Doing your dhikr properly takes times and effort, so it's natural to want to feel the benefit, see a sign for it. Allah's mercy enters the heart of the dhaakir. But the sign is not visions, but love and care for creation. Hard heart leads to oppresion, breaking ties, breaks shariah and sunnah. Soft heart like flexible branch, not stiff one dried out on sun. Soft heart has sympathy and affection for others, desire to help others. Hadith: on day of judgement, person selected for jannati will be allowed to take those who helped him in the dunya, with him.
Creation is a family, family of Allah. Family help each other. But we're self centred. Only maintain relations or help people for self-interest. Hard heart. We should help all, any nation, any religion, man, animal etc. If you help creation, and creation is from Allah's family, don't you think He'll be happy with you? Ask a sick person how they are, making your Jannah. Hadith: jannati will even pull people destined got hell into jannah.
Dhaakir will become soft, beautiful manner with wife, family in-laws etc. Doesn't snap at things. Don't even want to hurt a fly. No anger, deflect issues with good humour, ignores bad stuff done to him. Sacrifice yourself for others comfort. THIS is sign of proper Dhikr. Attain Jannah on earth.
Make effort. Do three things - Dhikr in abandance, company of shaikh, do Deeds he tells you to do. Path is long and windy, but keep at it. Steadfast. Shaikh has greater love than even father for you.
