Tonight is the night of Laylatul Qadr. Allah ta'ala has gathered us here on this blessed night, and the truly intelligent person is the one who takes full advantage of it.
How to spend this night?
The rewards on this night are truly unique. The reward for good deeds are multiplied by more than a thousand months. Therefore, we should be eager to earn as many rewards as possible tonight and take maximum benefit from it.
What is the best deed to perform during this night according to the Quran and Ahadith?
It was narrated from Hadhrat Aishah رضي الله عنها that she said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think I should say in my supplication, if I come upon Laylatul-Qadr?" He said: " You should supplicate:
(O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me).'" [Ibn Majah Shareef]
We should abandon all other deeds and perform the deed which the Prophet ﷺ advised Hadhrat Aishah رضي الله عنها.
These last ten nights are the essence of Ramadan. Whoever repents on this night has not only attained Laylatul Qadr, but has truly attained the whole of Ramadan. However, if we waste this night, then we have wasted the entire month of Ramadan.
We should seek forgiveness from all our previous sins tonight as Allah ta'ala loves forgiving. This is the greatest deed of Ramadan through which a person may earn Paradise. Whoever sincerely seeks forgiveness for his sins on this night, shoul
dhip during it.
Before performing any other good deed, we should prioritise sincerely seeking forgiveness from Allah ta'ala. Thereafter, we may engage in various acts of worship as we wish, because it is only after repentance that a person’s deeds are accepted.
"O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens under which rivers flow.." [66:8]
What is the method of sincere forgiveness which a person may attain once in his life?
"O Prophet ﷺ! When the believing women come to you, pledging to you that they will neither associate anything with Allah...." [60:12]
Tonight, is the perfect opportunity to find a Sheikh and make sincere repentance at his hands. This is the best deed one may perform tonight. The womenfolk may contact Hadhrat Sahib via telephone, through which they can perform Tawbah and also learn Dhikr, including the Dhikr of the heart
What reward does Allah ta'ala grant the Dhaakireen during this night?
A special group of angels descend from the heavens to the earth in search of those engaged in Dhikr, with Hadhrat Jibraeel عليه السلام amongst them. When they find such people, they come close to them and shake their hands. This is a special gift from the angels.
Why do they shake hands with the Dhaakireen?
They shake hands as
a way of introducing themselves to the Dhaakireen, signifying that they will, InshaaAllah, meet them again in Paradise. Through this handshake, they give the Dhaakireen glad tidings and a guarantee of Paradise.
These rewards come as a result of one’s hard work and dedication. By remaining steadfast in Dhikr throughout the year, we are now reaping the benefits of our efforts tonight.
How can one know that the angels have shaken his hand?
When a person feels a special sweetness in his Dhikr and his tears begin to flow, this is a clear sign that the angels have indeed shaken his hand.
The angels are amazed by those who remember Allah ta'ala despite not seeing Him and without witnessing Hellfire or Paradise. They praise these servants for their devotion.
May Allah ta'ala make us from amongst these special individuals. Ameen
