Why Is Tazkiyyah Important? Part 6

Due to His great favour upon us, Allah ta'ala has enabled us to pray in the Masjid and thereafter, be a part of this blessed Dhikr gathering. Another blessing He has granted us, is the reward of Paradise, prosperity and an increase in faith and sustenance. In reality, His favours upon us are innumerable.

We have been blessed to partake in Dhikr by means of a gathering which is hosted by a Great Wali of Allah ta'ala. This is how the Noble Companions رضي الله عنه took part in the Dhikr gatherings.

There are four main established orders of Tasawwuf and Allah ta'ala inspired each Mashãikh with various Dhikr Kalimaat. If one adopts one of these paths properly, he will be protected and safe from innovation.

The four schools of Tasawwuf are unique and with regards to the Naqshbandi order, we have been granted the dhikr which was initiated by Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddiq رضي الله عنه which was inspired to him by Allah ta'ala. The name of each Sheikh is attached to the chain and the chain continues until today. In such a way, the spiritual blessings are spread throughout the silsilah.

Allah ta'ala has selected this path of success for us. Through this method of dhikr, our sins will be removed, our problems will be solved and we will receive the protection of Allah ta'ala. We must remember these favours upon us from Allah ta'ala and be grateful for them.

The teacher is the means to Allah ta'ala. Due to the teacher, we are guided to the Deen and granted Paradise. We must repay these favours which are granted to us. The more we accept and are mindful of our teacher's favours upon us, the more we will become mindful of the favours of Allah ta'ala.

The Sheikh is superior to the rank of one's parents and this special spiritual connection with a Sheikh has not been granted to everyone. This spiritual connection is so great and it is superior to blood relation. Thus, the student is required to sacrifice every thing for this spiritual connection as it is the greatest favour upon him. This same favour was granted to the Noble Companions رضي الله عنهم for which they were truly grateful for.

Even if the parents are disbelievers, one must respect them and fulfil their rights. However, there are boundaries regarding fulfilling their rights, particularly when they make demands which are against the Deen.

"Do you think you will be admitted into Paradise without being tested like those before you? They were afflicted with suffering and adversity and were so ˹violently˺ shaken that ˹even˺ the Messenger and the believers with him cried out, “When will Allah’s help come?” Indeed, Allah’s help is ˹always˺ near." [2:214]

Paradise is not something which is achieved easily. In this world, we will be granted pain and struggle. In order to receive Paradise, effort and endurance is expected from us. On the other hand, the more a person is disobedient to Allah ta'ala, the more enjoyment he will face in the world and he will not be granted the ability to repent. He will chase the world and be completely detached from Allah ta'ala. This is why we should not gauge a persons success by what he possesses. Rather, we should assess which person will be superior in the Hereafter.

The believer never truly dies. He is forever lost in the ocean of Allah ta'ala's oneness. His faith is always increasing and he is spiritually elevated even in the next world. Thereafter, the inhabitants of Paradise remain in awe of his glory.

Servanthood refers to sacrificing one's desires for the sake of Allah ta'ala.

If we connect ourselves with a Sheikh and remain steadfast upon the Dhikr gathering, we will have no desire for the world and its luxuries. Rather, we will attain satisfaction and enjoyment by sacrificing our comforts in order to attend the Dhikr gathering.

After attending this special gathering today, the love for the world is removed from the heart. When this is removed, one develops full reliance in Allah ta'ala that He will fulfil all his needs.

There are certain beloveds of Allah ta'ala whose needs and necessities are always fulfilled by Allah ta'ala so that they can forever remain attached to Him.

Allah ta'ala desires us to live comfortably, yet detached from the world with our hearts rather than our bodies. We should be immersed in His nearness even when we are occupied in worldly affairs.

Eliminating our desires of the world and sacrificing them for the sake of
r, it is a favour of Allah ta'ala upon us that He has enabled us to perform them and He will reward us in return for our deeds.

When we present our deeds to Allah ta'ala in the Hereafter, only those deeds will be accepted which were performed solely His sake.

In reality, we perform good deeds for our own personal benefit and not to benefit Allah ta'ala. However, they'll only be accepted when they are performed for His sake alone. Thus, we should ensure our deeds are sincerely performed for His sake and to benefit ourselves.

If a person makes this habit a part of his life, he will remain satisfied.

We must assess how much our lives have transformed and how much our Deen and character have been improved.

To summarise, we must work hard and make effort upon the path of Allah ta'ala and crush our desires. Secondly, when we face pain and difficulties, we must endure patience.

What is patience?

No matter how great a calamity we face, we must not delay or miss our prayers, involve ourselves in usury or fraud or abandon the laws of Purdah. We must remain within the boundaries of Shariah and this is what is referred to as true patience.

In reality, we do not require more than our simple needs and necessities of life. It is a shame that we migrate from other countries and leave our families behind in order to accumulate wealth, take loans and incur debt in the process. We abandon our Deen for the sake of acquiring the world. This itself is a test.

If we were truly upon the path of Deen, we would have no need to supplicate to Allah ta'ala for our needs. This is because Allah ta'ala will grant such a person without him even asking! Instead, we should connect our heart to Allah ta'ala and focus upon Him.

To attain Paradise we must strive and also have patience. We must repent to Allah ta'ala for having hypocrisy.

Allah ta'ala swears by the time to make us recognise that we are incurring loss due to our time waste. We run after the world and waste time without preparing for the Hereafter. We will only realise on the day of judgement where we will regret it immensely.

Every breath of ours is priceless if it is attached to the name of Allah ta'ala. We should train our hearts to form this habit and allow every beat of our heart to beat upon His remembrance.

We should ask Allah ta'ala for love for our teacher, for the sake of Allah ta'ala alone and not for the world. Whomsoever loves a WaliAllah for the sake of Allah ta'ala, then it becomes Wajib upon Allah ta'ala to love them.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
