Why is Tazkiyyah Important? - Part 19

Dhikr is the medicine which removes the spiritual diseases from one's heart. Throughout our lives, we have been entrusted with the responsibility of guarding our hearts. It is a lifelong struggle.

We live in a time surrounded by evil and corruption and temptations are widespread.

Allah ta'ala has granted us the opportunity to purify our hearts through Dhikr. Thus, we are required to struggle against these spiritual diseases and work hard to eradicate them from within ourselves.

Worldly distractions often divert us from our purpose. One of the greatest tests for men in this world is the attraction and temptation related to women. Therefore, we should guard ourselves by practicing modesty and controlling our eyesight.

Muraqabah is considered the prime worship in the Naqshbandi order. It is a powerful tool to help purify the heart and eliminate sins. It takes a person to the level of Ihsaan - worshipping with the consciousness that Allah ta'ala is always watching us, and living with constant mindfulness of Him. Reaching this level of spiritual excellence is among the highest goals of worship. We should strive to obtain this rank.

After fulfilling our worldly responsibilities and the rights of our families, we should strive to protect ourselves from evil and dedicate as much time and effort as possible to the remembrance of Allah ta'ala.

We should make it a habit to remain in the state of Muraqabah, particularly when we are unoccupied. If a person is occupied in work, he is not required to close his eyes to perform Muraqabah. As long as one maintains consciousness of Allah ta'ala and remembers Him inwardly, the purpose of Muraqabah is being fulfilled.

The first stage of Muraqabah refers to seeking Allah ta'ala's magnificence using Isme-Dhaat. The more the student purifies himself from sins, the more lessons he attains from his Sheikh. Through the action of Muraqabah, one is granted the blessings of all the Mashãikh.

When the Sheikh engages in Muraqabah, it is encouraged for the students to also join collectively.

The entire Dhikr gathering is valuable. One should not leave the Dhikr gathering before Muraqabah is performed. To perform five or ten minutes of Muraqabah alongside one's Sheikh, is better than a hundred years of performing Muraqabah individually. This is because through this action, one conveys the reward to the pious predecessors of the Naqshbandi order. This is a great gift for them and it is considered very valuable. In return, Allah ta'ala becomes pleased with us and makes us His beloved.
Dhikr is the purest deed which holds the power to improve a person. In the Hereafter, we will regret depriving ourselves of these blessings. The only way to save our children from the evil and corruption of Dajjal, is by connecting them to the company of a Sheikh.

The teachings of the Naqshbandi order will continue and remain until Qiyaamah.

The pious predecessors were granted foresight and they observed that many people were migrating towards the land of corruption and misguidance. In such an environment, the best protection for a believer is Dhikr which serves as a spiritual shelter.

This land is a place of evil and corruption. Allah ta'ala has made living here easy for us by granting us the shelter of the Naqshbandi order. We should safeguard ourselves from evil and corruption.

I was sent by my Sheikh with the Dhikr of Allah ta'ala and the Sunnah. Throughout my years, I have faced great opposition and challenges. However, on the path of sincerity, facing resistance is often a sign of being on the right path.

When great scholars adopt a certain Sheikh's company in order to receive faiz and they acknowledge it as the right path, then this is a sign of acceptance from Allah ta'ala.

This is the company in which we should raise our children, so that they become guided and their faith is protected.

In this day and age, many parents find it difficult to control and guide their children. This is the reality we live in. It is unfortunate that often children are not properly educated about the importance of the Sheikh, and the Dhikr of Allah ta'ala. The good traits which we instil in our children, especially regarding Dhikr, will leave a lasting impact throughout their lives.

The land where the Dhikr of Allah is performed, becomes illuminated with light. This light spreads through the seven layers of the earth and the seven heavens, shining with the name of Allah.

The pious predecessors state that one who performs Dhikr not only benefits himself, rather, he also brings benefit to seven of his generations.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
