Pillars of Love

The successful human being is the one who is grateful to Allah ta'ala for His blessings and fulfils the duties of life without complaining or constantly demanding more.

A believer continuously prepares for the Hereafter through their daily routine, such as performing the five daily prayers. Prayer has not been ordained to disrupt our lives or create hardship. Rather, we should strive to attend the masjid for congregational prayer even while managing work and responsibilities.

وَلَدَارُ الْآخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

"And surely the ˹eternal˺ Home of the Hereafter is far better for those mindful ˹of Allah˺. Will you not then understand?" [12:109]

We have not been created to obsess over careers or children. The purpose of life is not to chase wealth. Instead, we should live cautiously, with fear of Allah ta'ala, knowing that the Hereafter is our true home.

Those who understand their purpose in life are truly fortunate. We should refle
cr and fears Allah ta'ala will abstain from haram and will not belittle the Deen.

We should be content with the sustenance Allah ta'ala has granted us and avoid comparing ourselves to others. Allah ta'ala knows exactly what we need, and how having more could harm us. All His decisions are based on perfect wisdom.

What is the preparation for the Hereafter?
It is to implement the commands of Allah ta'ala throughout our lives. The Messengers were not sent to change the Deen or merely to display miracles; rather, they were sent to remind us of our purpose. After them, the Awliya Allah were sent to continue the work of the Prophet ﷺ.

They are the true followers and chosen deputies of the Prophet ﷺ. Their words carry impact, and their lives are devoted entirely to connecting others to Allah ta'ala. It is unfortunate that we do not follow their guidance or connect ourselves to them.

The commands of Allah ta'ala are of two types: to perform good and to abstain from evil. While we often perform good deeds, we fail to abstain from evil. Both are essential. Weakness in either will prevent success. Those who strive to fulfil both are truly preparing for the Hereafter. Allah ta'ala remains connected to such people and supports them throughout their lives. They are con
t purpose.

The most important act after faith is prayer, which we have been commanded to establish. Without prayer, the believer would be devoid of light. It is the greatest gift after faith.

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked about the best of deeds. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Prayer.” The man asked, “Then what?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Then prayer.” He asked again, “Then what?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Then prayer.” He repeated this three times. The man then asked, “Then what?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Then jihad in the way of Allah.” [Ahmad Shareef]

In the Hereafter, our success will be based on prayer. If a person’s prayer is accepted by Allah ta'ala, then the rest of his deeds will also be accepted. This highlights the عظمت of prayer. It is a shame that within our homes, people neglect prayer without concern. Parents will also be held accountable if they fail to teach their children to pray.

A person who deliberately abandons prayer is considered a disbeliever no matter how much other worship he performs. If he does not repent, he will die as one.

It is unfortunate that we think there is no loss in abandoning prayer, because our definition of success is limited to this world.

Prayer is clear proof that a person is preparing for the Hereafter. There is no compromise regarding prayer for any man or woman.
It is also a shame that we compromise the Sunnah out of fear of being left behind in worldly matters. Immodesty has become widespread, especially among women, who leave their homes in tight clothing and makeup. The Prophet ﷺ warned strongly against such actions, yet they have become common in society.

Advice and reminders have little effect on the one who abandons prayer. Even harsh words do not change him. However, there is always a solution for one who has deviated.
W
hen people are asked why they do not pray or attend gatherings, they often claim it is too difficult. This mindset is harmful. Allah ta'ala has removed difficulty from the Deen and provided ease.

A person exerts immense effort to earn money, sacrificing time, energy, and comfort, yet claims it is not difficult. This is because love of the world fills his heart. In contrast, he finds practising the Deen difficult. This is a major problem in society.

فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
"So ask the people of the message if you do not know." [16:43]

Allah ta'ala commands us to consult knowledgeable scholars who engage in dhikr, possess purity, and have undergone tazkiyah. Such individuals provide true guidance without compromising the laws of Islam. Their خوف of Allah ta'ala ensures sincerity in their rulings.

What prevents us from practising the Deen?
It is the lack of love for Allah ta'ala. We must develop this love. When the love of Allah ta'ala fills the heart, it naturally drives a person towards good deeds. We must replace love of the world with love for Allah ta'ala.

Love is the driving force behind all actions. A person does not need reminders to earn money; even when sick, he strives for it because his heart is attached to it.

If we truly loved Allah ta'ala, we would wake up for prayer without hesitation. To develop this love, we must sit in the company of those who already possess it, as mentioned in the Ahadith.

Hadhrat Mu’adh ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah Almighty said: My love is assured for those who love each other for My sake, who sit together for My sake, who visit each other for My sake, and who spend on each other for My sake.” [Ahmad Shareef]

From this, we learn that a person attains the love of Allah ta'ala through the company of the Awliya Allah. With this love, practising Islam becomes easy. Without it, nothing else can make a person firm in Deen.

We should reflect on why we continue to commit sins and assess our level of love for Allah ta'ala. His love provides true direction.

A true Aalim is one who practises tazkiyah and sacrifices everything for Allah ta'ala. He remains humble, even learning from those
wHuffadh suffer from pride and ostentation.

May Allah ta'ala grant us the ability to implement these precious pearls of wisdom. Ameen.
