Why is Tazkiyyah Important? - Part 15

Sins are not insignificant. They decay one's heart and they inject a poison within a person which impacts him immediately. Sins eat away at our faith whilst we do not realise. Similarly, one is unable to attain the nearness of Allah ta'ala if he is sinning alongside worshipping.

Allah ta'ala has seated special angels near His throne who pray for the servants of Allah ta'ala. Such angels exclude the sinners from their prayers. Thus, the sinners lose out from the supplications of the angels.

We must safeguard ourselves from sins, otherwise, our faith will be destroyed.

We often take injections and medication as preventive measures to reduce sicknesses. Similarly, we should take precautions to save ourselves from sins too.

We should avoid places of evil and wrongdoing, such as marketplaces and functions where immoral actions are taking place, as they pose a danger to our faith.

Our faith is spoilt due to our sins. They carry consequences and they will be a means of our punishment. As sinners, we will not be safe if we fail to repent and our supplications will also not be answered.

After we commit a sin, the heart becomes black and the effects of our sin take place within us very quickly. Thus, we should avoid sins at the root. For example, we should avoid utilising our phones without a reason. We should avoid such actions as much as we can.

A sinful person advances towards the wrong solutions and often blames his depression and anxiety on evil glances and black magic. In reality, the root cause of his emotions and his negative state, are his sins. The antidote for sins is repentance.

Through repentance, our problems will become solved. Whenever we are feeling low, we should immediately seek forgiveness from Allah ta'ala. As a result, we will immediately feel calm and content.

If we desire to spend our day positively, then we must safeguard ourselves from sins. The best believer is he who exercises caution against sins throughout his life. If he succumbs to sin, he immediately seeks forgiveness. Allah ta'ala loves the person who visits the WaliAllah in order to perform Tawbah, as such a person has taken the means to be safe from sins.

Sins will always attract and invite other sins. If a person misses one prayer, it becomes easy for him to miss the next prayer too. Likewise, when we use our phones and allow ourselves to listen to music, we become immune to it and it turns into a habit which eventually leads to us enjoying the music.

A single sin leads us towards further sins and thereafter, the enjoyment is created within us.

With regards to the home in which sins occur, the pious elders state, that one should avoid eating from there. This is the level of caution we must exercise.

Sins impact a person's worship and it removes the enjoyment from one's worship. If we did not have the opportunity of repentance, we would be destroyed.

We should not eat the food cooked by the sinner otherwise, it will impact us negatively.

Prior to cooking for a pious person, we should repent and then cook, lest we spoil the worship of the pious person. If a pious person was to consume such food, he will face loss and his faiz will diminish.

Similarly, when gifting the pious leaders and the AwliyahAllah, we should refrain from gifting them whilst we are involved in sins.

A person who is not cautious, will be punished. If he desires to gift, he must repent and pray two Nafl rak'ah first.

The pious predecessors state that if one fulfils his five times prayer according to Shariah and saves himself from sins as best as he can, he is considered the WaliAllah of his time, as he is practicing Islam in the best way. He is not required to fulfil lengthy acts of worship or voluntary worship on top.

We should disconnect ourselves from those who fail to observe prayer and engage in unlawful activities. We must maintain family ties, however, where Shariah is being compromised, we have been ordered to disconnect, even if the matter is related to our children.

Those who fail to separate themselves, will lose their faith and become affected by the wrong environment themselves. They'll be punished as a result. We should avoid bad company at all costs because it is detrimental to our faith and our level of Taqwa will become spoilt.

It is compulsory to save ourselves from sins and to advise our children to pray, keep a beard or observe Purdah. We should be stern with them and disconnect ourselves from them if they do not take heed.

One faces darkness and wretchedness in his life due to his sins, therefore, we should not overlook and justify the mistakes of our children.

Often, Shaytan places a veil over the sins of our children. Simply praying does not make one succeed. If a child is sinning alongside praying, then he will not be forgiven.

Many of us believe that one is successful by simply praying, performing Hajj and performing the Adhaan. We have made our own standards of success. In reality, only that worship which forms a connection with Allah ta'ala is considered true worship. Worship which distances us from Allah ta'ala is not considered true worship.

A believer should live with Istighfar and continuously seek forgiveness. When we rise in the morning, we should seek forgiveness and we should do the same at the end of the day. This act is very important. If we seek forgiveness for the sins we committed during the day, then we will pass the night and the following day smoothly.

We should avoid sins at all costs. If we know that sins and wrongdoing take place at our children's houses, then we should avoid visiting their homes. Having love for them is not an excuse to visit. If we end up visiting them despite this, then the poison of sin will enter us as a result and we will be destructed.

We should have dislike in our heart for our children who do not pray. The parent who does not have this dislike and displays love and support to their children regardless, are hypocrites themselves.

Ramadan has been granted to us so that we may learn to avoid sins. It is a shame that even during this blessed month, we fast, yet, sin alongside.

Regarding a Man who fails to pray in congregation without an excuse, The Prophet ﷺ has said, "No doubt, I intended to order somebody to pronounce the Iqama of the (compulsory congregational) prayer and then I would go to the houses of those who do not attend the prayer and burn their houses over them." [Bukhari Shareef]

There are conditions of becoming an Imam of prayer. An Imam must not be a sinful person who abandons prayers, otherwise, he will be the cause of spoiling the prayers of those who join the congregation.

It is a great honour to be an Imam. The Imam should be a Muttaqi as he is taking the responsibility of the worshippers by leading them in prayer.

If a person does not pray in congregation himself, then he should avoid leading, otherwise, he is in fact oppressing the Musallee. He will be punished and his parents for encouraging him to lead in such a state.

It is not compulsory to complete the Quran during Taraweeh. If one cannot find a proper Imam to lead Taraweeh, then he can appoint an Imam to recite from Surah Feel to Surah Naas instead, as long as the Imam is upright and righteous.

If we are appointed as Imam and we feel that we are not capable, then we should not lead the prayers. We should rectify ourselves, as it is our desires which are destroying us.

Imaan refers to exercising caution and restraint from sins. This is what Ramadan comes to teach us and a person who lives his life in such a way, will be truly successful.
We should take action immediately and bring changes into our own lives and the lives of others.

Whenever we listen to some good words of advice, we should immediately make a promise to Allah ta'ala to abstain from sin and make a change.

The true AwliyahAllah have concern for the Creation. Their aim is to introduce the Creation to Allah ta'ala so that their sins may be eliminated.

Every moment in the company of a WaliAllah is great. Allah ta'ala sends the beautiful Deen upon their heart for the benefit of the Creation. Our Tarbiyyah takes place just by gazing at the WaliAllah and we also gain faiz through this.

There is no greater action than abandoning sins. Whomsoever has abandoned sins, even if he performs little worship, he has been granted the stamp of approval and he is protected. We should strive to safeguard ourselves from all wrong, as well as our families.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
