To perform dhikr is essential and without dhikr, one cannot attain satisfaction and progression for the Hereafter. One faces great loss through failing to establish the practice of dhikr in his life.
Our success is not based upon possessing worldly assets. Rather, a truly successful person, is he who has attained the pleasure of Allah ta'ala before he departs this world.
Indeed, those who believe, do good, establish prayer, and pay Zakah, will receive their reward from their Lord, and there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve." [2:277]
Allah ta'ala is pleased when a person performs those actions which earn His pleasure, such as establishing prayer and giving Zakat. If we fulfil these deeds, Allah ta'ala will grant us a high status before we depart this world.
The biggest punishment in the Hereafter, is Hellfire. Similarly, the biggest punishments in this world, are grief and fear. Without grief and fear, one is totally independent and he is relaxed.
Through praying and giving in Zakat, Allah ta'ala will save us from fear and grief. Prayer is connected to ones limbs and this act of worship eliminates the love one possesses for his body. Prayer leads a person to utilise his body in the obedience of Allah ta'ala.
It is due to our love for our body, that we eat good, adorn good clothing and earn wealth. Often, this love for our body makes us wretched in this world as our blessings and luxuries make us disobedient towards Allah ta'ala. Allah ta'ala has granted us prayer to control the love we have for our body.
If we pray regularly, it eliminates our physical sicknesses and eliminates the love for physical comfort.
The second love refers to wealth. We should spend in the way of Allah ta'ala and this will reduce our greed and love for wealth. When we give Zakat, naturally our love for wealth will reduce and we will enjoy giving our excess wealth in the path of Allah ta'ala.
Allah ta'ala has made practicing these orders easy for us and our deen is complete once we implement these two orders.
The punishment for abandoning prayer is very severe. In reality, a person who does not fulfil prayer has arrived to the banks of disbelief. We should flee to the mosque to perform prayer. Through praying in congregation, Allah ta'ala grants us peace and contentment. Our desires are fulfilled and our deen and dunya are taken care of.
Failure to pray, results in punishment and the consequence for failure begins at death. The punishment of the Hereafter, is a permanent punishment.
We should encourage our children to pray at the age of seven and teach them the importance, so that it will grant them the light. We should encourage our sons to attend the masjid for prayers.
Allah ta'ala has granted a great reward to those who correct their prayers in this world. Such a person's deen is rectified and he is granted the fear of Allah ta'ala within him. His fear for the world is eliminated and instead, he fears to disobey Allah ta'ala.
There are fifteen punishments for a person who is lazy towards prayers. A male who performs prayers at home without an excuse, is lazy and negligent. Allah ta'ala grants him five punishments immediately in this world such as removing Him from His remembrance and granting him wealth, luxuries and assets, although he considers it progression and advancement. Allah ta'ala is so unhappy with him, that He does not grant him the opportunity to repent. Even if one person does not pray in our home, that home will suffer as a result and face punishment. If we continue to connect ourselves and show love towards those in our homes who do not pray, then we are also included in the punishment.
We should concern ourselves with upbringing our children upon the Sunnah and teaching them to recite all the Adhkaar.
The solution to fighting our desires and becoming regular in prayer, is to perform dhikr. This is the weapon to fight Shaytan and our desires. If we fail to take hold of this weapon, then we will continue to be defeated. This is the reason the AwliyahAllah prescribe dhikr. It enables us to become strong upon prayer. The doors of success open for a person who performs dhikr.
The one who does not perform dhikr, will be negligent and lazy towards his prayer. We should perform dhikr according to the method Allah ta'ala has prescribed to us. Then only it will benefit us and grant us success.
"O believers! Always remember Allah often, and glorify Him morning and evening." [33:41-42]
We must remember Allah ta'ala limitlessly. We must perform Muraqabah in the morning and the evening and attend the dhikr gatherings. This will help defeat the attacks of Shaytan and prevent sins.
Abundant dhikr cannot be performed via the tongue. Rather, it is the dhikr of the heart which enables a person to remain in the state of dhikr always. Our heart should continue to take His name as it was created by Allah ta'ala for this purpose. We must actively take the steps to learn dhikr from the company of the waliAllah. In his company, the effects of dhikr will rub upon us.
Performing dhikr alone does not provide benefit to a person. It is only through the company of the waliAllah and his direction, that dhikr is proven impactful for a person. Such a person will then develop love for the Sunnah and his deen will be improved.
We must seek guidance from Allah ta'ala in order to be assisted. This shows our sincerity. If we depart this world whilst actually striving and seeking for Help, then we will be admitted to Paradise.
Success refers to dying upon the pleasure of Allah ta'ala through actions which please Him, like observing prayer. We are required to fight Shaytan and Nafs who seek to distance us from prayer, through His dhikr. To achieve this, dhikr of the heart must be learnt through the company of the WaliAllah.

How to please Allah ta'ala?
