Way of Reform
There is no greater objective than dhikr in a person's life. Every worship is based on dhikr and through the spirit of dhikr, worship is formed. Allah ta'ala loves the one who performs His dhikr and He illuminates the land upon which the Dhaakir sits to remember Him.
This world is a temporary abode. When we rise in the morning, we should be content and grateful.
Nabi (ﷺ) said, "Whoever amongst you wakes up physically healthy, feeling safe and secure within himself, with food for the day, it is as if he acquired the whole world." [Ibn Majah Shareef]
We should have reliance and trust upon Allah ta'ala. Whatever Allah ta'ala has granted us in this world such as our health, it is given for our benefit, in order to prepare for the Hereafter.
Every day, we should assess what we have performed for this world and for the Hereafter and we should perform Istighfar and repentance daily. If we make a habit of these two actions, we will become successful. Allah ta'ala loves the one who repents and such a person will never be a failure.
Before we retire to sleep or take a nap, we should seek forgiveness for Allah ta'ala for our sins. We should repent regarding our current situations.
If we commit a sin, we should make habit to repent immediately. Such a person who makes this habit, will no longer be considered a sinner.
We should implement the ways of the Sunnah on the day of Jumuah out of respect for this blessed day. When we prepare for Jumuah in the correct way, our sins are forgiven.
Allah ta'ala's mercy seeks excuses to forgive His servants. The virtue of Jumuah, is such that every hour of Jumuah, six hundred thousand people are forgiven and removed from Hellfire. This is through the mercy of Allah ta'ala.
Whomsoever imitates the Sunnah and performs the prayer of Jumuah in the masjid, as well as performing Asr and Maghrib in congregation, he will be granted the reward of Hajj & Umrah. Furthermore, Allah ta'ala will fulfil such a person's needs.
The company of a Sheikh is extremely vital for every individual. A believer can never be rectified and improved without connecting himself to a Kaamil Sheikh. Without self rectification and education from a guide, he is not able to gain benefit from his knowledge.
Hadhrat Baqi Billah Rahmatullahi alayh stated, that without repentance, abundant dhikr and connection of a teacher, a person cannot succeed.
The objective of the teacher is to reform the student by connecting the student to Allah ta'ala. Out of all spiritual orders, the Naqshbandi order is most suited for this fast paced era we are living in and most beneficial for its people. People do not have time to sit and perform lengthy prescriptions of dhikr. Therefore, Allah ta'ala granted us a shortcut prescription of dhikr via the Naqshbandi order through which students are required to perform minimal efforts in order to succeed.
One's relationship with his teacher, will grant him success. Allah ta'ala grants the Sheikh spiritual blessings which the student attains via the reflection of light and spirituality. The student pulls on the faiz of the teacher. The stronger your relationship with your teacher, the more successful you will become.
If you desire love for your teacher, then seek the love of Allah ta'ala from Him. The more one desires Allah ta'ala's nearness, the more one attains the love of Allah ta'ala via the Sheikh. In this way, the student begins to love the teacher for the sake of Allah ta'ala.
Without love for the teacher, one cannot be successful. If he is distant from his teacher and he rebels, he will not gain the benefit, as his actions prove that he does not have the love for Allah ta'ala in his heart. This also shows that he does not truly desire the nearness of Allah ta'ala.
The Mashaikh are the intermediaries through which the students may attain the nearness of Allah ta'ala. Through the guidance of the teacher, one is connected to Allah ta'ala.
When you serve your Sheikh and make sacrifices for the sake of Allah ta'ala, you earn the reward for loving Allah ta'ala. The teacher is not the objective. Rather, the true objective is to attain the love of Allah ta'ala.
If you do not have love for your teacher, it means you do not have love for Allah ta'ala. Thus, we should strengthen our love for Him which will strengthen our love for our teacher. The more we have desire and love for Allah ta'ala, the more respect and love we hold for our teacher.
The hypocrite is he who does not desire to become close to Allah ta'ala, nor practice the deen, however, he desires to be the deputy of the Sheikh. In reality, every student is a Khalifah who upholds the teachings and instructions of his Sheikh.
Rabta-e-Sheikh refers to seeking the nearness of Allah ta'ala via the connection of the Sheikh. We must implement the instructions of our Sheikh without hesitation and doubt. We must undertake the hardships we face upon this journey.
Those who have passion, will absorb and learn from the teacher. However, the hypocrites will not be able to accept and practice.
Tasawwuf is the soul of Islam and the preparation for the Hereafter. Those who performed dhikr, their faces will be illuminated in the Hereafter for all to see. We should partake in the dhikr gatherings morning and evening and encourage our children to attend too. Thereafter, Allah ta'ala will protect our children.
Hadhrat Rashid Ahmad Gangohi Rahmatullahi alayh states that in whichever condition a person remembers Allah ta'ala, he will certainly receive a positive impact from it. It will cause the Dhaakir to become a good human being and will never leave him devoid.
Allah ta'ala invites us towards dhikr and a person who embraces the action of dhikr, will be granted the mercy of Allah ta'ala and His angels.
Allah ta'ala will also convert his sins in to good deeds.
When one becomes lazy from dhikr, he is faced with a dangerous situation. Even if one performs dhikr and nothing else, he will be successful.
We should implement the responsibilities and obligations which Allah ta'ala has ordained upon us. After we depart this world, we will be made to wait in Barzakh. If we performed good actions in this world, we will be treated well in Barzakh. If we performed evil deeds and abandoned prayers, then our stay in Barzakh will be very challenging. Such a person will continue to receive difficulties during Barzakh.
We should not lose hope after committing sins. If we end up repeating a sin after repenting, we should immediately repent again. We should prepare for our stay in Barzakh and make it an enjoyable one.
