can come anytime and that's it. Done. And suddenly the veil will be be removed and the Hereafter will arrive. Death is written and it is written when your last death will be drawn, just like when a man dies, you will die and you'll go into the Hereafter. But as long as you are alive, why are you wasting time, speaking nonsense. Why not try to attain that level? So what do we need to attain it? The Mashaikh and the Wali's of Allah, they have told us and they've discovered that it is within us. We don’t utilise it and what is that? Courage and determination. Say SubhaanAllah. We don’t have the courage and we are cowards. We lose hope. We are so cowards that don’t even ask. We lose heart. "Its my fault. I can't do this. Its too hard for me." Just like a woman hits herself and says, "it's my fault." For example when a person gets mad and crazy although its not their fault. This is our situation, there is s mountain infront of us, a man is standing at the bottom of the mountain, he wants to climb to the summit but he tells himself, "are you mad how can you climb this mountain?" And this is normal life, everyday a person has these challenges." "How can i do this, it is too difficult yaar, i can't do this." "Okay just be a bit determined. Have some courage." So when he moves and he starts that journey then Allah ta'ala promises, وجاهدوا فينا that when you muster the courage, that is when my Mercy will come immediately. But what we do it, we anticipate Allah's mercy first. That first, let Allah's mercy come and then let be pushed with that to the top. Look at the difference in our thinking and mindset. When we supplicate, "Allah grant me the ability." We keep waiting. We think Tawfeeq, ability is someone who will give us a push. Then we start practicing. Allah says no its not like this. "You place one foot on the mountain. Place your second foot and I will make you take the third step." SubhaanAllah. And then that same person, its this same person, its not a second person, he who keeps going, walking, climbing and he gets to the summit of Mount Everest. Do people do this or not? The height that they reach of that mountain. They get to the top of the mountain. They get to the depth of the ocean, because he has courage and determination and drive and effort. I stand at the bottom and think ,"it's too hard," but he worked hard and had determination, Allah's mercy assisted him. He keeps on working and Allah's mercy keeps coming. Because Mercy of Allah is such a power. So what happens is that same mountain which was so hard for him to climb, as he climbs it, that difficulty becomes easy, rather alongside it another emotion is developed, he starts to enjoy that journey. Say SubhaanAllah. The same journey he gets enjoyment and then he says, "yaar, this is a nice fresh air here in the mountains." SubhaanAllah then he goes above and then he sees the spring and the water and such cool water, and he says, "such cool water I didn't get at the bottom. It was dirty water." So as he is trying hard and making the effort he gets coolness and emotion and after such a long time he gets to his destination and he says, "that all was a waste of them, this is the real life at the top which I thought was too hard." Do you understand from the example?
So when you say it is too close to get closer to Allah, then step forth and start walking. Why are you afraid. You know the greatest way to get to Allah, the method, how does a person get close to Allah. To get to Allah ta'ala's nearness, the Tareeqa, that you have no determination. There are two things which I told you, whatever Allah says, do. And whatever Allah ta'ala says leave then leave that. 2 things we have to do and we will win the world. When Allah says "do," then we don't do. We say, "I don’t have the determination its too hard for me, I can't do it." Allah ta'ala says, don't do this. "No Allah, I've got to do this. I’m so busy in this. Its so difficult, I have to do this, al my success us due to this. If I leave this then everything will be spoilt for me." Now here, what do we need? The person who wants to attain Allah, what is he going to use first. Strength. How can it be that Allah has given me this action to do and I don’t? How can I not pray Tahajjud? When Allah has given it to me to pray. When you have determination, for example you say, I want to pray Tahajjud, Allah says "I am closest to you at the time of Tahajjud", and if I sleep at that time then how can I attain Allah's nearness at the time. Then my life is wasted then isn’t it. This small amount of time, Allah has given me, 30 years, 20 years, why don't I enjoy every night I speak to Allah at Tahajjud time. How foolish I was that I went to bed scared in my bed that I won't be able to do it. Then how did Abdul Qadir Jilani Rahmatullahi Alayh do it. How did Mujjaddid Alf Thani Rahmatullahi Alayh do it?
How did Nizaam-ud-deen Awliyah become Nizaam-ud-deen Awliyah? They didn’t just become Wali Allah themselves, how did they raise thousands of people to this status too? So why are you sitting there crying. Stand and get up. Seek a Sheikh and he will guide you. SubhaanAllah. But even when we find the Sheikh, even then we don’t move. Even then we want the Sheikh to give us a jump start. We just want dua. What dua do you want. Dua for what? When inside you, you have the guts and the courage, fantastic point Allah has put inside you that you can climb to the top of mount Everest according to the success of the world and even there Allah ta'ala has helped you so then when you take steps on the journey to become closer to Allah, you take means to abandon the Haraam, so will Allah not assist you in abandoning that Haraam? But we need time for this. Alongside the courage, we need a target, I wont do this thing anymore. Because with this Allah ta'ala will be unhappy with me. If I lie Allah will be unhappy with me. So Allah ta'ala has put us into this world of test and challenges. We are in the test. So Allah wants to see if we leave or not leave and how much do we love to attain Allah's nearness. How much does he pull himself together with drive and determination. Allah has given us such strength and drive that it can crush the rocks with it. SubhaanAllah. He can bear and persevere through everything.

