The Solution for Our Difficulties & Problems
Allah ta'ala's special rewards and mercies descend during this night and it is the night of forgiveness. The more we are grateful to Allah ta'ala, the more He will increase our bounties. These bounties refer to the permanent bounties granted in the Hereafter as opposed to the worldly bounties which only grant temporary benefit.
We must assess whether we are focused upon this world or the Hereafter. Unfortunately, due to the nature of man, if he does not receive blessings which grant worldly benefit, he becomes disappointed.
Often, we face obstacles when travelling towards our destination in this world. Similarly, we will face problems in life and our lives will certainly not run smoothly as anticipated. It is inevitable that we will face obstacles throughout the course of our life. It is foolish to think that this world or our actions will grant us peace and comfort.
Thus, how should we overcome problems in this life?
Allah ta'ala states,
وَاصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
And be patient! Certainly Allah does not discount the reward of the good-doers. [11:115]
The answer is to become patient. When a problem confronts us, we must exercise patience and endure the circumstances.
In order to solve our problems, we often become misguided and impatient due to being despondent and facing grief. We resort to greed and fighting in order to seek a solution for our problems.
What is Patience?
We must realise that this distress and problem is a form of challenge granted to us by Allah ta'ala. No matter how much grief and loss we face, we must not go against Shariah in our attempts to find a solution and our steadfastness in Deen and our obedience to Allah ta'ala should not be compromised. If we remain obedient to Him, Allah ta'ala will accompany us in our hardship. Conversely, if we adopt a route which goes against Shariah, it will lead us to loss and Hellfire.
We should avoid adopting improper actions in order to solve our problems. Rather, we should turn towards the Deen and take the solution from it. Deen tells us that this world will certainly grant us tests. We must persevere through them, as these tests were created by Allah ta'ala to assess whether we go against Shariah, as well as an opportunity to earn reward from our endurance.
The stronger our reliance and belief in Allah ta'ala, the more patience we are able to observe. Those who live by the guidelines of the Deen, are easily able to develop this emotion. Their worship and lifestyle do not fluctuate throughout the year and wherever they may be.
Patience does not refer to staying silent. Rather, we may cry and be distressed, however, we should adopt the solution using Halal means. We should not try to solve our problems using our own desires and by using unlawful methodologies. At the same time, we should have complete reliance upon Allah ta'ala and not upon medical solutions.
A believer has full capacity to demonstrate patience and to achieve this practice of patience, we require faith. The believer never becomes grief stricken and despondent. He supplicates and takes assistance from Allah ta'ala during every circumstance.
Losing hope and becoming despondent takes a person to disbelief and suicide. The believer does not lose hope in the Lord who takes care of him. He bears his tests and he perseveres through his hardship. This is because he follows the instructions of Allah ta'ala throughout his life.
We struggle to abstain from Haraam due to our Imaan being weak.
There are three types of people. Those who do not have faith. Those who have faith and they practice. The third group are those who have faith, they practice and they purify their hearts alongside. Their status is higher because they exercise patience, they do not commit Haraam and they have peace in their heart by submitting to Allah ta'ala in every situation.
The real work of the Deen and medicine, is attaining Tazkiyah through which a person is able to differentiate between good and bad and the correct and incorrect path. Through all his actions, he desires to attain the pleasure of Allah ta'ala. Upon learning this through the company of a Sheikh, a persons life becomes very easy. These emotions are only granted to those with a high level of Imaan. Furthermore, Dhikr is a very in depth practice and it holds much importance because it grants us personal benefit.
Dhikr develops our Imaan and strengthens it. The stronger our faith, the more it will lead us towards the obedience of Allah ta'ala through implementing His orders.
We must seek to strengthen our Imaan so that we may not feel anxiety and fear when faced with challenges.
Many things appear to be good in our life, however, they are not. When they are taken from us we begin complaining. When a person has strong Imaan, he is grateful to Allah ta'ala and acknowledges the purpose behind what seems to be a catastrophe. He associates the outcome of his actions to be in accordance with the decision of Allah ta'ala.
Similarly, we should realise that there is goodness behind the hardships we face and we should be content. This is how to attain peace of the heart.
On the other hand, if a person complains, he is wasting the opportunity to be rewarded. In reality, there is wisdom from Allah ta'ala behind everything which occurs in our life. When faced with hardship, we should remember that it is ordained to occur by Allah ta'ala. We should be hopeful of our matters improving and if they do not, then we should know that there is goodness in it.
We should ask Allah ta'ala to grant us based upon His choice, rather than our desires because His selection is better than our desires.
True faith is attained in the company of a waliAllah. If the student has correct intentions and fulfils his objective, he becomes a high grade individual.
All of us are in need of a Sheikh in this journey of life. We must strengthen our faith by sitting in the company of the Sheikh and through performing dhikr.
Purification of the soul and Mujaahadah will grant us the solution. We must assign ourselves to a Sheikh and this will grant us success.
The teacher teaches us to detach ourselves from the world and tread upon the path of the Hereafter. If we face problems, we must have reliance upon Allah ta'ala that He will still provide for us. We should not give up and be afraid of leaving sins. These are from amongst the teachings of the Khankah.
If we exercise patience in life and endure hardships, we will be granted a high level of Wilaayat from Allah ta'ala. It is not a minor feat to attain Paradise. It requires strong Imaan and trust in Allah ta'ala. We must strengthen our connection with the pious predecessors and we must absorb the Dhikr Kalimaat within our hearts.
The dhikr Kalimaat are very beloved to Allah ta'ala. We should bring these Kalimaat in to our heart and our emotions by reflecting upon how these Kalimaat served the Prophets عليهم السلام well and removed their hardships. These are the gifts we attain from the Khankah.
We should perform dhikr passionately, value it and work hard to attain these statuses.
When a person recites Surah Kahf every Friday, he is protected from the evil of Dajjal. The pious predecessors recommend that one should in fact, recite this Surah daily in order to be protected from the disorder and evils which surround us in life.
Allah ta'ala has granted us examples within Surah Kahf itself, such as the story of the sleepers of the cave. The believers remained firm upon Tawheed despite the injustice of the ruler and they sought refuge in a cave with their dog. The dog did not leave their side and they all slept for 300 years in the cave, after which, Allah ta'ala delivered them to safety. This specific dog however, has been mentioned in the Quran and given a high status for not abandoning its owner and the company of the pious men - the AwliyahAllah.
From this, the pious predecessors deduce that the company of the AwliyahAllah offer protection to those who adopt it and those who adopt their company, will be mentioned amongst them due to their connection.
May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement these special words of wisdom.
