Jewels of Ramadhan 2026- Episode 23

Every believer affirms the commands of Allah ta'ala and understands the distinction between right and wrong. He is aware of death and the punishments of the Hereafter, and he believes in these matters with certainty. A Muslim testifies to all of this as part of his faith and bears witness to these truths as an essential component of Imaan.

Believers hold the same core beliefs and share the same foundation of faith. So why is it that some uphold their religious duties while others neglect them? Why do some remain firm in practice, while others are weaker, even though they are fully aware of death and the punishments of the Hereafter?

The distinction lies in the fact that faith is affirmed in the heart, not merely spoken by the tongue or heard by the ears. True Imaan is a matter of the heart. If a person recites the Kalimah only verbally, without sincere conviction in his heart, he cannot be regarded as a true Muslim.

The heart must affirm and bear witness to what the tongue proclaims - belief in Allah ta'ala, belief in the Hereafter, in the angels, and in Paradise and Hellfire. True acceptance of Islam begins within the heart and through this, a person becomes a Muslim.

One distinguishes between people based on the condition of their hearts, not by their outward appearances or by the mere verbal declaration of faith.

A person practices his Deen according to the state of his heart, not merely by what he says with his tongue. Improvement and spiritual progression come from the condition and sincerity of the heart.

In Ahadith, it is mentioned that the heart alone is for Allah ta'ala, because faith rests in one's heart.

Any deficiency lies within our hearts, not in the Kalimah that we have recited.

We often focus on our outward appearance and physical cleanliness, making sure we look presentable, while giving little attention to purifying and improving the state of our hearts.

A person may fail to practice due to the impurity or neglect of his heart, not because of physical weakness. He is capable of doing many things physically, but he has neglected to purify the state of his heart.

There are two things which surround our heart as mentioned according to the Hadith. One are the angels and the other are the Shayateen. If one's heart is purified, the Shayateen cannot enter it. Our hearts are very sensitive. If we neglect them even for a short time or a single night, and they remain spiritually unclean, then Shaytan will attempt to enter and influence them.

Both good and bad influences can easily affect the heart, as it is very sensitive and quickly responds to what it is exposed to.

If we are not constantly protecting our heart, then it will be attacked and all the negative things will enter. We should constantly assess the situation of our heart as either Shaytan or angels await the opportunity to enter.

As soon as the heart becomes purified, the angels enter one's heart and his heart is transformed. His emotions and thoughts become transformed, guiding him toward righteousness, and he then acts in accordance with the guidance of the angels, who do not commit wrongdoing.

When the angels reside in one's heart, he will naturally be inclined to avoid wrongdoing. He will be motivated to pray and perform good deeds.

If a person’s heart is impure, he will fail to benefit from warnings, good advice, or reminders from others. He becomes stubborn, and guidance does not penetrate his heart. However, the AwliyahAllah know the method to help purify and heal such people's hearts.

A child cannot be forced to pray or attend Dhikr gatherings, as obedience that comes from fear is not genuine obedience from the heart. Instead, parents should focus on purifying and healing their children’s hearts. When the heart is neglected, children may become more inclined toward wrongdoing due to the influence of Shaytan. The only way to control and discipline our children is through the action of Dhikr, otherwise it is impossible.

When Shaytan gains influence over a person’s heart, he whispers evil suggestions and encourages sinful actions. He gradually inclines a person toward wrongdoing and distances him from obedience to Allah ta'ala.

Allah ta'ala will reckon us according to our practice. Simply preserving the Quran in one's heart is not a great achievement. Rather, to implement the Quran one has memorised, is the biggest achievement.

We make our children Aalim and Haafidh, without emphasising upon practicing the knowledge we have attained. Parents are proudful over their children's titles although these same children fail to fulfil prayer in the mosque and they commit wrongdoing.

A sincere person attains knowledge to become cautious. Sadly, we attain knowledge with corrupt intentions and ulterior motives. Nothing can compare to the Quran and it is the Quran which secures one's heart.

A practicing Haafidh will be forgiven himself and cause others to be forgiven. He will place the crown upon the head of his parents. If he fails to practice, he will end up in Hellfire and take others with him.

Everything depends upon the purity of the heart. Allah ta'ala desires that we return to Him with a pure heart, yet, it a shame that we are not focusing upon purifying it.

When a person begins by neglecting voluntary deeds, he may gradually start abandoning the Sunnah Mu’akkadah, then the Wajib, and eventually even the Farḍ actions. This decline occurs because he did not hold himself accountable at the beginning; as a result, the spiritual sickness spread and gradually worsened.

A person may begin by committing wrong, but if he does not repent or correct himself, he will gradually worsen and his faith may weaken in the process. Over time, this decline could even lead him toward disbelief or shirk, ultimately placing him in danger of Hellfire. This happens when the whispers of Shaytan take hold in his heart and begin to influence his thoughts and actions, drawing him further away from obedience to Allah ta'ala.

The heart belongs to Allah ta‘ala, so we must continuously strive to purify it. If we truly wish to bring complete Deen into our lives, we should remember that the essence of Deen is contained within the Kalimah.

لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله

لا
Refers to abandoning that which goes against the commands of Allah ta'ala.

محمد رسول الله
Refers to imitating the ways of the Prophet ﷺ in every aspect of life.

Together, these two aspects make up the complete Deen.

Those who obey Allah ta‘ala completely and follow the Sunnah are the ones whose hearts have been purified, and for them, the path of practicing Deen becomes easy.

There is only one correct group and it refers to those people who follow the commands of Allah ta'ala, abandons what has been prohibited and they strive to follow the Sunnah. To keep their hearts clean, they are consistent upon this path and expert themselves in Dhikr.

Those who perform Dhikr are in fact striving to practice the Deen. The more a person is serious about performing Dhikr and he works hard upon his Dhikr and performs it regularly, then he is considered upon the right path.

If a person distances himself from Dhikr, it means that he is weak and does not desire to work hard. Those who make excuses to practice, do not truly wish to be upon the right path. For example, they argue and debate that the Rakaat of Taraweeh should be reduced. These are the type of excuses they present in order to abandon such acts of worship.
When a person engages in Dhikr, his heart becomes purified, and he does not make excuses to avoid practicing Deen.

It is not easy to leave this world while reciting the Kalimah. If it were easy, the great Imams would not have worried about their final moments. We have no guarantee that we will be protected from the evil of the nafs and Shaytan at the time of death. This shows how important it is to safeguard and preserve our faith.

There is no benefit of Dhikr if the heart is not purified and improved through Dhikr. One cannot attain success if his heart has not been rectified through it.

We should avoid attending those functions and environments whereby sins take place and the heart will become stained.
We should protect our heart and there is no greater action than Dhikr to protect it. A person will only act upon the Quran when his heart has been protected through Dhikr.

One should recite the Quran after his heart is pure so that he can implement it instead of reciting it for his desires - to become a Haafidh only to show the world. This wont benefit a person or his Hereafter.

If we desire to live, die and be raised as a Muslim, we should cure our hearts through Dhikr.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