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِنَ الْأَمْوَالِ

[2:155]

He can bear and persevere through every type of fear, every type of hunger and thirst. He will persevere through all negative conditions. But he won't go against that command regarding which Allah has ordered him not to do. SubhaanAllah
So the ones who don't act are those who don't utilise their courage my friends! This is the reality. So whose fault is it? Astaghfirullah. Whose fault is it? It is ours because we don't muster the courage and determination to become closer to Allah. We have made our own syllabus. Our own agenda. "Do dua I get closer to Allah. Do this action and get closer to Allah."

Let me get close through x,y and z. We don't use our determination, effort and courage to achieve that great end point. Nothing can be achieved without courage. But strength is such a unique quality, that the first thing which makes us fear, "you cant practice, you can't become pious. You can't practice the deen." All of this fear which is created within a human being, he is upon that if he has courage and determination. You say, "I will do it, I will a hundred percent do it. I want to get closer to Allah. I want to attain Allah's Qurb, His nearness." When nafs and shaytan put him into the trials, refrain from it. Have courage. Take guidance from a Wali Allah. But you must make the effort yourself. When you try, then Allah says, "I will show you the path of my love and the destination for it." Allah says, "I have told you everything, all knowledge has come to you." Allah says that I like this very much. Your waking up in Tahajjud, I like this very much. SubhaanAllah. Your this action, I like this very much. And through this action, I become very close to you." Why don't you do that action tell me? Why? Because we don't have courage. In fact, the strength is within us! We are just cowards. Such a big thing. We need to understand this. When we are following this path, then Allah ta'ala is extremely graceful and merciful and he gives us blessings. Such a great path that you are travelling as students you have forgotten yourselves, you can't get to my nearness, so then Allah ta'ala gave us Ramadan. The greatest teaching of Ramadan is teaching us how to gain determination. A big Mujaahadah Allah gave us first, which we didn't have before in the year. Stay hungry, leave drinks, leave everything and ontop of that, another Mujaahadah he gave us is to leave the halal actions. Now they are stopped too. What a great Mujaahadah He gave us? And then He told us to do. "Well do it one day." Allah said, "no. Not one day. Everyday. From morning till evening you have to practice. In this the blessing comes that whenever a Sheikh gives you a job to do for 40 days, then 40 days do that action and then after 40 days there is so much blessings that that action will become permanent for you. You will become permanent in that action. You say that, I'm going to pray Salah for 40 days in this way and then after 40 days when you practice then make a programme, a schedule, 40 days I’m going to pray like this. I swear by Allah, with Allah's Fadl, if you do that action for the 40 day target, then InshaaAllah it will continue and become complete. So Allah ta'ala gave us 30 days to make us Muttaqi. And who is a Muttaqi? He who follows Allah's orders and whatever Allah ta'ala commands him to leave, he leaves. He accepts Allah's instructions and whatever Allah commands to abstain from, he abstains from. When he does these 2 actions, what does he become? A Muttaqi. Who is a Muttaqi? For whom Allah's Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,

إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِي الْمُتَّقُونَ مَنْ كَانُوا وَحَيْثُ كَانُوا

I am sat in Madina and maybe he is in Bolton or some other region, in Glasgow, in London, in America, Africa but he is such a person as defined by Allah's Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam who has given a guarantee that I am close to that person, much closer to that person who is stuck to my blessed Raudah but if be discards my Sunnah and doesn't consider Haraam and Haraam and he is stuck to my holy fence, reciting durood and crying, reciting nasheeds, then "what do you know how far are you from me, oh man, you are opposed to me. You are saying wrong. If you had true love for me, then you would've loved those deeds and actions which I have brought to the world." So this is the deen my friends. Deen isn't about crying and shrieking. It's about determination and guts. You say, "of course i can do this, can't I get up for Tahajjud? Tahajjud is nothing. Its easy." One day you set the alarm, next day you'll wake up, then you'll prepare again and Allah's mercy will immediately come to you. And such a time that it is so hard for you to wake up for Tahajjud, that "I can't get up it is impossible" we say. Such a time will come that you won't even feel like sleeping, "oh i don’t want my Tahajjud to be missed." SubhaanAllah. Due to the sleep that you were not praying Tahajjud, wallahi, people have told me this, I don’t know this. They say "I don’t even feel sleepy now out of fear that I don't want Tahajjud to be missed." Have you seen this? Allah's mercy is like this. So this is what the fast is teaching us. Such a great Mujaahadah im making you do that a common man on the street who doesn't even pray salaah, every human being is doing. Fasting is compulsory upon every person. This is what Allah ta'ala is saying.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ

