Jewels of Ramadhan 2026- Episode 10

Every action carries a different level of acceptance in the court of Allah ta'ala. The reward and status of our deeds vary according to the sincerity, intention, and manner in which we perform them.

Not everyone attains the same rank and reward from Allah ta'ala. For example, there are different levels in prayer. The more effort, sincerity, and focus a person puts into it, the greater the reward they receive. It all depends on how a person performs and implements that deed.

Each of us are fasting but what type of fasting is worthy of acceptance and reward by Allah ta'ala?

In a Hadith, it is mentioned that, "A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, “Which warriors are the best?” He ﷺ replied: “Those who remember Allah the most.” The man asked, “Which of those who fast are the best?” He ﷺ replied, “Those who remember Allah the most.” Then the man mentioned ṣalāh, zakāh and ḥajj, and each time the Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, “Those who remember Allah the most.” Abū Bakr (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) said to ʿUmar (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu), “Those who remember (Allah) have taken all the good,” at which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked, “Yes, indeed!” (Aḥmad Shareef)

From here, we learn that the act of Dhikr is attached to fasting and it strengthens it.

It is good to pray Nawaafil, perform Taraweeh, and recite the Quran. However, if we want our fast to be truly excellent and of a higher standard, we should engage in Dhikr while in the state of fasting.

Allah ta'ala desires to see how much His servant sacrifices for the sake of these blessed days.

We are very fortunate to be granted the best time to perform Dhikr. After Asr is the period where a person is generally less occupied. The benefit we gain depends on the sacrifice we are willing to make. We should be prepared to set aside our worldly activities during this blessed month, for in reality, we lose nothing of this world by dedicating ourselves to the remembrance of Allah.

If we find ourselves occupied with worldly activities between Asr and Maghrib, we should try to reduce them for a few days, especially work commitments. In doing so, we dedicate that valuable time to Dhikr, and in return, we will gain immense reward.

If you are an employer or have staff working under you, it would be a beautiful gesture to allow them to leave earlier for the sake of engaging in Dhikr, while still paying them in full. In return, you'll be rewarded greatly.

Those who are self-employed should also consider closing their businesses earlier. They will not suffer any true loss, rather, through their sacrifice, their fast will be elevated and its reward increased.

If we invite one person to the Dhikr gathering, we will gain many rewards for their attendance. The womenfolk may partake in the Dhikr gathering by joining in online after Asr. In doing so, they will also receive the same reward by listening at home.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls of wisdom. Ameen.
