Hadhrat Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه reported: Nabi ﷺ said, “Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times, Paradise will say: O Allah, admit him into Paradise! Whoever seeks protection from Hellfire three times, Hellfire will say: O Allah, save him from the Hellfire!” [Tirmidhi Shareef]
When a person seeks Allah ta'ala for Paradise three times, then Paradise intercedes for him and requests Allah ta'ala to enter him in to Paradise. When a person seeks refuge from Hellfire three times, Hellfire requests Allah ta'ala for this person's protection from Hellfire. If a person doesn't believe this, he is a loser.
In reality, this is a great and effective dua to be safe from Hellfire and to enter Paradise. Shaytan doesn't allow us to remember these great supplications at the time of dua. It leaves our minds and we end up getting distracted. Nonetheless, we should make it a habit to ask Allah ta'ala for Paradise and seek refuge from Hellfire three times.
This is a very simple action and in doing so, we increase our certainty in the Prophet ﷺ. If we fail to adopt this habit, it means we lack certainty that our prayers will be fulfilled. If we fail to have certainty, we can never attain this achievement. However, if we have certainty, we will never lose out. The more belief we have in the Holy Prophet ﷺ's words, the more it will benefit us.
We are weak in our certainty which is why we abandon this practice although it is a very fantastic deed. We should have conviction that in making this supplication, we will be free from Hellfire and admitted in to Paradise.
We should not lose hope and determination in the benefit of these supplications because Allah ta'ala can transform our condition and remove our sins at any times.
Due to the blessing of this supplication, Allah ta'ala enables a person to perform the actions which will lead him to Paradise. Allah ta'ala creates the means and if a person adopts those means, he is heading towards Paradise. This is why we should never lose hope in being improved and becoming pious.
اللَّهمَّ إنِّي أسألُك الجنةَ ، وأعوذُ بك منَ النارِ
At the time of sleep and at the time of rising in the morning, we should sit up and make it a habit to recite this prayer three times. If we do not know Arabic, we should recite this prayer in Urdu. Thereafter, we should wipe our hands over our face and convey one durood upon the Prophet ﷺ. "Assalaatu was-salaamu alayka ya Rasul ullah ﷺ, Assalaatu wassalaamu alayka ya Nabi Allah ﷺ" and the angels will present the durood and bear witness to our durood.
We may be extremely sinful, however we possess faith. Therefore, we shouldn’t lose hope. If we practice this deed, our greatest sins will be eliminated.
Even those who are righteous should recite this supplication as a means of protection as we do not know when our conditions could change. We have no guarantee over our state.
This is a very small and easy action so we should deliver this learning to others and make it a habit for ourselves.
This is a small prescription and we may attain success via performing small deeds like this. After implementing such actions, a person begins performing greater deeds out of gratitude.
May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