Meaning. Every man of Imaan who has Laa Ilaaha Ilallah in his heart, doesn't matter how sinful that person is, doesn't matter how extremely sinful that man or woman is, all of you people, Allah says come you have to do Tazkiyah to attain Taqwa. You come. You come. You come. Everyone come to my Khankah Allah says. Which Khankah? The Ramadan shareef Khankah. SubhaanAllah. Allah says, Enter. Allah says I want to make all of you Muttaqi. To become a Muttaqi, step number one is what? Allah says i'll teach you courage and determination. So don’t be afraid. On the first fast, a person who doesn't pray taraweeh, doesn't pray salah, doesn't wake up at Tahajjud time, forget about Tahajjud, he doesn't even pray Salah. Allah ta'ala wakes him up at that time where Allah ta'ala is closest, I come to the lowest heaven and I say, "is there anyone who wants provisions from me I can give him provisions?" Is there anyone who wants health I can give him health? So this high level is given to the one who is close to Allah isn't it? Today that person is being awakened who was a waster before. And he is woken up at that time and Allah says, "wake up, do sehri and fast is also compulsory upon you." Then he wakes up at that time, the poor soul, bad state of affairs before Ramadan. And he's like us. We are also sinful people, "oh yaar Ramadan has come. Oh yaar it is too hard. I’m finished. I have to wake up in the morning. I have to think about my programme and how will I go to work? How will I drive the taxi? How will I do other things?" He’s complaining already in advance but what is enabling us? Courage and determination. Okay yaar I have to do this. A little bit of determination and courage comes in to you. Lightweight amount. And then you have to keep the fast. Soon as you keep the fast, then Allah's mercy comes. Soon as Allah's mercy comes then our situation becomes such that when Ramadan ends he feels that "I don't want Ramadan to leave. Its better for me." This same person. Did you know that 15 days or 16 days have gone? How much enjoyment there is in Ramadan. SubhaanAllah. So Ramadan is giving us the message that every command of Allah that Allah orders us, understand it. Allah says "understand my every order because its so enjoyable that when you practice it with wisdom, you start to enjoy practicing." No order Allah has given to us to cause us pain or distress. Allah says "when I tell you to leave sin, it is for your benefit.
No Sunnah have I given you to give you sorrow and distress. You try and do it. Have courage and drive and you'll enjoy your life when you do this. In this dunya and in the Hereafter." So my brothers. This message that we have been given by Ramadan is a beautiful message that if we want to become successful and become Muttaqi then what should we do? We should have drive and courage that if we can do Mujaahadah of keeping the fast, hunger and fast, we're doing everything, then we should try hard that why don't we follow Allah's orders? We become so down. "This is too hard for us." Today it is hard but Hellfire is harder than this my friends. The night of the grave is harder my friends. May Allah ta'ala grant us the courage and every human being has that desire. Every human being has that want that I do Ziyaarah of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. That he becomes close to me. That I also hear with my ears that he loves me. SubhaanAllah. So Allah's Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “,no problem. Easy. You can attain all of this. Become a Muttaqi.” The hadith has guarantee in it so "yes I am very close to you." Do this action and I will be close to you. You have no need to buy and ticket and travel and come close to me. You have no need to purchase the airline ticket. Whatever is compulsory upon you, hajj, do the Hajj, after that its fine even if you don't come. For the rest of your life, just live your life like the Hajj, always I will be with you and alongside you, and assisting you. SubhaanAllah But no we don't want to do this. There's a lot of fake and drama, upside down. Make us say things. I'm a lover of the Rasul. And that’s it, I think I have achieved. This will not give us success. Our deen is not like this. It is very straightforward simple deen. There's only one path. Consider halaal as halaal, haraam as haraam, accept it on this path with courage. End of story. And measure what is beloved to Allah and say "I will do it because it is beloved to Allah." Whatever action Allah likes, Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has given a whole list, Allah has given a whole list. Not to us. But he has given it in the hands of His Habib. So we can understand and accept. That is what you call the Sunnah. Then he put them into implementation and showed us by saying, "Allah loves this so you also do what Allah loves like I am doing." SubhaanAllah. This is what you call Sunnah. So doing the actions the Sunnah way. Not that Allah loves one thing and you're doing it your own way. No. These things Allah gave to Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam directly and not to us and he implemented it for us. Like Tahajjud. Tahajjud wasn't given to us directly. Who was it given to? Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was taught it and then he demonstrated it to show us and then we read it exactly how he read it. This is what you call implementing the Sunnah. This is it. But if I start reading my own Tahajjud, then what would happen? Then i'll be spoiling the action and it won't be success. InshaaAllah may Allah accept our gathering and allow us to implement what we heard today. Ameen
