How Can We Protect Our Iman?

One sin is enough to lead a person towards Hellfire. We must be grateful to Allah ta'ala for allowing us to attend the dhikr gatherings through which all our sins our forgiven. This is why we must consider these gatherings to be significantly important.

Through these gatherings, Allah ta'ala delivers messages to us via the Sheikh according to our personal situations. This is the blessing of this gathering.

Nabi ﷺ stated that Imaan is the greatest asset for a believer. It is the greatest form of wealth. If we had certainty in this, we would value our Imaan and work on elevating it. We should assess the level of our faith and the value of our faith.

Imaan is the greatest asset in the universe. When we chase after this wealth, we are not considered greedy in society. In fact, we are greeted by the angels due to our efforts. This is the method to become wealthy in the true sense.

No matter how wealthy we may be, we all fear death. In reality, we will soon pass away and the value of our Imaan will be recognised in the Hereafter. The wealth of this world will not bring any benefit to us in the Hereafter. It is our faith which will be weighed and assessed.

No one can escape the grave. Thus, we should work towards making our grave a comfortable and adorned place. Our grave can either be a garden from the gardens of Paradise or a ditch form the ditches of Hellfire. It is our choice and it is our deeds which will determine the outcome. With the wealth of Imaan, we may purchase the comforts of the grave and make it a better place for us. For the one who makes effort, he will have an illuminated grave and he will enjoy delicacies therein. Such a person is spending the wealth of his Imaan in his grave.

Nabi ﷺ stated that the best deed which will save a person from the difficulties of the grave is the dhikr of Allah ta'ala. A person who earns the wealth of Imaan by rising up early for prayer and the dhikr gathering, is making his grave a portion from Paradise. The stronger one's Imaan, the better the state of his grave.

We should have no attachment to worldly things. The one who chases materialism is a hypocrite and does not believe the power of Imaan. The one who understands that Imaan is the greatest currency, will work on increasing his Imaan each day. He will never delay his prayers and he will earn goodness due to this. Allah ta'ala will also place blessings in his worldly wealth and assets, although he may have no regard for it.

We should not expect worldly turnovers in exchange for our prayers and worship because such a valuable thing as prayer, cannot be compared to worldly materialism. When a person prays in the morning, his treasures are being accumulated for him in the Hereafter.

Prayer is better than sleep as is mentioned in the call to prayer itself. Goodness is distributed through prayer. The one who ignores this call, Allah ta'ala releases the devil unto him who urinates on his face and he is cursed by Allah ta'ala. Such a person will become even more inclined towards worldly things and this is considered a punishment from Allah ta'ala.

We must implement the laws of Allah ta'ala otherwise, we are destructed. We should not waste our Imaan. Rather, we should protect our faith by protecting our prayers. If we ruin our prayers, then our deeds are wasted too.

We are protective and greedy over our wealth which will not benefit our graves. We must protect our imaan in the same way because our faith can be looted.

How to protect our faith?
The most dangerous thing which consumes our faith is sins which we justify, consider insignificant and fail to shun. Rather, we encourage sinning and sin openly and persistently. This action directly impacts our faith negatively. Those who sin in such a way, will never be granted the ability to repent in their lifetime. His grave will become a pit from the pit of Hellfire. We must save ourselves from this, lest our Imaan will be wiped away at the time of our death.

When something is made common in society, we lose its awareness. This is why we do not experience the taste of faith and we fail to strive for departing this world with faith. We should not be deceived by our sins, nor make excuses for them.

A person earns the reward of a hundred martyrs for practicing one Sunnah. Iman and taqwa come hand in hand. One who has both becomes a WaliAllah. We must leave disobedience and this will earn us a very high rank in Paradise.

Those who repent immediately after committing a sin and practically saves himself from performing that sin again and takes precautions, Allah ta'ala forgives that person and accepts his repentance before he dies. He will be granted the wealth of Imaan after death.

To save our Iman, we must develop a feeling of shame after sinning. We must acknowledge our sins, feel regret and submit to Allah ta'ala, seeking forgiveness.

Narrated in Bukhari Shareef by Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and questioned him. "What do you say about one who loves a pious person for the sake of Allah ta'ala, enjoys his company and aspires to become like him? He cannot perform good deeds like him and attain a high rank in Paradise like him, so how will this love benefit such a person?"

Nabi ﷺ replied saying, "If you love someone for the sake of Allah ta'ala, then you will be with them in the Hereafter."

We learn that when we sit in the company of the pious, their good attributes are rubbed on to us. Through them, we are granted the ability to repent after committing sins. If we act upon this Hadith, we will learn to develop regret after sinning and protect ourselves from sin.

We must ask Allah ta'ala for His love and the love of those who love Him so that we may be connected to Him.

May Allah ta'ala allow us to implement. Ameen
