Muraqabah is the best form of Dhikr. The pious predecessors have stated that this form of Dhikr is seventy times greater than the Dhikr performed with the tongue. This is because this form of Dhikr is a means of cure against the diseases of the heart.
The heart is the cause of sins being committed. It is the place where human desires arise and also where the remembrance of Allah ta'ala is established. When the heart is rectified, then the entire body is rectified. There are seven Lataaif - spiritual points in the body. When a student implements the lessons granted to him by his Sheikh, then it becomes difficult for him to commit sins and it becomes easy for him to perform good deeds. He attains the love of Allah ta'ala which then helps him to fulfil the orders of Allah ta'ala, as well as the Sunnah.
We must improve our heart in order to achieve all of this. The honourable Mashãikh focus and develop the heart, for the heart is in need of protection up until the time of death.
All of us are in need of self-rectification, even the scholars. We must be humble and sincere.
We must seek a Naqshbandi Sheikh for self-reformation purposes and request to learn Dhikr. There are thirty five lessons within the Naqshbandi order. It takes a person his entire life to complete these lessons, and some do not even complete all. We must learn and pass through these lessons and stages and we should work hard in order to achieve this.
Lateefah Qalb, the lesson of the heart, is the first lesson. Where other paths of Tasawwuf reach their end, the Naqshbandi path begins. If we work hard upon Ism-e-Dhaat and bring changes into our life, we will be able to progress further.
Through this order, a student is very quickly developed and improved. A person only gains the true effects of this Dhikr once he has learnt it and been granted permission by a teacher. Only then, he will truly benefit from it.
In the Indian subcontinent, a great WaliAllah was born through whom Islam was spread throughout the world. From Sirhind Shareef, Hadhrat Mujaddid Alf Thani Rahmatullahi alayh made an intention to perform Hajj. Someone informed him that a great Sheikh had arrived from the Naqshbandi order, so he decided to meet him. He met Hadhrat Baqi Billah Rahmatullahi alayh and took Bay'ah immediately and became his student. He did not manage to perform Hajj as he became occupied in the propagation of Deen. Consequently, the Naqshbandi order began from the Indian subcontinent.
Through Dhikr, a person becomes improved. It is a tool and a weapon which safeguards us and our generations from the evil environment around us. It strengthens us upon the path of practicing the Shariah and Sunnah.
We should close our eyes and focus upon our heart, 'Allah, Allah.' When the Tasbih beads are used, it is not a Sunnah act or an act of innovation. It is merely a means of cure which supports our Deen. The sound of the Tasbih has a beautiful impact upon the heart. This method was established by Hadhrat Fazal Ali Quraishi Rahmatullahi alayh and I have been ordered to teach this Dhikr. The students attention should be focused upon their heart throughout Muraqabah.
When Imam Mahdi عليه السلام arrives, he will first meet and learn from the Naqshbandi Sheikh of his time. He will be connected with him and both will perform the work of the Deen. He will not come for worldly fight, and to take over certain lands. In fact, the purpose of his arrival, will be to revive the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ
He will purify those Muslims who live as hypocrites, as they are the true enemies of the Deen. He will oppose such people who fail to pray, abandon Purdah, consume interest and engage in Haraam. Those who are pure and who live in accordance with the Sunnah and Shariah, will be with Imam Mahdi عليه السلام and will help establish the Deen. They will consist of a small group of people.
The cure of hypocrisy and deception, is the Dhikr of Allah ta'ala. Those who live against the Shariah and Sunnah, will not be able to recite the Kalimah at the time of the death.
We should prepare for our death in advance. If we have love for our family and relatives, we should invite them to the Deen and explain the Deen to them. We should introduce them to a WaliAllah and encourage our womenfolk to take Bay'ah.
"O Prophet ﷺ! When the believing women come to you, pledging to you that they will neither associate anything with Allah...." [60:12]
The true Sheikh is he who purifies the student from such sins.
لَّا يُشْرِكْنَ
Shirk does not merely refer to worshiping idols or other deities, rather, it also includes worshipping our own desires which is a greater form of Shirk.
We fail to pray and we consume interest, which is a form of worshipping our desires. This is why we are in desperate need of visiting a Sheikh.
After a person repents through a Sheikh, Nabi ﷺ himself prays for such a person and Allah ta'ala wipes away all his sins. His sins are transformed into good deeds. The Sheikh then becomes responsible to guide the student.
To be granted a teacher who sacrifices his entire life for his students rectification, is a huge blessing from Allah ta'ala. It is a rare gift which must be valued and appreciated.
We should continue to complete our sheets, be grateful to Allah ta'ala that He has connected us with a Sheikh and obey his orders dutifully.
We are permitted to enjoy life, eat, drink, travel and buy a new car however, we must live according to the Shariah. Our hearts should be attached and connected to Allah ta'ala even whilst we are enjoying the world.
Sins are a major force that we must oppose. Our lives become beautiful and orderly simply by developing our hearts.
May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
