Today’s Bayaan

The soul of Hajj is Dhikr. The time of Asr has been selected as a special time for Dhikr. Those whom Allah ta'ala loves, He grants them the ability to engage in Dhikr.

Every action has an external and an internal reality. The affairs of the dunya are connected to external attractions, and often we become immersed in these outward things such as beautiful scenery, greenery, women, and wealth. We become captivated by these things and sacrifice ourselves for them. We become attached to the world and regard it as our permanent objective.

However, we fail to understand the true reality and internal nature of the world. This is why we do not reject the dunya; instead, we love it and fear poverty. Unfortunately, we are impressed by the glitter and advancements of this world, and we use it for our so-called benefit.

On the other hand, those who have understood the reality of the world dislike it within their hearts. Such people are the people of wisdom and understanding.

The Sahabah were taught the true nature of this world so that they could recognise its reality and detach their hearts from it. Great emphasis was placed upon understanding the reality of the dunya.

We must remove the love of the world from our hearts; otherwise, we cannot attain true success and the nearness of Allah ta'ala. We should live in this world like travellers and avoid hoarding wealth and assets, even if people mock us for our abstinence.

The love of the world cannot be removed from the heart until a person attains the company of a Sheikh.

The true intellectual people are those who understand the reality of the world, the reality of Salah, and the reality of the Qur’an. We often limit ourselves to the outward actions only, whereas there is immense wisdom and spiritual light within worship. A Muslim should become immersed in worship. If we truly attained the reality of Salah, then every prayer would generate love within our hearts.

"They are those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth." [3:191]

To understand the reality of life, we must adopt the company of the wise people who spent their lives in the remembrance of Allah ta'ala. The Wali of Allah ta'ala teaches Dhikr, and through this the love of Allah ta'ala spreads while the love of the world is removed from the heart, causing a person to dislike attachment to the dunya.

وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ

They perform Muraqabah; they reflect deeply, and through this concern for the Hereafter develops within them. In this way, the reality of the world becomes unveiled to them.

رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

.."Our Lord! You have not created ˹all of˺ this without purpose. Glory be to You! Protect us from the torment of the Fire." [3:191]

Allah ta'ala has created this world, and it is an impure and temporary place. He has warned us not to attach ourselves to it, for it is a test and a deception. This world is not the final objective; rather, it is a place of preparation for the Hereafter.

We should not fall into the traps of the dunya which pull a person away from Allah ta'ala. Instead, we should strive to save ourselves from the punishment of the grave and attain Paradise. This should be our true objective. We should use this world only to fulfil our needs and necessities and not sacrifice our entire lives for it.

We can develop this mindset by engaging in abundant Dhikr of the heart.

Allah ta'ala has praised the Dhaakireen in the Qur’an and described them as the true people of intellect. On the Day of Judgement, they will be called forward and honoured. Despite being mocked in this world, they will be granted a lofty status in the Hereafter. The flag of
Haging in Dhikr, his entire body becomes illuminated, and concern for the Hereafter develops within him.

“I was sent to this land to revive the Sunnah and spread the Dhikr of Allah ta'ala. I was instructed to remain steadfast even when facing mockery from scholars.”

We should make a firm intention to learn Dhikr. Through this, our sins will gradually be removed, our hearts will become enlightened, and the love for temporary things will disappear.

We should remain committed to the morning and evening gatherings of Dhikr so that we may become among the thankful servants of Allah ta'ala. If we choose to distance ourselves from gatherings of Dhikr, we will be questioned regarding this. A person never suffers any loss by sitting in Dhikr; therefore, we should attend these gatherings and encourage others towards them.

These gatherings bring immense benefit. Although we may engage in worldly affairs throughout the day, we should begin and end our day with Dhikr.

Dhikr is among the greatest actions that save a person from the punishment of the grave.

May Allah ta'ala grant us the ability to implement these precious pearls of wisdom. Ameen.
