Why is tazkiyya important.Part1

After faith, the most precious thing is deeds. A person's faith is completed through performance of deeds. His deeds reflect the level of his faith and may become the cause of his faith becoming illuminated.

Allah ta'ala has selected deeds which connect us to faith, such as the five pillars of Islam. Success is based upon how we fulfil our Faraaidh. If they are performed correctly, a person earns a high reward and becomes deserving of Paradise.

In the Hereafter, Allah ta'ala will weigh our deeds upon the scale of sincerity. A person will then be rewarded accordingly.

Our deeds should be of utmost quality and to determine this, we must assess whether our worship is granting us benefit and a positive outcome.

We should assess our prayers and what we are gaining from them in order to determine whether we are performing them correctly. Instead of focusing upon attaining rewards, we must assess the result of our deeds. This is because, one is granted reward depending upon his standard of prayer and whether he has achieved the necessary outcome of prayer.

For example, prayer should prevent us from sins and evil and lead us towards good. If we have gained this result from prayers, then it suffices us and we do not need to perform any voluntary worship.

The Noble Companions رضي الله عنهم had no need to perform voluntary actions as they fulfilled their compulsory deeds to a high level. Similarly, if we achieved such outcomes from our actions, it would suffice us and we would not require to perform extra deeds.

In reality, Zakat purifies our wealth and Hajj causes a person to become pure, as though he has just been born. Unfortunately, we are deprived of these results.

"Our Lord! Raise from among them a messenger who will recite to them Your revelations, teach them the Book and wisdom, and purify them." [2:129]

Tazkiyah is Fard Ayn. The Noble Companions رضي الله عنهم achieved Tazkiyah from Nabi ﷺ. The objective of attaining Tazkiyah is to strengthen our deeds so that we may achieve the positive impact and results from our deeds. We perform Tazkiyah so that our Faraaidh actions are perfected and our deeds prevent us from sins and evil. Thus, to correct our deeds, it is essential that we adopt Tazkiyah. This will benefit our Hereafter.

It is very hard to control our desires in this age of great Fitnah and evil. These things spoil our deeds and our environment. Thus, the solution is to adopt Tazkiyah. Only with effort, we will be granted reward and without Tazkiyah, our deeds are rendered futile.

A person who implements one Sunnah, is granted the reward of a hundred martyrs. It was easier for the Noble companions رضي الله عنهم to imitate the Sunnah. Today, we struggle to practice our Deen which is why we are granted greater rewards for imitating the Sunnah. Similarly, achieving Tazkiyah in this day and age, grants us more reward.

Hadhrat Imam Bukhari رحمة الله عليه developed great Taqwa. Before recording Ahadith, he would assess the Hadith, take a bath, perform Istikharah and thereafter, he compiled the Ahadith.

We follow the Imams of Fiqh to make Deen easy for us. Similarly, Allah ta'ala granted us the four schools of Tasawwuf in order to attain Tazkiyah. This part of Deen is not an innovation and has been adopted thr

oom the Sunnah and if we do not develop Tazkiyah, then we are in great loss and we will be faced with great Fitnah.

The Sheikh is a true deputy of the Prophet ﷺ whom we must obey. We should connect ourselves with a Sheikh who is local to us to improve ourselves and our worship.

Every Sheikh's methodology is different. Allah ta'ala inspires every Sheikh with different methods for medicine and cure to be prescribed to their students. Allah ta'ala is the one who cures and improves us, however, we must adopt the means of cure.

The Mashaikh teach the students Dhikr which is a means of cure. It is not a Wajib act, rather, it is an elevated voluntary action, as it improves our Faraaidh actions. One gains reward and positive results from his Faraaidh, however, Nafl refers to working hard. The closeness to Allah ta'ala is attained through voluntary actions as it elevates our Fard.

We should never become complacent with our deeds. A person who has Taqwa gauges his deeds against Shariah to assess whether his deeds align with the Deen. A believer does not need to refer to a scholar. If his heart is pure, it will grant him the answer and it lead him towards good and away from wrongdoing. Taqwa causes a person to become anxious when inclined towards wrongdoing.

In the gathering of the Sheikh, the student must be mindful of the etiquettes of the Halaqah. He must sit close to the Sheikh and avoid leaning against the wall. He should come to the gathering on time or early instead of being late.

The Sheikh has the power to remove the diseases of the student, however, the student himself must work hard to eradicate it. We must seek a Sheikh with correct intentions and not with the deception of desiring Khilafah.

To summarise, Tazkiyah completes and perfects our Faraaidh and we will be judged according to our Faraaidh. If we have achieved good results from it, we will be granted Paradise and nearness to Allah ta'ala.

It is a shame that the solution to save our Deen has been prepared for us, yet, we fail to bring our children towards Tazkiyah. We are not in need of becoming scholars or becoming a Qari. These routes do not guarantee us success or benefit, rather, we must work towards purifying our inner selves.

Those people who attend the dhikr gathering are selected by Allah ta'ala Himself and they are those whom Allah ta'ala has destined guidance for. We should be grateful Allah ta'ala has selected this path for us. We should seek protection from doubts and the whispers of Shaytan with regards to this Naqshbandi order and path of Tasawwuf.

We have the opportunity for Tazkiyah so we should not neglect this solution. If we adopt Tazkiyah, Allah ta'ala will elevate all our worldly affairs. We should be grateful for the Sheikh Allah ta'ala has granted us in order to improve ourselves and our children. If we fail to protect our children, we will not be forgiven.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these precious pearls. Ameen
