Why Is Tazkiyyah Important? Part 5

With regards to faith, either a person accepts the laws of Allah ta'ala both inwardly and outwardly or he accepts them outwardly to maintain his faith without accepting them internally. This is reflected in his acts of disobedience and such an individual has deceived himself.

The oppressor is he who disobeys Allah ta'ala and goes against His orders.

If we truly accepted the laws of Allah ta'ala, we would make effort to implement them. We would have sincere intentions and we would crush our desires.

If one desires to pray and is constantly attacked by Shaytan and Nafs, yet, he works hard, he will attain success eventually. On the other hand, one who justifies his laziness, is a hypocrite and has not truly accepted the commands of Allah ta'ala.

Certainty refers to belief in Allah ta'ala. We must fight with our desires in order to obtain this belief.

In order to strengthen our faith, we visit the AwliyahAllah. If we attain faith in the Sheikh, it is very easy to then acquire faith and belief in Allah ta'ala. One becomes able to accept unlawful as unlawful without questioning and justification.

This connection will make us successful as long as we have strong faith in our Sheikh. With strong faith, one will implement the laws of Allah ta'ala, he will push past the hurdles and he will exert himself physically.

We must be wary of Shaytan as he seeks to create doubts and weakens the faith and belief of the student towards his teacher.

Being a weak student who tries is one thing. However, to reject the instruction of the Sheikh, to mock it and to complain, is an act of hypocrisy. Those who are hypocrites in the company of their Sheikh, will die as hypocrites and will never acquire belief in Allah ta'ala.

Hadhrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه was granted the title As-Siddiq due to his noble characteristics and his immense love for Nabi ﷺ. He held great belief in him ﷺ. After the incident of Mi'raaj, The Non Muslims took advantage of the opportunity to mock Nabi ﷺ and accuse him of spreading falsehood.

On the other hand, Hadhrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه accepted this event as the truth and stood by Nabi ﷺ's side during this difficult time. In fact, those whose beliefs were weak, had their Deen strengthened by the strong belief displayed by Hadhrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه.

Nabi ﷺ's beloved wife, Hadhrat Khadijah رضي الله عنها also had great love for her beloved husband and her love for him allowed her to accept the Prophet ﷺ.

The hypocrites on the other hand are those claim to love, yet, they mock and they reject.

We are all related to each other through the love of Allah ta'ala. If we develop hypocrisy, then Shaytan will create evil whispers within us.

Allah ta'ala loves the person who attaches himself to a Sheikh for the sake of Allah ta'ala. A man's relationship with his Sheikh is the strongest relationship on earth which must be maintained.

The company of a Sheikh is a great way for a person to become connected to Allah ta'ala and have his faith elevated.

We visit a Sheikh to strengthen our belief in Allah ta'ala and in turn, strengthen our Deen by implementing Allah ta'ala's laws practically.

If a student has strong belief in his teacher, he can never be impacted by the whispers of Shaytan at the time of death.

In reality, whoever has solid belief in his Sheikh, he has solid belief in Allah ta'ala and His Rasul ﷺ.

We make friendship with the Sheikh for the sake of Allah ta'ala. If we do not have Aqeedah in our Sheikh, we cannot succeed as a student.

If one criticises and mocks his teacher, he is a hypocrite and will never succeed in his life if he fails to repent.

There is immense benefit for our Hereafter in the instruction of one's Sheikh. We should work hard towards fulfilling these instructions. We should accept the decision of our Sheikh without questioning or hesitation. The Sheikh decides all matters for the sake of Allah ta'ala and not for the sake of the world or greed. Even if the Sheikh happens to err, Allah ta'ala rectifies the matter for him.

Belief is strengthened in the company of the Sheikh and it is the first step to have one's faith strengthened. This is referred to as Tazkiyah. The more love, belief, attachment and connection we have with our teacher, the better. If we are weak and we possess negative thoughts, then we will become wretched even at the time of death and one will not be attached to Allah ta'ala even if he recited a thousand Quran.

If we have been instructed by our Sheikh to abstain from a thing, then we must try our utmost best to refrain from it. If one departs this world upon this journey, whilst working hard, he will die upon success.

To show respect is very important. One may die without Imaan due to disrespect shown to his teacher. This is because Shaytan eventually overtakes him and deviates him.

At the time of death, a student requires the help of his Sheikh, however, he will only receive this help by obeying his Sheikh in his lifetime.

Whenever we experience negative thoughts and doubts, we must remove these thoughts and remain steadfast upon the connection with our Sheikh.

The prime objective of attending the Dhikr gathering of the Sheikh, is to attain the vision of Allah ta'ala in the Hereafter. Only those who possessed strong Imaan, will be bestowed this blessing. This will be the greatest reward in the Hereafter and only upon receiving this blessing, the inhabitant of Paradise will feel truly satisfied.

We must pay extra focus towards the prayers of Fajr and Asr as only those who remain consistent upon these prayers and never abandoned them without an excuse, will be granted the vision of Allah ta'ala.

It is a shame that we rush to our beds after performing the Fajr prayer even in the month of Ramadan. This is the month of light where the mercy of Allah ta'ala is being distributed. Thus, we should spend more time in the Masjid during this month.

The greatest scholar is he who sits in the company of the Sheikh. We should consult and take Fatwa from such a Mufti who is connected to a teacher. This is because he has humbled himself and has spent time in the company of his Sheikh and has served him. As a result, Allah ta'ala has illuminated and opened his heart. Such a scholar holds limitless knowledge and he is able impact others with it.

We should strengthen our belief in Allah ta'ala through the company of our Sheikh. We should be completely satisfied with his decisions and obey him. We should avoid interfering ourselves in matters that do not concern us and avoid becoming hypocrites.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls of wisdom. Ameen
