The believers have not been prohibited from benefiting from the blessings of this world, as long as they remain within the boundaries of Shariah. However, we should always keep the objective of life before us and never forget it, because if we do, both this world and the Hereafter will be ruined.
Our objective in life is to obey Allah ta'ala through complete imitation of the Prophet ﷺ. If we live our lives in this manner, then we have lived within the boundaries of Shariah. The pleasure of Allah ta'ala is attained through obedience and by following the Prophet ﷺ.
If any act of worship is performed against the Sunnah, then it will not be accepted and may instead become a source of punishment. It will cause harm even if you feel satisfaction in your heart, because this feeling can be deception. Our deeds are only accepted when they are performed in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ.
It is a shame that we present thousands of excuses to avoid following the Prophet ﷺ.
"And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, has truly achieved a great triumph." [33:71]
By following these two, a person attains Paradise. Allah ta'ala has made this path easy by granting us the means to achieve it. It is Shaytan and our desires that make it appear difficult. They divert us from the true path and the true objective, while we continue trying to convince ourselves that we are still lovers of Allah ta'ala and His Prophet ﷺ.
Allah ta'ala shows us the true Deen and the path of guidance through the Prophets ﷺ and the pious. However, because of our own desires, we invent our own version of the Deen and follow our own path. Although the true path has been shown to us, our desires lead us elsewhere.
Thereafter, Allah ta'ala may leave a person upon this misguided path for a long time and remove the blessings from his life because he failed to take heed from the warnings of Allah ta'ala.
Allah ta'ala may allow such a person to enjoy the pleasures of this
he opportunity to return. He persists in his wrongdoing until the day Allah ta'ala seizes him and punishes him. When a person becomes firm upon rebellion, he is punished in both worlds.
Those who are pious and face hardships understand that this worldly life is very short. They view these trials as part of the wisdom of Allah ta'ala and therefore do not become fearful or worried.
Those who possess true faith realise that the greatest wealth in life is the ability to follow the commands of Allah ta'ala and His Rasul ﷺ completely. They are content with poverty if it allows them to avoid doubtful matters, and through this, their rank is elevated.
We are only in this world for a short period of time. We should control our desires, avoid sin, overcome our lower self, and wake up for Fajr. By doing so, we will attain success in both worlds. We will receive the bounties and palaces of Paradise.
The pious women of this world will possess greater beauty than the Hoor of Paradise. Likewise, the pious women of this world will be granted handsome and righteous husbands in Paradise.
We should never abandon Salah, nor should we lie or commit fraud. These are all tests of this worldly life.
How Do We Practice True Islam?
It is actually easy to practice the Deen. Until a believer sits in the company of a Sheikh who carries out his Tazkiyah, he cannot truly draw close to Allah ta'ala.
Similarly, every Muslim should visit the company of a WaliAllah and seek his guidance. This strengthens a person in practicing Islam and attaining the pleasure of Allah ta'ala. This is an easy path.
Allah ta'ala has granted the AwliyahAllah the ability to guide His creation. Whoever sincerely connects himself to a Sheikh will, by the permission of Allah ta'ala, reach his destination.
Whoever connects himself to a Sheikh will eventually find guidance. Before death, he will certainly be granted the ability to repent and will learn how to obey Allah ta'ala and His Rasul ﷺ. This is the objective of the Mashaikh.
The Mashaikh possess complete Imaan and a high level of Taqwa. They are able to control their desires and possess light through the gatherings of Dhikr.
As soon as we connect ourselves to their company, we begin to improve. We gain rectification, good manners, and beneficial knowledge of the Deen. A believer never leaves the company of a Sheikh empty-handed.
Allah ta'ala has pl
aced cure and benefit in their company for the one whose intention is sincere and whose aim is to attain the nearness and pleasure of Allah ta'ala. Such a person will certainly improve, and many of his shortcomings will be removed through the company of the Sheikh.
Knowledge is of little benefit if a person cannot put it into practice through the company of a Sheikh.
The greatest quality found in the company of a Sheikh is that it creates within a person the desire to practice the Deen and grants him the ability to sincerely repent.
True repentance is to completely change our ways. When a person sincerely repents, it is as though he never committed those sins.
Allah ta'ala alone grants the ability to repent. We should never think that repentance is guaranteed whenever we choose to make it.
Only when Allah ta'ala enables us to repent are we able to do so. Repentance is a gift from Allah ta'ala, and the one who receives this gift is truly fortunate.
We should never fear repentance because pleasing Allah ta'ala is easy. Shaytan makes us believe that repentance will make our lives more difficult.
It is a shame that we repent, yet continue breaking the laws of Shariah within our own homes. We freely mix between men and women and neglect modesty. This happens because our repentance was not made with the true intention of fulfilling the purpose of our lives and following the Prophet ﷺ.
If we have taken the hand of a Sheikh yet have not improved ourselves, then there is no greater punishment than this.
Allah ta'ala has indeed made practicing the Deen easier by spreading His AwliyahAllah throughout the world. If we connect ourselves to them sincerely with the intention of improving ourselves, then we will, by the permission of Allah ta'ala, be led to Paradise.
When a person visits the company of a Sheikh with sincerity, he will certainly be enabled to follow the Sunnah.
Unfortunately, we follow our desires and break the laws of Shariah in order to gain worldly benefit. We continue making excuses to justify our shortcomings in practicing the Deen.
There are false scholars today who attempt to dilute the Deen in order to increase the size of their following. You will never truly benefit from them.
"Say, ˹O Prophet ﷺ,˺ “If you ˹sincerely˺ love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins. For Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful." [3:31]
The way to attain the love of Allah ta'ala is to imitate the ways of the Prophet ﷺ. If we attain the love of Allah ta'ala, then He will never send us to the Hellfire.
It is a shame that we feel embarrassed to practice the Sunnah. We should repent and take the guidance of a Sheikh in or
der to travel upon this path.
By imitating the Prophet ﷺ, we will follow Islam in its complete form. If we desire complete Imaan, beautiful manners, and the ability to suppress our desires, then we should firmly hold on to the Sunnah.
In Ahadith it is mentioned that a person is upon the religion of his close friend. Thus, we should keep the company of friends who possess good manners and strong Imaan so that we may become like them. This is why we should remain in the company of the AwliyahAllah. In the Hereafter, we will also be with those whom we loved and accompanied.
May Allah ta'ala grant us the ability to implement these precious pearls of wisdom.
