The best method of protecting oneself at the time of Fitnah, is to seclude himself. True peace and contentment is found through the remembrance of Allah ta'ala and not through beautiful scenery or the glitter of the world.
When a person wanders and travels around the world aimlessly, Shaytan overtakes him and directs him towards inappropriate things. As a result, one develops spiritual sicknesses through his travels. They cause him to consume Haraam, gaze inappropriately, gossip and backbite.
Even after a journey to propagate the Deen, the pious predecessors would visit the Khankah to purify themselves.
"So once you have fulfilled (your duty), strive ˹in devotion˺, turning to your Lord (alone) with hope." [94:7&8]
As believers, holidays and leisure are not our style of life, thus, we should restrict ourselves. The best holiday is that a believer performs worship and then he rests and prepares himself for the next worship.
Nabi ﷺ said, “Travel is a piece of punishment which deprives a man of his sleep, food and drink; so when he accomplishes his purpose where he has gone he should hasten to his family.” [Bukhari & Muslim]
It is not healthy for a person to make a habit of travelling on the
pnd time and a cause of incurring spiritual diseases.
Naturally, every action a person performs affects his heart. When a person goes to an impure place, he witnesses immoral scenes and consequently, the dirty effects are developed within him.
Meeting those who do not practice the Deen, causes one's faith to be destroyed the most.
We should detach and distance ourselves from bad company and from those who abandon prayer, consume interest and possess poor belief. Poor belief causes poison to be spread within the community, so we should save ourselves from such individuals.
Those individuals who have a habit of remaining silent and they have very few connections, are excellent individuals. If they were to work hard, they would excel upon the path of Tasawwuf very quickly. Likewise, if we follow this path with honesty, we will succeed on this journey.
It should be our habit to meet less people and spend our time at home instead. We are in the era of severe Fitnah, therefore, those who have a habit of socialising, will never succeed.
Khankah means to restrict oneself. It refers to confining oneself for the love of Allah ta'ala. Allah ta'ala places the love for the Sheikh in the heart of the student which does not allow him to leave the Khankah. It is difficult for the student to abandon the company of the Sheikh.
The objective is the pleasure of Allah ta'ala and that is attained via the company of the Sheikh.
The greatest meeting is to meet Allah ta'ala. There is no one who loves us more than Allah ta'ala and there is no better treasure today than pious company. It is the greatest protection and shade for a person.
We should train our thoughts to focus. Unfortunately, we sit in good company, yet,
our minds wander elsewhere; pondering over travelling and flight tickets.
We waste our money and time on travelling. If we have a need to travel, we should travel, but even then, we should shorten our connection with people and avoid burdening them with hosting.
It is a great treasure that Allah ta'ala has enabled us to spend our time remembering Him. There is great value in this action.
We should detach our bodies and our hearts from the Dunya, reduce our connection with the world and await our end. That should be our pastime.

When I address you, then consider that I am sat on the pulpit and seat of the Prophet ﷺ, therefore, I have a big responsibility and will be questioned for every word I utter. When I speak, I do not make anyone a special target, or direct my words at anyone in particular. Moreover, my words do not serve as personal attacks upon anyone. Thousands of others are also listening to me and there are many types of people who are listening. I receive no personal gain from my talks.
Allah ta'ala inspires me to speak about certain topics which may benefit those who have come to seek self-reformation. Allah ta'ala is the one who improves and rectifies a person and He sends His messages to mankind via His chosen servants.
Allah ta'ala selected the Noble Messengers عليهم السلام and they did not address the people out of their own accord and desires. Their messages were based upon revelation from Allah ta'ala.
Similarly, whatever the Sheikh discusses is necessary for the student, as it is Allah ta'ala who delivers the message to him via the Sheikh.
When a Sheikh is upon the truth, he speaks the truth confidently and without hesitation. He is not afraid or concerned regarding who is present and who is not which shows that he is upon the truth.
Allah ta'ala removes even the minutest defect from a person via the discussion of his Sheikh.
The sign of a true WaliAllah, is that his speech will impact you and it will pierce you. Thus, we should consider these wise words as a message from All
ah ta'ala. We must repent for our mistakes and take heed from the message, otherwise, arrogance will grant us loss. We should be grateful that Allah ta'ala has concern for us and desires to save us from Hellfire.
When the message is conveyed to the listeners, they must improve themselves. They should not seek to present their case to their Sheikh in order to justify their actions.
If you have left your parents behind in your homeland, then it is essential that you contact them every day. When you find the opportunity, you should visit your parents after seeking permission from your Sheikh.
It is a worthy action to travel to visit your parents, however, travelling without a proper need or excuse is not appropriate.
We must assess our own lives and the journeys we undertake. We should assess which journeys are essential and necessary and which are a waste of time. If something presents itself as a hurdle upon the path between us and Allah ta'ala, then we should abandon those actions.
To summarise, one incurs great loss through travelling unnecessarily and wastefully. If one's parents are alive, he should travel to visit them and this is the greatest treasure for him. This act is more important than performing voluntary worship.
If one intends to visit his parents, he should remain in the company of his parents and avoid meeting up with friends and socialising in the name of 'meeting parents.' Such a person will have been diverted by Shaytan.
May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls of wisdom. Ameen
